I was referred to Dr. Robinson for physical therapy. My first appointment was an absolute ish show. I showed up at 9:15 for my 9:30 appointment to allow time for new patient paperwork, which was not even given to me until close to 10:00. I then continued waiting in the unpleasant old waiting room until after 10:30 when my name was finally called. Once in the exam room, I waited a few more minutes and a (nurse?) came in to confirm who I was and why I was there. A few minutes later Dr. Robinson came in and told me I need to wait a few more weeks before starting anything. I left at 11:07. Yes, way more than an hour and a half just to be told I need to reschedule. He didn’t even look at or touch my shoulder. This could’ve been communicated to me over phone or email maybe instead of wasting pretty much my entire morning. TOTAL disrespect for my time.
So I scheduled an appointment a couple weeks out as I was told, again for 9:30AM.
In the meantime I got a bill for treatment! REALLY?! The treatment I was told I couldn’t get yet?!
I showed up for my 2^nd appointment today and once again, the nasty old reception area was a hot mess. After waiting until 10:30, I told the receptionist I am out of time and I am leaving without rescheduling. She kindly told me I would be next, but that was way too little and too late.
I am absolutely appalled at how this place conducts business.

I fractured my wrist and Dr. Ellis saw me during my hospital stay. He was in and out but was extremely nice.
I got my cast on last Friday. we did have a bit of a wait, however the staff was very accommodating and pleasant. The Doctor gets extra points for calling me young lady (I know, I know), but he answered all our questions and we had quite a few.
The cast is driving me crazy so I hope this will be the fastest month ever!

I was referred to see Dr Ellis for back pain and a dislocated Coccyx. His staff was nice and helpful. Once I saw Dr Ellis, he told me that he was too busy to call and speak to the chiropractor who I’ve been working with and refused to examine me and just wanted to send me away with more pain medication. When I asked him to help me and help work on finding a resolution he stormed out of the office slamming the door and told his staff that I wasn’t welcome back in his office. He was the rudest, most condescending man I have ever spoken with. He was completely unwilling to help me. DO NOT GO TO THIS OFFICE! After I called my referring physician she told me that in her past experience with him, that she left their office crying because he was so mean to her. This is just bad business!!! I am completely disappointed and will never be going back there again and I hope you never have to deal with this Jerk of a doctor!

I was stressed, scared, and overwhelmed… I got recommended to this location from the rancho springs emergency room after my boyfriend broke his arm. I called the next morning, and the staff was absolutely wonderful. I have never felt more at ease in a situation i knew nothing about. To walk into a business, especially when you don’t have insurance is very nerve wracking, but when you have people who truly help you and make you feel at ease, that is worth every penny to me. The dr was great and to the point, yes he was quick and out but helped us with everything and sent the girls in to help us with insurance questions. Thank you, for making a stressful, scary situation at ease. You guys rock. Thank you for not just taking my money and throwing me a piece of paper and sending me on my way, thank you for taking the time to help.

Staff seem stressed and overworked. They made a big deal about having my pharmacy information in the beginning. Then they write a prescription and tell me I have to take it and wait. I asked them why, don’t they hav the ability to send electronically? Then they say only a medical assistant can to it, they go to find one and come back and tell me the system is down. Dr. Ellis doesn’t listen to his patients either. I won’t be going to him for the follow up in three weeks.

Very unprofessional and arrogant. Treats his staff poorly and witnessed him yelling and degrading his nurse over my chart. I would never go to him again.

I was referred to Dr. Ellis in Temecula, CA for a 2^nd opinion after having a knee replacement and after 5 months, still not able to bend knee. My appt. was at 11:00 and I sat for 1 ½ hrs. before being called in.
Dr. Ellis entered the room and introduced himself. He also said «Here are my rules for a 2^nd opinion. You are not allowed to talk about the other Dr. and you are not allowed to discuss with me what you previously talked about with that Dr. Do you understand?» I could tell right off this was not going to go well. He started lecturing me about something that had nothing to do with my appt. He was condescending to me. He made me cry. He did not allow me to talk about what the issues were that I had experienced over the past 5 months. When I did start to speak, he told me it wasn’t my turn to talk.
I was never allowed to tell him what I had physically been experiencing over the 5 months.
He was rude, condescending and very nasty to me. When I started to cry, he said «Oh did I hurt your feelings?» At this point I stood up and said we were finished with the appt. I have never been to a Dr. that was so unprofessional & unethical. He basically blamed me for my condition. Had he allowed me to speak I would have been able to share with him that my insurance only covers physical therapy 2x a week. He does not care what you have to say. So, if you are going for a 2^nd opinion, Dr. Ellis isn’t the doctor to see if you want someone warm, caring and understanding.
I will never recommend him to another patient. I was looking for answers today, not a lecture.
My primary doctor and his medical group are going to get an earful next week about Dr. Ellis. At my primary doctors office, patients are the priority!
I also will be notifying the California Medical Board of his behavior.

My 7 year old broke 2 fingers and was referred to Dr. Ellis. We had to wait a week for initial appointment. He placed a cast up to her elbows and instructed us to return in 3 weeks for removal. Issue was in 3 weeks he would be on vacation. We pushed the appointment to the following week (4 weeks) noting that we leave on vacation so keep the earliest appointment at 8:30.
I received a call at 7:30 from Tara that Dr. cancelled all morning appointments. Asked to see another doctor as we where leaving for vacation right after but none available. Asked for a referral to another doctor to remove cast and was told by Tara that they do not work with or refer to any other doctors. Asked about the pediatrician and was told many do not have the tools. Asked for a solution and THEN and only THEN did Tara offer to set an appointment for 12:45 the same day.
Dr. Ellis is tenured enough to deploy a best in class business operations. Most specialist are busy in our area. The fact that he does not equip his office team with solutions or have a network of physicians to help him when he is no5 able to fulfill his scheduled comitments is concerning.
I’m informing my Pediatrician as she should utilize a ortho that is able to provide better service. I filed a grievance with my insurance as there is obviously a network adaquecy issue and Dr. Ellis can benefit from education to utlize the insurance network to refer to other physicians if he is to busy.
I would not recommend Dr. Ellis for minor breaks especially if you have a child. His team is ill equipped and he lacks the professionalism to keep a calendar.
We are all consumers… buyer beware!

I love Dr. Ellis. He did surgery to repair a badly broken leg 17 years ago. I’ve been back several times due to osteoarthritis in both my knees, requiring cortisone shots to reduce pain and inflammation. Dr. Ellis is the most empathetic doctor I know. He spends time to listen and explain any procedures fully. My husband and son have also been patients of Dr. Ellis and we would not go anywhere else for orthopedic care.

Having worked with doctors for many years, I can recognize a busy, organized doctor. That is Dr. Ellis. I found him to be very good. He covered all the bases of my knee problem. I knew he was right on because I have had several issues with this knee in the past. We were traveling through California when my knee acted up and his office got me in promptly. His treatment was just what I needed.
I noticed posts about Dr. Ellis which were not very favorable. The posts complained that he was too abrupt and didn’t take enough time. NOT TRUE! He is a very busy doc who zooms right in to assess the problem and recommends the best plan of action. If you want a doc who sits and listens to you for a long time, then go find one. Insurance companies make it very difficult for docs to spend a lot of time with each patient.
All in all, if you have an orthopedic issue, don’t hesitate to see Dr. Ellis!

I have been going to Dr. Ellis for almost 20 years to rebuild what I break. I’ve had knee repairs, 8 times, knee replacement, rotator cuff repairs, ankle repairs. He can be impatient because he wants you to have the best results and wants his patients to work at getting better. I have gone to other orthopedic surgeons and know that Dr. Ellis is without a doubt the best!

Most unprofessional, condescending, arrogant doctor I have had the misfortune seeing. Does not like to be questioned, I believe this is why the comments here are so different. If you don’t question him, or buy into his god complex then you might think he’s a good doctor, however if you ask questions he becomes incredibly arrogant and condescending and doesn’t want to treat you.

Dr Ellis performed my hip replacement in January. He is excellent in every area. The office staff are fantastic.

It’s unfortunate that only the bad reviews get posted. I just had surgery with Dr. Ellis on Thursday. He is an amazing surgeon, my incision looks fantastic, and he has been very accommodating. I had a reaction to medication and he met me at the emergency room to confirm that the surgery still looked good and no infection had set in. Their on call doctors have been fantastic answering questions and giving tips. Give this man a try, he is short, unless you ask all the questions you need. Plus his surgery assistant Anna answers every possible question you might have. She was a sweetheart! I would give his office 10 stars if possible!

I just left this office, I do not understand what just happened. I do not know if my knee has an injury or not. Dr. Ellis asked me how I supported myself, I felt humiliated. He got on my case because of the medications prescribed to me by another doctor. At first he was going to treat my knee until I told him about my other medications, now I have no idea what exactly is my diagnoses. I know he returned me to my primary.
An amendment:
I saw Dr. Ellis’ associate, Dr. Steven Kelley, he looked at my knee, he ordered diagnostics, he removed the torn cartilage in November 2014, I am very thankful to Dr. Kelley, he is great.

I’m really surprised by some of the reviews on Dr. Ellis. I’ve had 6 surgeries done for different injuries through the last 15 years. Every time the result has been great. Also had injuries that did not require surgery. He has always explained what the issue was and his concerns about my problem. Surgery coordinator is great and staff has always been very professional. I don’t expect to be 100% after every surgery but I do my part after the surgeries and seem to be good as ever. Perhaps if I’d stop falling down or taking surf trips I would not need Dr. Ellis but I’m glad he is there to put me back together. Wait times are sometimes long but I’ve only experienced that a few times.

Dr. Ellis is rude, condescending, doesn’t listen, doesn’t allow you to ask questions, doesn’t care, and misdiagnosed my husband. I went to an appointment with my husband because I didn’t believe Dr. Ellis could be as bad as my husband was making him out to be. While we were sitting there, the doctor popped his head in, my husband asked a question– Dr. Ellis didn’t answer him, turned around, walked out of the room, and never came back.
Dr. Ellis cancelled my husband’s PT which was helping him, causing permanent damage (and was found by an AME to be responsible for the magnitude of his current injury due to negligence) and he is still severely injured permanently more than 3 years after having Dr. Ellis as his Ortho. The doctor was negligent and uncaring and I would never recommend him to any person who has an orthopedic surgeon need.
As far as the office goes, a standard wait was between 3 – 6 hours and staff don’t like to answer phone calls or return messages.

Dr. Ellis was very condescending during my visit. He didn’t listen well, nor did he answer all of my questions.
I have a very sore shoulder, and he said I had spinal compression, and told me to go ahead and do anything I wanted with my shoulder. So, I cleaned, lifted things, went surfing, and my shoulder got worse.
I was supposed to return in a month. Cancelled appointment.
Very unprofessional, and you’d be better off seeing a «GOOD», recommended by a friend or other doctor, orthopedist.
I did go to a great orthopedist, Dr. Dellman, and he had me do an MRI, and turns out I have tendonitis, and bone spurs. So, Dr. Ellis didn’t do the MRI, or diagnose me properly. Wouldn’t recommend him at all.

Dr. John Ellis in Temecula has performed 3 surgeries left and right meniscus and one ACL that i got while playing racquetball all surgeries went very well in fact after both meniscus operations i was back at my desk that afternoon the ACL if any of you watch sports is a lot more severe and will take you out for the season I’m back playing racquetball and have no pain. all the staff are super nice and would and do recommend them my wife works for a nearby hospital and knows the good ones and all the bad ones and she says he’s the best of the best.

The wait is ridiculous! Appt. was at 3:30. Checked in at 3:15 and now it’s 5:30 and I’m still waiting. Almost 3 hours later. Not happy! Waste of my time. Not to mention the fact that nobody that works there offered any information as to why the wait was so long. Also. Bedside manner with kids is not good !!
