Established in 1981.

Established by Max Himmelstein, Valley Baseball Cards is a treasured memory of collectors everywhere.

Valley Baseball Cards is now ‘Valley Sports Cards, Memorabilia & Picture Framing’.

Why did the name of the store change? Baseball was always the ‘King of the Industry’ during the vintage years of card collecting but in recent years basketball, hockey & football have become equally prevalent. Although we strive to maintain the feeling of the old store people often misunderstood the name and thought that the shop did indeed sell ‘just baseball cards’.

Business Owner

Alex grew up in the San Fernando Valley and shopped here when he was a child himself. Back then Alex loved cards but he never dreamed that someday he would get a chance to own the baseball card shop that he knew so well.

In 2006 Alex was hired as the Manager of Valley Baseball Cards & spent months completely organizing the inventory. In 2007 Alex was offered the chance to purchase the store & has worked hard to make the store a success & at the same time keep the nostalgia that Valley Baseball Cards is known for. Each year Alex remodels and improves the store, doing much of the work himself. He has added a state of the art framing area and a 490 card Bid Board among other additions. To him, preserving and improving Valley Baseball Cards is a labor of love.

After spending 25 + years as a professional artist, elementary school teacher & professional framer, Alex Mortimer has finally found the perfect blend of the work he loves and the hobby he always enjoyed.

One Liner: Best place in the valley to buy sports cards boxes with an above average Bid Board.
If you’re a collector of sports cards there’s nothing like going into a shop and buying product to open. Each time I come here I am always warmly welcomed and they always have some new stuff whether they are single packs or boxes. Most shops charge more than they do and being a Facebook Liker nets you an extra discount.
What sets this shop above the rest is that the owners are very informative with redemptions and what to do if you have any questions regarding collecting. I always am able to find the right supplies with their help.
Definitely a destination spot for sports cards and memorabilia collectors in the SF Valley. A+ All The Way!

Awesome store. I just purchased a la’veon bell jersey from this store. The owners name is Alex and he was friendly as can be. They have a great selection of a ton of different sports cards and autographs. There was a lady that worked there as well and she was just as nice. My boss dropped off a jersey to have framed for a client. Alex agreed to meet me an hour before he opened so I could deliver it to our client on time. These are the exact words from my client’s mouth upon seeing the jersey «Wow, this looks fantastic!» Thank you for making him so happy. Alex explained they use a special conservation glass to prevent the autographs from fading and to be sure and use only a soft rag to clean it.
Framing starts at $ 195 for jerseys and he has a slew of frames to choose from.
You can also buy, sell and trade items here. He is closed Mondays. There is a larger parking lot towards the back as well as a few shared spots in front.

Very friendly and helpful people.
Went in to see if they sold regular baseballs so I could collect some autographs. They didn’t but they were very sociable which I really liked. They got those perfect signature sleeves and I’ve been told the authentication people come around here every month so that could save you money on shipping. They have a ton of baseball and other sports memoribla so its nice to come and check out.

I am always looking for autographed Yankee Memorabilia and every time I am in the store Alex always lets me know what he just got in. And he always gives me a great deal. I used to go to another sports store, but they continually over charged me. Alex and his wife are nice, respectful, and very helpful. I wouldn’t go anywhere else and neither should you.

Had Alex frame 2 pictures I got from an online site. Brought them in, picked out the frame colors and picked up the done work 10 days later. What I loved was the selection of frames to choose from ranging from modern to contemporary. The shop is super cool and also has sports cards and a bid board. This is by far the most diverse sports and memorabilia store in Los Angeles. Where else can you buy a signed jersey or picture and get it framed for a great cost at the same location. The diversity of a bid board, packs, loose cards and memorabilia is amazing. Alex is also super friendly and willing to make deals. This is like going into the 1980’s and getting to shop for cards. You have to go here!

My brothers girlfriend pulled some strings and got us signed Clay Matthews Jerseys. She had my brothers framed by Alex and it came out really well. I brought another 2 Jerseys and my Green Bay Stock cert to get the same framing and not only do they look fantastic but it was also the cheapest I could find (even with 40−50% coupons at other places). I told him I didn’t need them in a rush so it actually took a few days extra but I’d rather him not rush and make them look as good as they do!

I had never really been to a memorabilia shop before, but when I found myself with an autographed 1948 Dodgers baseball that needed authentication, I did some research on the area.
This place had good reviews on Unilocal and I’m glad I decided to take the ball to them.
Alex was really helpful and knowledgeable. He let me know how to take care of the ball and hooked me up with a UV case for it.
