Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe

Very nice hotel. It was clean and very accommodating. The staff is amazing. I give them 5 stars!!! Everyone is super friendly and they remember your name when you go back. The only negative is you have to pay for WiFi? #firstworldproblems

I’ve certainly stayed at much better Marriotts. It only gets 3 stars because most of the hotel staff is good and it’s a large property with decent amenities. The rooms are old however, and the restaurant staff were just plain bad. I had to wait forever to be served and the dishes were dirty. The bar served me a beer and the glasses smelled gross, and the waitress didn’t even offer to comp my beer. Service just generally lacks and the rooms need upgrading.

Had a talk with Keith and he was able to go through the process that led to me getting a poor quality hotel room. I appreciate how open and honest he was and feel better about this hotel. Prior to this stay it was my favorite in the area and it will be again now.

Why did I choose this gym you asked? Well I’m glad you asked. I picked this place because of its location. Is accessible from the NJTP and/​or route 80.
Second because of the most up to date equipment. The facility is very clean. And I mean clean.
The staff is very friendly and oh so helpful. When you go please check out the pool. Amazing !!!

We were looking for a hotel near New York and with fall prices being through roof and our trip being somewhat short notice, we found the Marriott in Teaneck. To be fair, the hotel is of good quality. It provides a restful sleep in a quiet setting, but it lacks what even some of the more affordable Marriott brands offer. The rooms are a bit dated. Our bathroom was not in the best shape with rust and other stains around the tub area. The service was great and it is super easy to get to NYC or anywhere really in New Jersey based on its location, but I might opt to stay a newer Marriott even if it’s one of the budget brands.

Had the hotel Fri-​Sun. I did the mobile check-​in earlier in the day and they had my keys ready as I approached the desk. Mobile check-​in was very convenient as I had a long drive into NYC then NJ and I just wanted to go up to my room. To my surprise, they upgraded me to the concierge level and gave me access to the lounge. Too bad I didn’t get a chance to use it as I had to head back into the city.
The hotel property is huge!
Plenty of FREE parking on the property.
Easy access to the 95 freeway. It’s across the way and onto the NJ turnpike.
Room was large and clean.

BF has stayed here in the past for business. I tagged along this time and he mentioned how very accommodating the staff are.
Our room was very spacious and clean. Though we did encounter some nasty towels with brownish spots… It looked like someone burned it with an iron but you never know. I appreciate that housekeeping respected my privacy when I put the do not disturb sign on the door. There were a few times I would run into them in the hall way and they were very nice asking if I needed any more towels, etc.
There’s a bus station on the side of the hotel that goes to the Port Authority if you want to go into NYC. Hotel provides a bus schedule on request.
Only thing that was a hassle was that housekeeping called me early in the morning to ask if I had checked out yet so they could clean the room. I told her I wasn’t suppose to check out till the the next day. I then get a call from the front desk claiming I was suppose to check out that day… I had to tell her again it wasn’t suppose to be until the next day and she seemed to have an attitude about that. The BF did all the booking here so I thought maybe he made a mistake but he emailed me the confirmation email that he did book correctly. At that point it felt like they wanted us out. Not sure how our reservation got mixed up like that.

I booked a double room for May 23^rd for a Saturday night stay. I called on May 20^th in order to ensure and confirm my room and to check if we are allowed to check-​in earlier as it was the EDC weekend. Checkin was around 4pm and checkout was 12pm so they were NOT able to accommodate which was fine. I informed the person directly at the hotel that I would be checking in around midnight and to not let go of my room. She confirmed my room and I thought everything was fine. I checked in on May 24^th around midnight as I was tired with my full party of 5 including myself. Lo and behold, the room was not available! The front desk said I never had a reservation there to begin with. They informed me due to third party confirmations they could not confirm. I even told them I called 3 days in advance to let one of their staff know, and they said that was too in advance for them to accommodate! What kind of business do they run? I even asked them how much time in advance is good for them, 5 minutes??! I told them about the situation prior, made changes and notified them properly, and was not complied with the request even though it is their own error! Very incompetent staff always shifting blame to «third parties.»
I spoke to the General Manager, Keith about this matter and he has no clue as in how his staff took confirmations either. My direct room confirmation with them 3 days prior for a double room fell through. He said since it was through
that it’s on their end since they did not receive it. Which is strange since I called 3 days prior to ensure this doesn’t happen as I have bad luck with hotel accommodations and confirmed with one of their staff on May 20^th at 6:14pm with a woman.

that even gave me their confirmation number that this hotel gave them. I spoke to Keith who has the worst attitude that keeps asking in a demanding way, «well, what DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT?» Customer service isn’t about attitude or being flippant. He even lied about not having the recommendation as per usual protocol it happens there. So what if it happens you book 300 reservations or so a day? What if ²⁵⁰⁄₃₀₀ are garbage service as it happens mine were? I don’t think they’ll retain loyal clients with such demeanor and service. He said the reservation DID NOT guarantee the room preference. So what the hell does the room reservation is for? For me to sleep in their lobby and check-​in for a random room if there is even any?

I stayed at this hotel to attend a wedding held here as well. So I can’t say much about the hotel’s pool, spa, fitness center, or other amenities. The wedding events pretty much took up most of my day.
What I can say about the hotel is that it’s pretty large and the service was excellent. They have a private parking lot with plenty of spaces. They are located about 2 miles from the George Washington Bridge. They have plenty of conference rooms to hold events. The room was very clean with a flat screen TV, sofa, chair, and desk.
The wedding itself was amazing… about 400 people, so it wasn’t small by any means. They had plenty of space for all the meals served (breakfast, lunch, cocktail hour, reception). The food was very fresh and tasty. The servers were polite, friendly, and knowledgeable.
All and all, I would recommend this hotel to others.

The restaurant has notoriously slow service. The food is ok. The biggest plus is that it is close to highways. Good catering and big halls for events.

Stayed here for business.
For the most part, a lovely hotel and my stay was fairly uneventful.
PROS:
*Great bed
*Amazing shower
*Next to a freeway but the windows blocked out most of that noise
*Super friendly staff — they all acknowledge you and say hello
*Big room
*Close to NY — I could see the skyline from my room
MEH:
*No refrigerator — I improvised with an ice bucket as long as I could but a fridge in the room would be great
*A little rundown if you look closely — trims, furniture etc
CONS:
*Windows kept out noise but walls did not. I could hear my neighbor moving around and having conversations. Luckily she was fairly quiet but thin walls.
*Waitress at in-​hotel restaurant was inattentive and borderline sullen
*Odd location with NOTHING near by — this is next to some offices and there are no amenities/​stores/​restaurants nearby. Even a short drive to find a grocery store got me nowhere — I eventually found a Walgreens but be advised there is nothing around.

No complaints about this hotel! Comes with everything you need in a hotel (except for a starbucks). They brew starbucks coffee, but no real starbucks to have your morning fix.
The rooms are clean, spacious, and very modern. Can’t say much about it other than that.
The service was excpetional, EXCEPT for this lady who checked us in. Would a smile kill you? I swear she hated us, except we just met her. At the end of my trip I asked her if there was a mailbox around so I can send a postcard, and it was as if I asked her to walk to the post office for me and hand deliver my postcard. Terrible customer service. that minus 1 star is for her. Otherwise, I would’ve given 5.

Wonderful hotel with comfortable beds, and guess what? There’s a magical gym and spa connected to the hotel that is free to all Marriott hotel guests! They have gender separated saunas and steam rooms, and two jacuzzis and a gorgeous pool with a glass ceiling! The hotel is lovely and has a great open spacious lobby with tasty cucumber water all the time, and pancetta, the hotel restaurant is super damn tasty.

Went here for a business trip and the hotel was SUPER clean and friendly staff! Amazing food & everyone was so welcoming with smiles. The hotel is very big & up to date! My only complaint is that their isn’t wifi in the rooms :(you have to pay for it. It’s free downstairs in the lobby but if you want it in your room you have to pay. It wasn’t a hue deal, I’ve just never stayed at a hotel where I had to pay for it. But besides this it was extremely nice & I would definitely recommend & stay here again! :)

The hotel was great. Attentive staff and a really clean and big. I mean I did get it at an discounted price from «hotels​.com» but it was a completely worth more. I also parked there for free and caught the transit bus (which is soooo coincidently located smack dab on the side of the hotel and runs every 30 mins. Even on the holidays) that goes into the city right smack dab into Times Square. And saved on parking and even caught a show. It is worth every penny! I really recommend you try it.

I was scheduled here for training for work all the way from NC and I was told they were full and I couldn’t stay here. After about 5 calls in a few weeks time. And talking to the desk manager, Ellenor, I was told I would have to stay somewhere else. I was disappointed because everyone I work with would be staying here and I was having to stay in Saddlebrook and commuting back and forth all week… After day two, one of my co workers suggested that I talk to Victoria Pindrik, another desk manager. Boy, what a difference! Victoria met me at the desk with a BIG smile and just said, «let’s see if we can’t get you in here»… 5 minutes later I was on my way to Saddlebrook, new room key in hand to my Teaneck room. It wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for talking to Victoria! Thanks Victoria, you rock!

Let me start off by saying I got to stay here for free thank you to my good friends. From what I know, it can be a bit pricey to stay here.
However, it is a really nice hotel otherwise. The front desk is always very polite and friendly, greeting you as you walk past or in.
The rooms are clean and up to date, which are all you really require if you’re staying a night.
While staying here, you can easily go to the Glenpointe Gym & Spa, which has an indoor pool.
If you’re in the area and need a place to crash, this is a pretty good pick!

So, just like I stated in my previous review if we couldn’t get a room in the city this year we were going to stay at the Glenpointe Marriott for our annual trek to the city for the Christmas season. We were able to find a room in Brooklyn, but our party was larger this year and many of did not want to drive in the city. It worked out because we drove one car into Manhattan and we were able to leave the other cars at the hotel for free.
I wanted to stay in the city because it would have afforded us the opportunity to rest up a little and give us the chances to do a few more things, but I had no issue with staying at Glenpointe since I was pleased with my stay last year.
The rooms were spacious. I don’t know if it has anything to do with the fact that we always stay on the corner end, and get double beds, but man those rooms are spacious.
The place looks fantastic after the renovations.

I came to this Marriott for a 65^th birthday party, and please note that this is just a review of the Marriott catering and venue. The party was great by the way. Also note that I rate venues like this as if it were a wedding.
This event took place in the grand ballroom, and it was nice, but calling it grand is a stretch. I appreciate the ambiance of a place, and this place lacks it when compared to other places in the area. It has some beautiful chandeliers, but that is really the limit of the décor. Everything else is totally up to the party to bring.
The menu for this party was (1) a lobster bisque ravioli, (2) salad with mixed greens, heart of palm, avocado, and balsamic vinegar dressing get, (3) choice of salmon or filet mignon, (4) Limoncello and birthday cake. There was also an open bar.
The open bar was nice, but it’s hard to judge these at any event because you don’t know what package the party got. I assume this was a mid grade package, and it was always stocked. It was on a cheap cart though, which adds no value in the décor category. The bartenders were pretty good and served with a smile. I admittedly didn’t challenge them with anything complex though. The one bartender did make a pretty good Malibu bay breeze though, which should get me lucky later tonight.
The lobster bisque ravioli was banging, but proportioned for a sorority girl who was just called fat. The salad was not all that exciting. That’s my normal take on salads though. You have you go an extra mile to wow me with a salad.
Speaking of wowing, I got the salmon, which was anything but wowing. I should have guessed that when the waiter didn’t know if it was wild or farm raised. This is inexcusable for a Marriott. Especially when they didn’t even offer to find out; this has possible allergy ramifications, so I suggest that the staff be prepared better and trained to respond. The salmon was a sliver of meat that was obviously grilled. The skin was removed, and it wasn’t as good as most places. The salmon was also unseasoned and bland.
I also had the filet, which was good, but also unseasoned. I think that the chef was trained by Bloomsburg, and doesn’t know what salt is.
The staff didn’t ask how anyone wanted their fillet done. This was a misfortune to others, but benefit for me. My girlfriend is from South America, and I think it’s a cultural thing, because her family doesn’t like beef unless it’s cooked to the consistency of leather. She ate the outside brown parts, and I got the 90% that was remaining. It was a larger fillet.
I like beef medium rare, but this fillet was extremely rare. You could still hear moeing. If I end up with a tape worm, I know why. The staff should be trained better to ask, and the chef should prepare it to medium rare when in doubt.
The Limoncello was fantastic, I would highly recommend it. It’s a great way to clean the pallet before cake.
The service here was a little shocking. I’m sure that this was not a cheap party, and I would have been upset if I paid for and saw a woman in a plaid shirt standing by the bar during a 30 minute belly dancing show. The party was attended with suits and dresses; the plaid stood out like a Tiawana crack addict hooker at a funeral. I have no issue with staff being allowed to watch something like this, so long as they are properly dressed.
The server at our table may have had an off night, but he was rather cold and very unhappy the entire evening. He stood in the shadows most of the night, and I had to constantly ask for my water glass to be filled. At one point I just gave up. It may just be his personality, but I believe that service at a place like this should come with nothing but attention to detail and a smile.
In the end, this is an average place, but some things need major improvement.
