Wushu Action Star Academy is a world class martial arts training center providing instruction in Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) and Taijiquan (Tai Chi). Wushu is an athletic discipline of physical culture and sports. It takes elements of China’s Traditional culture as its theoretical foundation and implements offensive and defensive movements, both bare-​hand and Wushu weapons training, in a very unique and dynamic fashion. Taichi is a Chinese exercise system that uses slow, smooth body movements to achieve a state of relaxation of both body and mind.

Wushu Action Star Academy is a world class martial arts training center providing instruction in Wushu (Chinese Martial Arts) and Tai Chi located in Temple City, California.

Wushu Action Star Academy was founded by Jing Li & Ying Li who have more than 15 years of professional wushu experience competing on the world famous Beiing Wushu Team in China, performing in Hollywood & Chinese action movies and for Cirque du Soleil. In addition, the pair have more than 10 years of teaching experience in America including being the former head coach of the University of California, Berkeley Wushu Team.

Coach Jing Li began her wushu training at the age of 6 and is now one of the world’s leading female martial arts experts and top Hollywood stunt actors (Rush Hour 3, Priest, The Last Air-​Bender, Fight Science etc.). She trained under the Beijing Wushu Team under the same coach as Jet Li. She holds titles as the International Wushu-​KungFu Champion and is also a former NASKA Weapons Champion. After winning the Hero Medalist Award (the highest honor for distinguished accomplishments in Wushu) she left the Beijing Wushu Team to come to the United States and coached at UC Berkeley (1999 – 2001), winning Coach Of The Year in 2000. She is also a certified contemporary Wushu judge.

My kids love to go to Wushu! We have been going to Coach Li school now for almost a year and a half. All of the instructors are amazing and so nice to the kids, they make them feel special. I wish we lived closer so that I could take them more often!

So… I’m an old martial arts guy. I have a few black belts, teaching credentials, blah blah blah. My knees suck so I went looking for a workout to get back in shape. This place is pretty close to where I walk about, so I thought I would give it a shot.
The people are pretty friendly, but stand offish — might be because I am an oaf, but that’s a different story all together. I came in hoping classes for myself and two children. 3 memberships… should be an easy sell.
I sent emails. .no answer. Called a few times, one returned… Yes… a response. Met one the of students to take a look at the school to decide if I want to take the class. Juliette or something like that, lol, I am terrible with name. She met me and told me a little about the school. She was pretty disinterested with talking to me, but she is young. Not really expecting a world class sales person. I did meet the owner/​teacher and her super cute daughter — both very nice.
I decided to try a class. A little disorganized, but again, not bad. The class started off pretty good, simple workout, some stretches and the instructor (cute young Chinese girl, maybe coach Xu?) asked me if I had prior experience… good question to ask but it didn’t go beyond that.
After the warm up I was pushed to the side to practice basics; this is what you do with new people so I was ok. I was shown a few things by Coach Xu and then handed off to a white guy… he didn’t really want to help me. I wonder if I smelled??? Students practiced their forms and I was forgotten. I think there was a performance or tournament (does wushu have tournaments?) coming, so there had to get extra time in. Oh… there as also a younger potential student that came in that got everyone’s attention. Maybe he was a celebrity… I am not «up» on today’s youth.
Class finished and I stood around for a bit trying to get attention. I figured someone would ask me what I thought… if I wanted to join, if I had questions. Nope… I said thank you for the training and they said bye :) What a shame… I really wanted to try.

Been doing wushu for awhile and decided to start picking up Tai Chi. Coach Xu and Coach Li and the student instructors know their stuff (they have a pretty prestigious pedigree stemming from the Beijing Wushu Team, same team that trained Jet Li). They’re also great at actually teaching it, which is key. Lots of kids during the kids classes and they seem to really enjoy themselves and the coaches really love them. Facilities are also great for wushu, which can demand some pretty spacious facilities sometimes.

Great king fu academy run by Hollywood stunt woman and martial artist Li Jing. She and coach Xu are both excellent teachers.
They have Tai Chi classes and specialize in king fu for kids.
Super friendly atmosphere and great tuition.

If you are looking for world class Wushu this is the place to train. The studio is first class with its thick carpeting (easy on the knees) to a huge open training area. Not to mention classes taught by two Wushu legends Coach Li Jing and Coach Li Ying. If you are serious about learning quality Wushu from two of the best then you need to check out Wushu Action Star Academy.
For those who are interested in learning the fight skills needed for film and tv Coach Li Jing has worked as both a stuntwoman and actor in the US and China (she has worked with Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Maggie Q and Kelly Hu)…so what are you waiting for? Trust me I have trained in the martial arts for over 30+ years and have also worked as a stuntman, when I found out about the Wushu action star academy I signed up instantly and have not been disappointed… and neither will you.
BTW in 3 weeks I have lost 12 pounds…
If you are serious about Wushu, then this is the home for you.

This school is a fabulous location to train wushu with 2 of the best coaches in Li Jing and Li Ying. The school is nice and bright, full of sun light during the day with great high celings and nice big mirrors on the walls. The coaches have loads of experience in Wushu as well as fitness routines that will keep people in shape and flexible. This school is fantastic for kids to learn a great after school activity to get them in shape and keep them active.
So if ur in the Temple City area and need a place to learn wushu or need a great workout come to WASA and experience the awesomeness that the coaches have to offer.

There are very few wushu training facilities that are as prepared to teach wushu as this school. Their carpeted training area is the best in the city, with ceilings high enough to practice long weapons comfortably. Not to mention you have both Li Jing and Li Ying, two champions from the Beijing Wushu Team teaching here.
A great addition to this area of LA, and anyone interested in wushu (that stuff you see in all action movies nowadays) should come by and take a look.

Coach Li Jing is one of the nicest and most hard working martial arts coaches I’ve ever met, and I’ve been in and around the California wushu community for 12 years now. She is a former professional Chinese wushu athlete, has taught wushu at UC Berkeley, and is a professional stunt woman and actress. She is known as a good teacher and is well loved by the students that have come to know her over the years. This facility is probably the nicest martial arts schools I’ve ever seen. Located in the thick of things, with plenty of parking in the back. Well worth driving through LA traffic for.
