Vanity on Mill Hair Gallery and Spa

Nicki is my girl! I’ve been a client of hers since 2009. She does a great job with cuts and coloring and will let you know if something won’t look good on you. She also gets excited to experiment with colors which is great since I change my hair color a lot. She pulled off a red ombré for me that turned out fantastic.

The haircuts are good, but racist commentary from stylists such as Nicki makes Vanity on Mill a no-​go for me as it significantly impacted my experience as a customer.

What a breath of fresh air. This little place had such a welcoming feel and convenient location.
I saw Jessica for a cut and style and I have to admit I was super nervous. I am mixed race with unpredictable curly hair. Jessica assured me that she knew how to do ethnic hair and she did not disappoint! She was able to perfectly blow out my hair without pulling my head in pain in every which direction. And to top it off– she was super quick!

I just found out that this salon has been around the ASU and Mill Ave District for 5 years! This is one of Tempe’s best kept secrets; quaint and friendly. I’ve gotten my hair cut by a couple of the stylists and I’ve always been happy. Congratulation, Vanity, on your 5 years!

Everyone here does a great job! Awesome location, and very stylish! All of the stylists and girls in the spa are very knowledgable.

A bachelorette party spa afternoon brought me to this quaint little spa-​salon on Mill Avenue. Situated conveniently right off of Mill Avenue, you could also miss this little house that has convenient parking behind itself. You have to drive past Subway and past Subway’s parking lot and turn right into a small alleyway to access the parking to this spa.
This spa had a Portland vibe to it, since it’s located in a little house. It’s very welcoming and «warm» feeling on the inside. Our spa bachelorette spa party consisted of at least 10 girls so it was slightly difficult to accomodate us all getting pedicures and manicures at the same time. There weren’t as many chairs available so some of us were persuaded to try some of their other services, one of which included massages.
The massage room was very tranquil, and had two massage beds next to each other. The massage therapists were very professional. However, this was the first massage I’ve ever had at a salon so the experience was very new to me. The girl that worked on me was very friendly and takes her job very seriously. She explained how it’s important to keep breathing, and every time she reached a «knot» somewhere, she told me to take even deeper breaths. She explained how it’s important to stay well hydrated and explained that I might even feel sore the next day. I really had no idea there was so much involved with getting a relaxing massage but I am grateful for her thorough and communicative time with me. I’m usually not in Tempe, but I would definitely recommend getting a massage here.
My sister in law received a manicure, but it seemd slightly rushed and her nails only turned out «okay.» She thought that she could have done a similar job painting her own nails at home and wished that a massage came with the manicure as well, so one could see how she was disappointed in her experience. I guess most places even with the $ 20 – 30 manicures, the manicurists typically gives somewhat of a hand massage in the process. I don’t get them often though, so I felt bad that my sister in law’s experience wasn’t as nice as mine.

Jessica W. cuts and styles my hair, and I have been very happy with her work. She is friendly and does an excellent job of taking my preferences into consideration. Her prices are very reasonable for the excellent job she does. I drive from Surprise to Tempe to see her, and wouldn’t consider going to anyone else.

Found this place thanks to Groupon. When I’m ready for a haircut, I cannot wait! But, in the past I’ve sometimes made rash decisions on impulse (see «perm» filed in 1996 or any visit to Great Clips I’ve made) … Lauren was a friendly stylist who gave me a really great haircut and conditioning treatment in a really decent amount of time. I will return!

Kudos to Nicki! I have received great service with experience with Nicki at Vanity on Mill — I had been growing my hair to be able to donate it to Locks for Love and while Nicki took off my 13″ braid to send off, she also left me with a stylish and flattering new hair style– and 3 months later, I’m still receiving great compliments on my cut and style.
If you’re stuck with the same standard hair style like I was, don’t hesitate to let Nicki and Vanity on Mill freshen it up, you won’t regret it!
The Salon has a hip boutique fell as well and is a fun environment to visit!

I like the relaxed atmosphere of this salon; the décor and color look and fill all works out for this place not too far from downtown Mill. I had a hair cut here and it came out very well; they take their time cutting your hair. I came here after I was disappointed in another cut I had another place and one of the ladies there fixed it for me for free while I was waiting for other service. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great hair cut :)

I see Jessica for my color and she is amazing. She uses quality products and her work is exceptional. I would recommend seeing her for all over color or highlights.

Vanity on Mill is the best place to fill all of your salon needs. I have been coming to Nicki and Amie for years. Nicki does an amazing job on my hair every time I see her. Amie takes care of all of my laser hair removal and I have been thrilled with the results. I love the fact that the salon features local artists and showcases their art. The salon is constantly evolving. They recently added a coffee bar too! I will be a loyal and satisfied customer for life.

Barri Chase has been my hair stylist at Vanity on Mill for years. She is fantastic. She is the only person that can tame my ultra-​curly hair into an easy-​to-​manage professional style. It’s easiest to schedule with her if you call her direct # 480−251−6259. Thanks for being so awesome Barri!

A few years ago I was bartending at a local pub when some of my customers gave me a business card for Vanity on Mill. Being a new mom I had started to neglect getting hair cuts along with pedicures and tanning. I decided to give them a call as it was time for a new «do.» I got in touch with Nicki and scheduled an appointment. From the moment I walked in I was impressed. Everyone was super friendly, the décor was unique, it just felt right. Nicki did a great job on my cut and color. She was really professional and made sure that I would leave feeling great about my new style. I’ve gone back numerous times and will continue to as long as I’m in AZ. I’ve referred many of my friends to make an appointment with her. This holiday season Nicki sent me a msg offering to give me a free blow out if I had any Christmas parties to attend, WOW! Almost every time I’ve gone in she’s told me to call her if I had trouble with styling or wasn’t happy with the color, something that’s never happened at any other salons I’ve gone too. Thank you Nicki and Vanity for making a regular customer of me!

If you don’t know about Vanity on Mill, you’re missing out. It is a nifty little hair/​beauty salon with great atmosphere and great staff. The salon has recently been renovated and is bright and cheerful, with a definite funky vibe. It is a converted home and is vintage chic. They showcase local artists on the walls and hold frequent openings to announce the newest art rotation. Be sure to bring cash, this gem does not accept credit cards.
