Specialties

There is more to Latin Food than enchiladas, rice and beans and so we set out to build a restaurant that celebrates the diverse flavors of South America. Come join us for a culinary adventure as you try the traditional recipes and wines of Cuba, El Salvador, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and more all prepared with Juan’s artistic fusion style.

House specialties include our Cuban Pork Shank –slow braised and drenched with an aji chile sauce, Flat Iron Steak — marinated in a dry rub of spices and suggested medium rare, Zacateca Chile Verde — pan seared pork simmered in our unique fire roasted chile and tomato sauce, Arroz con Pollo — tender, dark meat is baked and then sautéed in a tantalizing plantain and chile sauce, Butternut Snapper Fillet –pan seared in Chilean white wine with hint of garlic, topped with butternut cream sauce, and for dessert, try our Chocolate Chimi — a flour tortilla filled with dark Venezuelan chocolate ganache & brandy served warm with vanilla bean ice cream.

History

Established in 2006.

Located off the beaten path in Old Town Tehachapi, Don Juan’s offers a surprising experience for our small community. Owned by Juan and Yolanda Acevedo, this unique restaurant was the culmination of Juan’s dream to provide the fresh flavors of South America using the finest ingredients available.

Their menu, which serves beef, pork, seafood, chicken and a wide variety of vegetarian options is comprised of Juan’s own unique Latin fusion recipes. Each hand-crafted entrée is prepared with whole foods, organic produce and wild caught seafood when available.

Don Juan’s expanded after less than two years in business and now runs a full bar in their upstairs lounge offering Tapas each afternoon. These small plates with big flavor can be enjoyed just as they are in most every bar and café in Spain. And wether you sit upstairs or down, you’ll enjoy the incredible wine list featuring the most extensive Latin wine list in Kern County.

So come savor the fresh Latin flavors of Don Juan’s!
