American Associates Real Estate

My review is not on American Associates, it is in regards to the owners that they represent. Which makes it hard for A.A. My property manager is hard to get a hold of, but i do know she is very over worked and is always busy. It does take me a couple times to get a hold of her. But when i do she is on the ball and making things happen. I spoke with another woman in the office too. She works in the second office on the left. She was very understanding and was on top of my concerns.
My issues are this. On my viewing date, i came into dead roaches, and bugs in the apartment, and a puddle of water and a leaking roof in one of the bedrooms. Melissa made sure that was taken care of by the time i was to move in. Then the AC ducts and coils needed to be cleaned. I spoke with their maintenance department, which they were on top of things. i forgot what the woman’s name was but she had me send her photos and that things can get moved faster. The only issue that came up was the vendor that was to clean the coils ended up knocking the thermostat of track and my apartment was in the 50’s for a few days. Which could of been avoided if he was to call me and let me know he was coming. When i tried to meet him he said he was to busy and was going to leave. I live less than 2 miles from my apartment. he could of waited. then the following Monday he was to come over and was over 3 hours late. The next thing was my microwave being out. Now the woman that works in maintenance fought for me to get a new one. But i understand that it is not need. But then i come to find out that my stove top doesn’t work. I called and spoke with David i believe. he was on top of things with that. Now there was a time they said they did not have my number and David said he made a mistake and forgot to put the number on the work order. I really do respect him for his honesty. We made the correction the vendor called me, but then took over 3 days to get the new stove in to my apartment. Now the thing that put me over the top though was this. I ended up having an infestation of bed bugs in my apartment. To me these are unlivable conditions. Maintenance has contacted a pest control company, named David’s Pest control. He is awesome and has been helping me out. But what has come from this is the bigger issue. Spending 70 dollars on laundry to kill the bed bugs, throwing my bed and my two children’s beds away due to the bugs. Not being able to unpack my belongs, feelings as though i always have something crawling on me. Not being able to have my children in my apartment due to my daughter being allergic to the bugs.
When i went to speak with the manager at the office, referring back to the woman in the second office on the left. She was very understanding, and trying to help, with either breaking my lease, or getting some kind of a rent credit. From what i have seen, i will either have to pay some kind of fees to break my lease, or pay full rent. I have not been in my apartment for even a month now. its been about 3 weeks and i have been dealing with all of this. American Associates have done all they can. But, the Owners of the property, and poor choice in vendors are what have made this experience horrible. Not being able to properly cook food, sleep comfortably, and not have my children in my apartment. To me is completely ludicrous. For a company to have tenants and not take care of their tenants is why they do not have people trying to start year after year. I feel bad for American Associates because they have to represent someone that does not care about the quality of service they provide their customers. Just because you are an LLC, that has over 500 properties doesn’t mean you need to be cold hearted. Some kind of compassion should be given to people living in crappy circumstances. A rent credit or the ability to freely break the lease should be something offered when living in conditions such as mine. Yet there are neither of the two. So as i stated before, this has nothing to do with the service with American Associates, but it has to deal with the company that they have to represent, and the vendors that they must use.
I want to thank Melissa, the maintenance staff for all the help they have provided me while i have been trying to handle all these issues.

Cindy Johnson at American Associates Property Management is the sweetest, most patient & attentive agent I’ve ever worked with as a renter. She worked to get me precisely the home I wanted, at a price that fit my budget, and tolerated every dumb question I could come up with over my 2 year residence. It made me sad to leave AZ, if for no other reason than having a professional of Cindy’s caliber in my corner!

I am a rental property owner. When you read reviews about rental property management companies keep in mind that they often get a bad rap. They are stuck somewhere between the renter and the owner.
I often see that they are attacked by the tenant and sometimes especially when people rent their homes for the first time or have no other rental property to rent. They end up being shocked that people do not treat their homes as if they owned it.
I recently had been contacted about my property and that issue was resolved to my satisfaction. For some reason my income tax information didn’t make it to me and my CPA appointment is next week. This property management company sent me the information so I could do my taxes so I really appreciate getting that from them.

Similar to other reviews, they are nice and pleasant to begin with. The trouble starts after. Terrible service, practically non existent when it comes to returning calls or messages. But heaven forbid you are so much as 1 nanosecond late with your rent. Poof! They appear from thin air.
I am vacating my property this week and despite having told them about numerous items that have needed repairs since we moved in, nothing has been done. I eagerly await the «professionals» to ding me for that.
Every person connected with this organization is clueless and incompetent to what their clients need and expect.

***PLEASE READ***, this is a fraud alert from this company. I rented a property from these people for 1 year. Here is my experience. The initial renting procedure was pleasant and accommodating. When I arrived on the property I wrote down everything that was wrong with the place on their initial walk through sheet and mailed it to them. We noticed that the shower needs to be re-​caulked and have mold removed. I called Prudential and they sent someone out to clean the mold out, and repair the caulking. The mold grew back and I called them again. They sent another person out to remove the mold, but stated that where we see the mold is only on the surface and that it is growing underneath the shower. Called Prudential about this and they ignored the issue. So we let it go for the time being because we had another full bathroom if we needed to shower. Then our AC unit goes out and it takes Prudential over 21 days to fix it, this is all happening in the month of July in 105 degree weather so my wife and I had to stay at my parents house. We were not sure if we had to move out of our house after it being unlivable for over 3 weeks so we withheld our rent as any reasonable person would do and told them from the beginning and they agreed. After they fix the A/​C unit, instead of discounting the rent even for a couple days worth of a discount. they lied and said they never agreed to us not paying them until they get it fixed and hit me with $ 541.45 worth of fines, fees and also a court date to have me evicted. I agreed to pay it verses my better judgment. After my lease agreement ended and I moved out I believe I was going to get a good sum of my deposit back. I should have known that they were going to screw me on that too. In my initial walk through report, we stated on paper, that the shower had mold and needed to be re caulked, even though Prudential did the repair themselves because it was an existing issue, they still took the money ($ 80) out of my Security Deposit. After I asked why they did that, because it was in my report, they CONVENIENTLY lost my walk through report and told me if I had a problem with it I had to prove it. I asked if they can check into their records to see that they had to send someone out to repair this issue and they told me they had no idea what I’m talking about. Also when I moved in the home owner did not have the house professionally cleaned. According to Bruce Lindberg he stated that when we moved out to just clean it about the same as we found it. So on our move out we cleaned it, vacuumed the carpets and wiped the kitchen clean. And because prudential had to send out a cleaning crew even after we moved in the house was cleaner than when we got it. But of course prudential took ($ 150) money out of my security deposit to have it cleaned again. I asked why they did that, because the house wasn’t professionally cleaned when I got it and we were not instructed to have it professionally cleaned when we moved out and they said I didn’t do a good enough job. They also said that the yard was not maintained and charged me another ($ 150) for a landscaper to come out and trim the bushes. Which is funny because after I moved out and get charged the $ 150.00 for yard work, I went to the property and took pictures of the yard and NO YARD WORK was done. So where did that $ 150 go? Right into the pockets of the crooks at Prudential. All in all I would strongly recommend working with any other property management group if you don’t want to get scammed out of your security deposit. They will purposely lose your walk through sheet and just charge you whatever they want. They stole my money to repair existing issues on their property. And if I had a problem with it, tough, prove it. This office is filled with a small group of people covering each other’s backs and screwing over their tenants. I have currently filed my complaints with the Attorney General’s office and they are going to start looking into this group of individuals for other complaints like mine and assessing a fraud report. They also suggested that I seek legal council to obtain my losses. All this because Prudential did not want to be reasonable or fair with my money.
