History

Established in 2008.

The BaHa Brothers have played in Key West for many years, frequenting the Duval Street venues that have made it a national landmark! Over and over, the guys would say, «If we had a place up North, we’d do it like this!» BaHa Brothers road manager, Joe O’Connell agreed, and signed on as a partner to help create «The Vision!»

The vision became a reality. The Sandbar Grill is the Northeast’s premier restaurant and pub, born of everything that is Key West!

For some reason, I have a love/​hate relationship with the Sandbar. I guess I can’t bring myself to fully embrace it due to its townie bar ways. I do find the atmosphere with all the flags and island flair fun. The food isn’t too bad, but nothing to write home about. The entertainment has gotten better thru the years, but ultimately comes down to whoever they book. The Freeze Pops are always a good time. There’s a small dance floor and a function room area for separate parties. Waitstaff is typically pretty good, but sometimes we have a lady or 2 who takes forever to check on us and the drinks get drier than they should. The seperate outdoor smoking spot is beneficial, as it alleviates crowding & smokiness at the entrance when you’re coming in. The parking lot situation is a whole other story, good luck with that.

The clam chowder was great and I rarely say that. Really good mix of clam, cream, potatoes, etc. Too often clam chowder isn’t well balanced — too much of this, not enough of that, watery or too thick, but this was excellent, and a decent sized bowl for $ 4.50. Stopped in around 4 pm on a Monday. The Cuban sandwich was pretty good, was made with very good ingredients didn’t quite capture the ethnicity of what you get if you bought it in Jamaica Spain (Plain). The fries were decent, had some skin on them, but not extraordinary. Very complete menu, I’d definitely go back and get the clam chowder in something other than a sandwich. I’d like to try their prime rib or some of their other steak specialties.

The house band, THE FREEZE POPS, were great! We danced and ranked on a few songs that they played. It was a good time! I noticed right away that our waiter wasn’t writing our orders down… this seems to be the «new» thing at restaurants and its just plain old STUPID!!! THE GUY KEPT MESSING EVERYTHING UP… eventually we got the meals for free because we had to send back so many times (A pulled pork sandwich… WITH NO PULLED PORK??? come on guys!!!). Anyway, maybe this place is a «front» like Gus’s laundrat on BREAKING BAD… we will go back just for the free comedy show!!! Hahaha

Great place to listen to a band on the weekends. Food is good… If you can get service. We generally eat somewhere else first then go there for drinks and music. Don’t bother waiting for table service for drinks, you are better off going up to the bar. They need more waitstaff… If the service was better we would eat there more often as the food is good.

Good bar food. Good DJ too! Came here for a party and enjoyed the whole night. They had the DJ playing first, spinning old and new school music. And, later that night, in comes the band to rock the night away. Granted, the crowd is a bit older, but it was still a fun time.

This place is absolutely horrible. I am sitting here not able to talk to anyone at my table due to the low quality and obnoxiously loud karaōke music on a Sunday. We just got half price pizzas, sauce out of a can, cheese out of a bag, and pizza shells that were previously frozen. Our pizzas were burnt and the «special» buffalo chicken nachos came out cold and with barely any cheese. The most astonishing thing was the bar tender couldn’t even pour a Guinness correctly so it was flat and disgusting. I’d highly recommend never coming here due to the horrible service (we waited 15min for our drinks with only 40 people here and 4 waitresses on duty), low quality food, and horrible DJ.

Used to be a really sketchy dive bar. Scary even. Baha Brothers created something much better.
Very very very mixed crowd. What you get completely depends on the night you go. Food is OK for bar food. I would stick with things like pizza/​sandwiches over anything more complicated like beef.
Staff is good as well. Bartenders can be a little slow because of chatting with regulars. I have noticed people being over served, and not exactly shown the door. I think the bartenders need to grow a back bone when it comes to crowd control. Floor servers are usually pretty good.
Con: Sunday evenings, especially during the Winter, are geared exclusively for the crowds 65+. The singers are what could best be described as «Do Wop.» Painful for younger patrons, but fun for the older crowd.

My boss found this place for us for lunch before the wedding we were attending.
From the outside, Baha Brothers looked closed but after further inspection, they were open for lunch on the weekend (11am I think). It’s always funny to see people starting their day right with a few drinks right at 11am. We were going in for lunch while 3 – 4 other patrons were already seated in the big bar area were already getting their beer on!
The service was pretty good. There was only 1 gal (with all the tats) who was waiting on the tables and also the bar so it was a bit slow. She was really cool though (all the Bostonians I met were nice). The food was also a bit slow but then again it was still kind of early. My boss’ club sandwich was stacked and looked really good, I tried her fries which were yummy. If I remember, I had their Baha burger with cheese and also pineapple. It was good too, juicy and delish. The clam chowder was ok. It wasn’t hot enough.
I’m sure this place gets pretty rockin’ on the weekends for dinner and drinks. It’s big inside, looks like a big sports bar hidden in the back of the building off the main street. Very hard to find if you’re not a local.

I took my 5 year old son here for lunch on Sunday, just me and him. We had a great time hanging out. It is a fun atmosphere with plenty of tv’s and live entertainment. It is a Margaritaville style place. The owner of the place came over and chatted with us for a while. A very friendly place and the food was very good too. We had a pepperoni pizza and a bacon cheeseburger. Great time. I would highly recommend checking it out someday. I will be back for sure!!!

East Rochester, NY
When you find this place (after a difficult search down a side alley) you instantly feel like you’ve been transplanted to Jimmy Buffet’s playhouse. It literally looks like a parrothead threw up inside this place but it just adds character.
The menu is pretty extensive and the conch fritters are delicious. I would do terrible things to a plate full of them if it were legal in public. Their seafood dishes are actually really fresh which was a bit unexpected. The lobster roll and clam strip plate were both really tasty and real lobster inside the lobster roll was another surprise that I was delighted to experience.
If you can get past the ridiculous décor and cramped off the beaten path location and parking lot this place is really a hidden gem for performances and atmosphere. I would give this place 4 stars but knocked one off for an obnoxious sound check almost 3 hours before the band was supposed to go on. So annoying when you are trying to catch up with family. Oy!

I made the long trek out here from the city last night for a good friend’s birthday. If it weren’t for the long trek, I’d go back ALL the time. This place was so much fun. The wait staff was really friendly and very fast which I definitely appreciate, and the prices were very reasonable. I forgot that bar food can be a lot better out in the suburbs. Always a plus.
The Freeze Pops were playing last night and it was great. There is a lot of room for dancing though it felt like it was a bazillion degrees in there at times. The décor is really fun, beach themed. It was a really great atmosphere overall, just everyone having a good time. I met a ton of new people, there were three or four other birthdays that same night and everyone was handing out beads as if it were Mardi Gras or something.
The only downsides were that parking was a little tough, the GPS tried to get us to drive through a building to get there, and it was just a little bit crowded.

Get there early if you want to find parking!
Some friends and I went to see Freezepops not too long ago and had a blast. The atmosphere is fun and beachy. The crowd is mixed ages so it’s a comfortable crowd for people of all ages. There’s a small dance floor if you want to dance and also tables in the back if you want to be out of the fun in the middle. The food was decent but service was a bit slow. Our waitress was friendly but was stretched thin with all the drink and food orders for the tables in our area. I think they need more waitstaff for the crowds on weekends.
