Brown Dog Pizza

Pizza might be decent but you wait so long to get in and then the pizza takes another 45 minutes that by the time you get it, the only reason you like the food is because your starving and angry.
Waited 3 and half hours to get a decent gourmet pizza. The bar we were at across the street had delicious pizza and good cheap drinks with no wait

The Detroit style pizza is absolutely amazing. We had the Brooklyn and the italia and both were better than any pizza I had tried before. Well worth the long wait! If you haven’t tried it, you totally should!

I must admit, I’ve never had Detroit style pizza in Detroit. But, I’ve had it a few places and this is by far the best. The crust is perfectly cheesy at the edges. The toppings are fresh, flavorful and come in a wide variety of combinations. We enjoyed the Brooklyn Bridge and Parma Italia (my fav!). The draft beer selection was great. Our server was friendly and helpful without being too involved or pushy, a hard balance to achieve. I look forward to future visits here!

Love this place my 3^rd time here, the pizza is the best I have ever had! Try the Brooklyn bridge you can’t go wrong. Great atmosphere and local brews on tap as well.

It may be good pizza but the service is terrible. For the second year in a row my daughter & her friends tried to have dinner there. Both times they were told it was over a 2 hour wait. When they were finally allowed to get a table, they were overcharged with a 20% gratuity tagged on. They thought the teenagers wouldn’t notice or speak up I guess. I told the group not to patron this place again. Just rude.

The bartender saved our lives tonight after a long viewing of the Revenant across the street. We walked in, bellies full of nothing but some popcorn kernels, and were told by a waitress there was no more food. The bartender took us under his wing and told the waitress we had 4 more minutes. He put all of our orders in and served us some delicious draft while we waited. Brown Dog is a Telluride staple and we will always keep coming back. Even if it’s 4 minutes before close!

I’ve been here at least 6 times since I moved here in November 2015. I can confidently say the pizza is truly delicious. The «Old Chicago» stuffed crust pizza is outstanding. The deep dish Detroit style pies are worthy of a full blown addiction .
The service is uncomfortably casual at times and inconsistent. If this place ripped up that horrible carpet and the staff presented themselves like professionals, it would be one of the best pizza places in the country.
Ultra casual dive bar feel with great pizza is what this place is, and that’s okay.

My boyfriend and I were really excited to try this place because of all the hype on Unilocal.Garlic knots had a disgusting amount of minced garlic on them. My boyfriend ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza that did not live up to the hype. I ordered a BLT with avocado that was really awful. Bacon was basically raw. Despite all of that the atmosphere is great. Great spot to grab a beer and watch TV. But wouldn’t recommend ordering lunch.

Amazing pizza. The best in my opinion is the New York White pizza. Unbelievable! Their wings are awesome too, the best I’ve had possibly ever, anywhere. Their arugula salad was off the chain, unsuspectingly fancy and delicious. Love this :-)

Excited for the 1^st place international pizza challenge winner! Did not disappoint. Good beer selection as well.

Average food and rude/​arrogant service, which seems to be an epidemic in downtown Telluride. Why is this? Having visited the town in both summer and winter, we have unfortunately had far more negative service experiences than positive down in town. We gave this spot in particular a second chance but I won’t go back. Worst gluten free pizza I’ve ever had, and that is saying a lot. Wings great however.

I had a small Detroit style with pepperoni and a chocolate dog. The pizza was worth 5 stars but the wait for my to go order was not. I wish they were making the Chicago style all day sunday. I really wanted to try it.

Nevermind the pizza, although I’m sure it’s very good. The boneless wings are really, really excellent

INSANELY delicious. Ordered the Brooklyn Chicago style pizza, and am almost certain that the Pizza Gods blessed this delicious creation themselves. Just the right balance of crust, cheese, sauce, and toppings. Exquisitely delicious. This pizza memory will be one for the books, my friends.

They have slice specials for lunch! You don’t have to buy a whole pizza if you are flying solo.
So damn good (and cheap)! I came in twice during my short (but sweet) stay in Telluride. Both times I came for the lunch slice special. I travel full-​time and with pizza being one of my favorite things I try a lot of pizza places. Brown Dog is above and beyond good.
Go in, get a slice, leave happy.

5 stars for being the best Detroit-​style pizza that brings total college years nostalgia to my parents. I’d never had «Detroit style» pizza, and when my parents told me they discovered this place in Telluride that tasted almost exactly like what they were used to in their early 20s, I did what any child does and rolled my eyes.
However, when your Mom turns 60 and tells you she wants the whole family to celebrate at Brown Dog Pizza in Telluride, you listen. And boy am I glad we did! Some might ask what it is, and my best description is the crust is thick like Chicago style, yet somehow still very light. And the best part is the crust of burnt cheese, all the crispy cheese goodness baked right to the edge. The red sauce, cheese and toppings aren’t excessive, but more like a compliment to the amazing crust.
This place is small, and definitely gets packed. Décor is all about Michigan, which my sister in law loved having been born and raised there– even she was unfamiliar with Detroit style pizza, believe it or not! Service was decent but nothing special. Decent tap list. And prices are pretty good. I recently discovered a few Detroit style pizza joints closer to Denver, so we’ll have to compare and see if Brown Dog remains worth the drive to Telluride.

Initially, we found Brown Dog Pizza on Unilocal,Yelpping gluten free restaurants in the area. The reviews were outstanding, we had to go.
First time here we shared a gf pizza, it was the bomb diggity, as the kids say, lol
This last time, i had a gluten free hamburger with a gf bun, rare find. My Alex had a gf calzone, I have never seen anyone offer that! Of course i had some bites of his and that is what i will be getting the next time we come to Telluride.
The service both times we have been here has been outstanding!

The décor is cool. Sports for the sport lovers, Labrador pictures for the animal lovers. Lots of wood. Big and open at the bar, with tables providing some intimacy.
So basically, the pizza. As good as people have said. I got the Detroit Style Pizza (never heard of it until coming here), the Brooklyn Bridge (they boast it won 1^st place at the International Pizza completion). It is amazing. Very easily in the top three pizzas of my life (grew up in LA, living in NYC now, if that helps you any).
When I went to the bathroom, they had a quote from a USA Today review that basically said you’d have to come a few times before you order anything other than a Detroit pizza. Which is true. But I couldn’t even stray from one with different toppings.
Definitely something I will be dreaming about. Unfortunately, constantly.
