John J. DeBarros, FACS, FASMBS

Dr. DeBarros is the most amazing doctor. I had my surgery done in 2007 and have never regretted a day of it. I can not say enough about Dr DeBarros and Dr. Orris and Mike Murphy RD and staff, they are very caring and want you to succeed in your weight loss journey regardless of what surgery you have done there (Lapband, Gastric Bypass, Sleeve). I had the lapband done and I still go in on occasion to follow up or just to show them how well I’m doing. I am treated like family and if I have any questions or concerns they are more than willing to help and go the extra mile for me. I will continue going there and suggest that anyone thinking about weight loss surgery go there and check them out, you will not regret it.

It is so sad when a medical staff refuse to service a emergency patient. I was a emergency patient who has not been able to keep any food or water down and was refused to be medically treated by the doctor because of a fee which a staff employee Alicia said «this is a fee that we can charge you no matter what the amount because your surgery was not done by us, but if you were a patient who did their surgery by us, then we would accom. you»… This is so sad that they turned away a patient for a additional cash fee which could have been waived since i was using insurance. I hope the doctor does see this comment and i will make sure they are aware of this. It is not ok to turn away a lap and patient who has informed a staff that she has not drank water for 3 days in this 117 degree heat… Shame on this staff who did nothing to help accommodate me… These are the employees and bad nurse staff that we are all scared of. I highly recommend these employees seek a ethical class and a class about lap band emergency situations.

Dr Debarros has been my Dr for 3 years now. He has a great bedside manner and is very humorous. However, he is also a greatDr. I trust him completely whenit comes to medical advice, very easy to talk to.

I became aware of Dr DeBarros when I required emergency gall bladder surgery. The first time we met was me on a gurney waiting to be taken into surgery. In that emergency situation, he was confident and reassuring. The follow up visit with him left a lasting positive impression.
Fast forward 6 years, I am researching weight loss surgeries and my first thought was Dr DeBarros. He is very thorough and honest when answering questions and discussing options. If he has concerns or hesitations about a certain procedure, he will ensure the proper tests are performed. He checked all of my information in the system and verified all the information was correct. He did not just take for granted that others had entered the information correctly. Dr DeBarros will be performing an EGD to make sure I am a candidate for the sleeve. I am excited about the EGD and finding out the results. I highly recommend Dr DeBarros. Dr DeBarros is an excellent Dr and surgeon. He explains procedure and answers questions. He is a very caring and thorough physician .
His bedside manner on the other hand is terrible.
I witnessed him yelling at staff and he is also very intimidating.
