North American Bison
History
Established in 1739.
Our newly renovated dining room retains its warmth and the big stone fireplace that has the distinctive character and charm of colonial days. The bar has a cozy, neighborhood feeling with its wood floors, walls, oak bar top and unique «bison theme» décor. It offers entertainment every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night. The Liberty Bell Room, located on the second floor, offers an intimate setting for special parties and functions. Larger gatherings are welcomed in our 18th century newly refurbished barn that comfortably allows for 100 guests.
The Rising Sun Inn has ample, convenient parking.
Meet the Manager
Fred D.
Manager
Our Executive Chef Fred Duerr has a diverse background in culinary arts. Duerr began his restaurant career at age 13 as a dishwasher at the former Tremont Hotel in Lansdale, PA. From there he took on a job at Century House in Hatfield, PA, where owner Horst Herold was his mentor. He then went on to work hand-in-hand with celebrity Chef Tell Erhardt. In his many years with Chef Tell, Duerr learned to work hard and run a cost-efficient kitchen.
Chef Duerr’s accomplishments include his «Lobster Chef Fred’s Way» recipe published in Bön Appetit magazine, and chosen as «Chef des Cuisine» of the inaugural dinner for the Cayman Islands chapter of the Chaine des Rotisseurs. Using his talents and twenty years experience, Executive Chef Duerr uses only the best food purveyors and presents an unexpected level from his kitchen, providing Rising Sun Inn with an ever-changing menu that will tantalize your palate. His menu features healthy bison, veal, lamb, chicken, seafood, and pasta special
