Creative Pool & Landscape

A terrible experience. Some may be my fault for not following the old adage of caveat emptor, buyer beware. The owner Eric Plain arrived to evaluate my property for construction and painted a rosy picture of «we can do this and we can do that». He drew me into his office to show this video of how great everything is going to look. Everything looked so great I was more than eager to sign the contract since the price seemed quite reasonable. The first day of construction they brought old Bobcats with treads worn smooth on the tread. They were unable to achieve the proper depth. The owner called back telling me I would have to pay another $ 1,000 dollars on the first day for extra equipment. I refused and protested vehemently. He relented eventually rudely saying he would eat the cost. They brought a little backhoe in the next day and was still unable to finish. I told John the construction supervisor to just spray a little water in the hole and dig. He protested and I left him to his own devices. A little later I noticed him spraying water in the hole and within an hour the hole was done. His response was «people don’t realize what a little water can do». Duh! Progress continued although slow fro then without major obstacles. I have to say that the subcontractors were excellent. The finished pool was excellent in appearance and flatwork was done well. In the end the pool equipment installed could only be run by remote control. The remote system was never supplied. Even after complaining it was never supplied. I continually had to give direction on how to complete the job to John not about how I wanted it done but how to complete a job when they became stumped how to do the job. The Creative crew is not competent in their skills. Contrary to another review there are many subcontractors completing the work. I eventually had to pay for a remote system from another company and install it. There are numerous other problems with this contractor but this would turn into a novel. Bottomline what he tells you in his sales pitch is nothing like you receive in the end. I believe they are capable of delivering an adequate product but before signing the contract take it home with you and review it once then twice to see if what you want is there then when you think you are sure review again and if you don’t see what he tells you he can do then decide to either one make him put it in there or find someone else. In my opinion, find someone else.

This is the second pool I have constructed in my lifetime and it went much better than the first time. Eric, the owner, came to my house at exactly the time we agreed upon. He listened intently, as my wife and I described what we wanted. He gave ideas and returned the next week with a computerized concept of how our backyard would look. As a consumer, it is important to realize that this is just a starting point. As construction began, my wife and I brought other ideas to the table. John, the superintendent in charge of construction would always listen to ideas or questions I had. We worked very well as a team listening to each other throughout the construction. We upgraded multiple times from the original proposal. Yes, it cost more money but nothing is free. Eric and John worked with me to get me what I wanted at a reasonable price. The end result is a magnificent backyard with a beautiful pool. Eric and John were both here today after they finished installing my last landscape lights. I would highly recommend Creative Pools and Landscape.

A bunch of lip service… Spent over $ 100k and so much went wrong. Didn’t honor our contract and left us with a job incomplete.

Creative pool and landscape did a fantastic job on my backyard. The proof is in the pictures. They perform quality work and John the supervisor is so on top of things. We made a lot of add ons along the way and he went above and beyond to accommodate us.
The reason I like this company is because they are the ones that build the pools; they don’t outsource to other companies; and they are extremely knowledgeable. They know what they’re doing and they create beautiful, high quality pools.
Eric, the owner is a kind, likable guy and has had a lot of experience with pools. When making your designs and specifics; he will be very honest about long term effects and the aesthetics. He can be hard to get a hold of at times but would I use this company again? Yes! In a New York minute. It’s worth it. Will post more pics soon!

Creative pools did an AMAZING job with our pool. We met with many different pool companies but went with Eric because I liked his design and vision of our pool. He took our ideas and made them better.
John was always available and answered all our questions throughout the process. Putting in a pool is a big commitment and I am glad we chose Creative Pools.
We wanted a family friendly pool because we have young children. Our pool has a beautiful large Baja reef for the kids to play in and for us to sunbathe. And nice benches in the deeper end to hang out on. All the details came together wonderfully and I could not be more happier. The kids LOVE it! I will add some photos also.

Called twice, left messages. No return call. Sent email, received call back from female owner (husband/​wife business). Made appt for Thurs, May 30. The male owner was supposed to come at noon to look at the job, give an estimate/​talk about job. I preferred afternoon but female owner who made the appt told me, We have a graduation to attend at 4:00. I moved some things around to accommodate the noon appt. At 11:30 got a call from the male owner on voicemail saying «Whoever took the appt didn’t realize we have a graduation today. I won’t be able to make it. I can come Monday.» WHAT? First, they did know they had a graduation. And if that were true, you didn’t realize before 30 minutes prior to the appt that you had a conflict FOUR HOURS LATER??? Called back. Voicemail. Asked them to resched. No call yet, almost two weeks later. HORRIBLE customer service. Beware. This is a huge red flag for me when working with any business, but particularly construction-​related businesses. If they can’t even make it out to do the estimate, how long will the job drag out while I’m waiting for them to show up to do the work??? No thanks.
