Journeys Counseling Center was founded as a place where people of all walks of life can seek health and personal growth. Our multi-disciplinary team of therapists was selected for their expertise, commitment to people, and authenticity. In a fast-paced, insurance driven medical field, the tried and true elements of healing can be forgotten. Working with our excellent, highly trained team of professionals to get the best fit for you and/or your family is a rare find. We keep our costs competitive with current market rates for counseling. By not contracting with insurance companies, we find that we can collaborate with clients regarding decisions for mental health care. In addition, Journeys is committed to healthy teamwork. This team approach allows for multiple members of families to seek treatment at the same time and gives you a variety of options to reach your personal and relational goals.

Business Owner
Dr. Thorstad has worked and studied in the mental health field for over 19 years, gaining experience across the continuum of psychological care. She received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and went on to pursue graduate work in clinical psychology at Biola University, Rosemead School of Psychology in southern California. She completed her internship at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego and served as a Navy psychologist for three additional years, gaining an expertise in post-traumatic responses and treatment. She specializes in general mental health care, trauma and abuse recovery, and marriage counseling. Dr. Thorstad founded Journeys Counseling Center because of her commitment to excellent, holistic mental health care and is excited to lead the excellent team of clinicians at Journeys.
