Meet the Business Owner
Kathy S.
Business Owner
Kathy Seal, an entrepreneur, teacher and pattern designer, found her calling at the age of nine when she started making yo-yos with her elderly next door neighbor. Quilting made a reappearance in her life while she was expecting her first child when Kathy’s mother gave her quilting lessons as a gift. In 1997, Kathy opened her shop, The Quilt Patch, in Tecumseh, MI which has outgrown its location twice in fifteen years. While running her shop and teaching quilters (and non-quilters!) of all skill levels, Kathy found time to start a pattern company, QP Quilts & Co. Her debut line of patterns, Basic Quilts, caters to quilters in need of only yardages, cutting sizes and general directions. She has also lectured at Schoolhouse presentations at International Quilt Market. Kathy resides in Tecumseh, MI with her husband, Mike, of 24 years.
