Tom & Jimmy’s at The Star Drive-In

I went there on a Saturday afternoon before the wrestling match. I ordered the 2 hotdog plate. 25 min later I had to ask where it was! 2 hotdogs 25 minutes! Staff was obviously too busy texting and forgot about me. oh by the way I was the only one in there when I ordered. After the wrestling we went to Amaros for ice cream instead.

Great diner food served fast and with a smile. Have lobster roll when in season. Sundaes are gigantic.

Awesome food and ice cream! Super friendly staff, the delivery people are usually pretty quick and polite. You get a lot of food for what you pay for too! They have great classic car and motorcycle shows too — fun to get out of the house to go check them out and grab some ice cream. Highly recommend this place!

This review is in regards the service I received and not the food or ice cream.
I’m giving this location a 1 star because of the bad service I received tonight. A friend and I went in just for ice cream and were turned away. Yes it was a little past closing time but when we walked in we asked if they were closed and she said yes for food. I said ok because we are here for sundaes she looked behind the counter at the others and then then said sorry register is closed. If that was the case then she should have said upon us entering. She didn’t even give me a chance to tell her I had a gift certificate in which no $$ would have needed to be exchanged.
I always come here and the Taunton location because they carry Giffiord brand ice cream and they do make excellent sundaes. However, I probably won’t be returning to the star drive-​in location anytime soon.

I have been going to The Star Drive In for years. Since the new owners came in the food has gotten 10 times better than ever. Been getting the fish and chips over the last few weekends and I am really impressed. The small amount of breading for flavor and the fish itself was falling apart :)… There burgers are top notch as well and glad they kept the flavored soft serve. You can make almost any flavor you can think off…

I was a big fan for awhile, but the last couple of times I’ve ordered I have been disappointed. The pizza has been lackluster, ordered a steak and cheese sub and was given steak-ums…not kidding. Some of the young kids that work here make you feel unwelcome like your a bother.

My husband and I LOOOOOVE this place! We’ve been quite a few times and I have to admit two things: we’ve never had anything from their ice cream menu and we tend to always order the same thing every time we go. That said…
We are huge fans of their ¹⁄₃ lb hand-​pressed burger. They always cook it perfectly, the bun is delicious, and they have great toppings. I usually go with the classic: cheese, lettuce, tomatoe, pickles and ketchup. My husband usually gets cheese, mushrooms, onions, and jalapeños. The fries are really really good. I don’t know why, but they are so yummy. We usually also order a side of clam cakes which we devour! If we get our meals to go (we live about 10 mins away), we can’t help but eat some of the clam cakes on the ride home!
Two things to note: the food is prepared and cooked when you order it so sometimes it takes a little longer than you expect. Never super long, but this is not McD’s — don’t expect fast food. Also, they are super accommodating. I always ask for extra tartar sauce and they never charge me. They just include it with a smile. Also, one time my husband was eyeing their pizza slices and commented to me that they looked good and he wanted to try it some time. They heard him, and when our food was ready they included a complimentary slice of pizza! A happy suprise for my husband!

The 1/​3lb hand pressed burger with bacon and cheese was pretty good. The burger tasted fresh and the bun was grilled. My wife liked the cheese burger club. My son said the pepperoni pizza was just o.k. The fries tasted fresh instead of frozen. We wanted to eat inside but they don’t turn the heat up so we ate in the car. Overall it was pretty good for a drive up place. I’ll probably wait until summer to go back so we don’t have to eat in the car and we can try the ice cream. The ice cream menu looked pretty extensive.

Had a groupon for this place so obviously had to try it out. Got pizza and calzones and both were average. They had a huge selection of ice cream that I am going to go back and use my other groupon for.

Whats not to love about this place? Its awesome, super nostalgic and plenty of outdoor seating. This is one of my favorite go to spots! especially since I can bring the dog to sit outside with us. Awesome family fun place.
Food is always hot and fresh, I would put it maybe in the greasy spoon category.
I have been 6+ times, every single staff member is soooooo nice its. Its a breath of fresh air. Love it! cant say enough good things about it

Abner and I love it here because there are so many flavors of soft serve ice cream. Lots of ice cream, even with a small size.

Always packed! Great updated addition to the area. Serving pizza, salads and more! Also has a ton of ice cream flavors and soft serve. Fun place for a summer evening. Outside seating. Their Greek salad is really good. Good family place to enjoy summer night with some treats!

Best burger around. And the sundaes are a good value– got the t hoye sundae and easily shared it between 3 of us.

Portion were huge and the food quality was excellent! Salads were enough for two and the chicken nuggets were actually chicken strips, excellent quality. Burger was massive. Ice cream portions were silly big! Totally worth the trip!

Do not get the chicken broccoli Alfredo pizza, absolutely disgusting. Cheese tastes terrible and chicken was half cooked. Ice cream is good but that pizza sucked. Won’t be getting pizza here anymore, I’ll stick to the ice cream.
