Description

Specialties

Classy, historic 1895 miners’ «strike it rich» saloon, now steakhouse, bar and café — serving breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, an espresso or glass of Cruvinet cared for wine at any time.

Café tables overlooking main street (for people and dog watching), or fine dining with steakhouse traditionals with a twist: elk, bison, rabbit, striped bass, fine aged steaks, truffle fries, oysters and the usual steak house sides ordered à la carte.

Here is the social heart of Telluride, always packed with locals and travelers –Telluride’s mountain hot-spot for all ages. Always caring as it juggles tables to get all its diners in each night.

The 1895 mining town saloon bar renovated with cut glass, mirrors, and rich brocade — a reimagined Victorian eatery.

Wines — with a Cruvinet preserving dozens of wines, the tasting palate is nurtured to dip into the deep list — open to newbies but founded on many «greats».

$ 21 steak or salmon and wine special –only available at the bar or in the Parlor.

History

Established in 1895.

This is the only historic Telluride hotel and one of the few of Colorado’s historic hotels dating from the mining days.

Opened in 1891, just four years after Telluride was founded, the New Sheridan Hotel has been welcoming guests for over 100 years in its rebuilt in 1895 form.

Completely renovated in 2008, with designs by the British designer, Nina Campbell retaining and highlighting the history with fine Victorian style furnishings, details, fabrics, papers, and moldings. Throughout, she has set archival photos of the silver and gold miners.

Meet the Manager

Ray F.

Manager

From California

Ray landed in Telluride after working in hospitality in California. He was initially hired to manage the New Sheridan but seven years later he was asked also to oversee the Chop House Restaurant (many say the best in Telluride) and the Historic New Sheridan bar. As it turned out. It is a role at which he excels. Ray made changes to the restaurant and its style that were able to evolve The Chop House into one of Telluride’s favorite restaurants and the restaurant «scene», accomplished with the collaboration of the Exec Chef.

The success of the Chop House led the owner to invest over eight million dollars to redo the Chop House, the guest rooms and add on the Parlor.

The Passion

The New Sheridan is Ray’s baby; his passion is the surprise and delight of his guests. That passion pays off. With the help of several managers, Ray looks after the four businesses, with a full team of 90.

Ray says he «couldn’t do it without these great team players».
