History

Established in 2000.

The Reclaimer — Los Angeles: Our mission is to divert, find higher and better uses and develop local markets for the 200,000 tons of wood entering the waste stream, in Los Angeles, each year. High grade old growth wood, easily reusable, in it’s original form, is chipped to be burned as biomass or used as a soil amendments. Chipping unnecessarily releases, more than, 300,000 tons of carbon, into the atmosphere, yearly. The Reclaimer’s conservation efforts began by locally recovering high grade old growth Douglas fir and redwood, though deconstruction. We have steadily refined our methods of recovery and expanded inventory of reclaimed hardwoods and softwoods. We now offer our customers a huge selection of reclaimed wood products. Our collection of reclaimed wood products now includes, wood products salvaged from urban trees or trees recovered after forest fires. We proudly offer you a complete line of 100% recycled, reclaimed wood products, recovered and reused locally.

The Reclaimer is working to remove wood from the waste stream. A half billion board feet or 200,000 tons of wood enter the waste stream in Los Angeles each year. This releases 300,000 tons of carbon into the atmosphere. We are continually looking for higher and better uses for these woods.
