I ordered a Beer Box online from AIHB, good price, and was shipped quickly. When I received it I noticed it was missing one gasket, I contacted them about it, they had me check to make sure it it wasn’t miss placed in the box. It wasn’t, by the time I got back to them they had already contacted the manufacture, within a week I had not only the one gasket, but four more. There customer service is spot on. Will definitely do business with them again.

everyone has their own best brew store they use for some reason or another. give this one a try. My experience is great service, great advice and never an arrogant answer like some places where they talk to you like they are all master brewers and you are stupid. they respond to emails and their website promptly, and they have the best prices I have found. their ann arbor store is larger, but this location is closer for me and has everything I need so far and if not, they transfer it in within a day. every visit so far has been a great experience for me.

Knowledgeable, friendly, and they stock everything. You can’t get much better than AIH.

Your best home brewing supplies option in Metro Detroit. Not as large as the Ann Arbor location, but still a great selection. Staff are friendly & knowledgeable.

This store used to be my home brew store of choice because it was within driving distance of work. It is smaller than the store in AA but they carry a lot of great items! If you need assistance with anything brew related, this is the place to come.
They do have a rewards program so make sure you give them your name. You get $ 10 off for every $ 200 spent. It may seem like it will take awhile to get up there, but trust me, it doesnt take long.
They have a ton of tried and true recipes… and they have something for everyone! Give this place a try!

This place is great… they have everything you need for your home brewing fun, and the staff are knowledgeable and nice. The selection of equipment and ingredients is great. They also offer online-​ordering for when you’re not able to make it to the store.
They have a rewards system in place, too, where as you purchase more you get coupons for a few dollars off.

I started home brewing last year, and was pretty intimidated by the process. I had lots of questions. I decided to head to the shop to learn more about the craft, and these guys were great about walking me through every step, every piece of equipment necessary and even which kits were best for those just starting out. I’ve yet to run into a piece of equipment or ingredient they don’t carry, and their prices are very competitive with online shops or other home brew shops in the area. Let’s put it this way — I live in Royal Oak, and drive all the way to Taylor for most of my home brew supplies, even though there’s a home brew shop 10 minutes from my house in Warren.

I took their first home brewing class aimed at beginners and intermediate brewers with two of my buddies. The class was fun and informative. I picked up lot of the basics with ingredients and how they work together to make unique tastes and textures. While talking about certain topics like hops they have us beer samples which contain the hops they were talking about. I can definitely say that I know much more than when I walked in. I’m sure I’ll have many more questions as I begin brewing but they took care of everything I wanted.

Adventures in Homebrewing is a great homebrew store! The staff is excellent! Chris in particular has helped me a lot although others have too. They have all the equipment and materials to get you started and lots of ideas for more experienced brewers. I drive half an hour out of my way just to talk to these guys and gals.

I went here the other week on my first trip to the homebrew store. The staff was very helpful with my slightly unique needs. You see, I’m switching from using Mr. Beer kits to brewing with extracts, hops, and grain, but I haven’t upgraded my fermenter yet, so I’m still only brewing small batches. The staff was able to put the ingredient list into their computer program and change it to my batch size so that I have the correct amounts of ingredients.
They are very eager to help the novice homebrewer, and the exceptional customer service will definitely bring me back. These guys (actually it was a woman who initially helped me) definitely deserve their five stars.

I have been, up till now, the laziest homebrewer ever. Not too many complete brewfails, but definitely hit-​and-​miss. For example, the simple act of cleaning bottles has forced me to give up the hobby for years at a time.
One tiny little tidbit for why these people are SO GOOD: For 5+ years I have had a bottle cleaning jet nozzle and other similar tools picked up here and there. The only trouble is that my laundry tub sink faucet didn’t have the right adapter — the jet and other stuff needed a garden hose-​sized male connector. I have spent _*hours*_ in Lowes and Home Depot (yes, I am a little bit OCD) trying to figure out how to adapt my laundry tub to connect to these, until now, useless pieces of brass and plastic.
I remembered to mention this today, on the heels of picking up some easy (i.e. lazy) extract recipe ingredients. Carrie (thanks, Carrie!) says, «Oh yeah, we have one of those.» A couple of bucks later, problem solved.
These folks have inspired me to up my game (at least a little bit). Who knows, maybe me and my brew crew are the next Founders, Bells, or Shorts.

This was my first trip to a brewing store. It was MIND boggling! The staff was so helpful and very patient with my millions of questions.
They had a giant book of store made brew packages. You can even order them online.
There were tons of books on winemaking, beer making, and even canning or curing.
I left with a package to make root beer, a case of wine bottles, and a few other cool items.

Homebrewing isn’t the first hobby I’ve picked up for the hell of it… drums, painting, vinyl collecting. So more than a few times I’ve visited stores where I’ve felt less than welcome, being the newbie who doesn’t know anything. The elitist attitudes; the condescending short answers to questions; the general disinterest in you (and seemingly even your money). So given the trend, I *thought* I knew what I was in for… which is why I was surprised to find that AIH is NOT that kind of store at all!
The first time I went in, I was quickly greeted and asked how I could be helped. I explained that I was thinking of getting into homebrewing, and that I wanted to check out the place and get an idea of what I’m getting myself into. First things first, he gave me a crash course in homebrewing: step-​by-​step overview of the process, with some valuable insights, and explanations of the various equipment used. He easily spent twenty or thirty minutes going through some of the details and answering my questions, and I didn’t once see him check his watch or inch his way toward the register to avoid me. It seemed like he was genuinely interested in helping!
The part that totally sold me was his sales approach… Ok so this guy has invested a half hour of his time to educate me in the basics, you’d think the next step is the whirlwind wham-​bam kit and bundle and upgrade and sell sell sell. Nope, he asked if I had any other questions, then suggested I go home and do some light reading on the topic before spending anything. I did precisely that, and was back in the store a couple days later to pick up one of their affordable and terribly convenient starter kits.
Service is undoubtedly the strongest point of this store, but affordability is high on the list. I’ve done some looking elsewhere on the web, and haven’t been able to find anything significantly cheaper (especially after you factor shipping).

I feel totally spoiled to have Adventures as my local homebrew shop. Adventures has a fantastic selection of brewing gear and ingredients. Jason and his staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Prices are totally fair and the selection of brewing gear and ingredients is vast. Adventures carries wine making equipment too. I would recommend AIH to any current or aspiring homebrewer or winemaker without reservation.

I visited the Ann Arbor store. Tyler and a couple other staff members (sorry, I didn’t get their names) went above and beyond — they even loaded my purchase into the truck and made sure it was tied in securely for my drive home.

They have EVERYTHING you would need to make beer, wine and other adult beverages. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and there’s usually at least one sample brew on tap at no charge. Seriously, what more could you ask for? Can’t wait for them to open their Ann Arbor location!

Can’t say enough good things about this place. The selection of grains, syrups, dried malt extract, and various adjuncts is remarkable. The staff, very knowledgeable about craft brewing and wine making. They are also very approachable and will answer your questions without making you feel like a n00b.

in my own adventures in homebrewing i came across this lovely little hamlet.
i am not a beer master yet. somewhere between novice and intermediate i would place myself. self made recipes still frighten me.
i was a little afraid during my first visit. the stock seemed to be so disorganized to me. i was frightened by the back room that had bulk grains and malt. basically i was afraid of the knowledge that everyone seemed to posses except me.
this place is set up for serious brewers.
the employees eased my fright. each was willing and able to help me in my quest to make good beer. i felt like i was purchasing quality ingredients. i tried my first top tier yeast.
overall, i was happy with the experience and it made me want to try harder at my favorite hobby. thank you adventures in homebrewing for pushing me past my comfort zone.

I ended up finding loads of concord grapes on our property and decided to make wine out of them. I happened to stumble upon Adventures in Home Brewing right here on Unilocal and thought to myself, how convenient it is that I should find this place at the same time as the grapes. It seemed meant to be so I went in there today. These guys are so knowledgeable and helpful. They helped me find everything I needed to get started on the cheap and I walked out after paying around $ 20 for everything I needed. I could spend some serious time in here checking out all the gadgets. I’ll be going back to buy my bottles and corks when I need them. These guys are great.

I drive past a couple other homebrewing shops to get to Adventures.
The staff there is top notch. They are friendly and knowledgeable, and will answer any question you have. Having someone talk me through the brewing process was invaluable when I was getting started.
Adventures seems to have pretty high turnover, which is important because fresh ingredients makes better beer. They also have practically everything you could possibly want or need. It’s fun to go just to look at all the brewing gadgets.
