Tarzana Wine & Spirits

I went here to pick up a birthday gift. This place is really well stocked, their Scotch section is second to none. However, I was looking for tequila and I was pleasantly surprised by their prices and the variety available. Also, the staff is great too. Whether it is a gift or personal consumption check these guys out, their prices and selection are excellent.
And finally, any place that has an autographed photo of Ted Lange (he was Isaac on the Love Boat) on the wall is firme in my book.

I live in Mid-​City, near Pico and Fairfax, so I usually shop for wine and liquor at K & L or online. But I had to make a trip to Tarzana when I saw on Wine Searcher that they had Yamasaki 12 year. So off we went, and found Lazaro and Simon, who were both super attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. I’ve been to nearly every fine liquor store from Mission to HiTime, and the customer service here is far beyond any I’ve ever experienced. The store has everything from your $ 9.99 bottle to Screaming Eagle, and while not every bottle they have is priced as well as other places in town, they do have some screaming great deals. Get to know them and they’ll let you know when very special bottles come in. It feels like a neighborhood place! If only it wasn’t so far from me. Thanks, Lazaro and Simon!

I just left this store after a rather embarassing experience. I was looking for a bottle of brandy as a gift, and was excited to find it at this store. I even called the store to check if it was in stock. I spoke with Simon, and he verified that he had one left and will save a bottle for me behind the counter. I asked him the price, and he said it would be $ 34.99 (mind you, website also says $ 34.99). When I got there to pick up the bottle, it was charged as $ 39.99. Their attitude of «get over it, it’s always been $ 39.99. Give her money back if she doesn’t want it» was very off putting instead of just honoring the price they said over the phone and what the website says. I know it’s «only $ 5» but if you think about it, if you buy 10 bottles that’s an extra $ 50 you’re paying instead of what’s on the website. Since I’ve already went out of my way to pick up the bottle there, I had no choice but to suck it up. If I knew ahead of time, I could have gone somewhere else. And since the advertised price was different from when I got there, that’s borderline bait-​and-​switch and illegal.

Went in this morning to buy a mega lotto ticket. I was in the area, so I thought what a buck can do! Two men greeted me, and asked how they could help. I told him just a lotto ticket please. He rang me up, and I was on my way. Store looked decent, although I didn’t price out their booze. I would come back, since customer service is nice, and I like to support my local businesses. Parking lot is small, and can be cramped.

Nice wine selection here however just understand that if a price tag is too good to be true, it probably is. I noticed that some of the lower-​priced wine ($ 8 – 10) I purchased was far too turned and past its prime. but that of course was my own risk and also the game of buying and selecting wine. There’s a nice collection of old world wine as well a whole aisle dedicated to wine from Chile and Argentina as well as your more mainstream labels. I didn’t see as much local wine (Paso, Santa Ynez, etc) as I’d like but nevertheless, there’s certainly something for everyone.
I also have to comment that the service was great; I was offered assistance in choosing twice (should have taken it) and provided a nice little six-​bottle wine bag to carry out my wine for free. I’ll be back here again for sure!

Great selection. Stopped by here on my way to a dinner party and needed a last minute gift. Found a great bottle of high end tequila as well as a great bottle of Malbec. Also bought a great box (yes, box) of wine after having tasted boxed wine in Barcelona that was wonderful on taste and quality and stayed fresh for over two weeks!
The gifts were both a hit with my host! The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and one nice guy helped me carry my stuff out to my car.
Don’t come around Tarzana often but if I’m ever in the neighborhood again I’ll be sure to stop by.

Way way WAY overpriced! These guys have the worst prices in town, and they do not budge an inch! I cannot believe they even try to charge the prices that they charge, especially when you take into account that you can go so many other places nearby and save so much money! Their selection is ok, but they are not very well informed as to what they carry nor how to speak on it. I will definitely never ever go back here. Costco and Trader Joes and BevMo all have the exact same selection, and in most cases, much better selection, and they charge far less! I can’t believe you people are still in business.

Great selection for any Price range. Knowledgeable and nice staff. Keep an eye out for special Red tag sales. I once bought a $ 75 bottle of Japanese whiskey for $ 60. I notice a lot of regular wine enthusiasts walk in and out with dozens of bottles. That must mean something.

Great liquor store with an excellent wine selection. The staff were very friendly and know what they are talking about if you ask them a question. So much better than going to a chain store for sure. I’ll be a-​buyin my booze from them again!

Hands down the best Wine & Liquor store in LA. The wine selection is superb, and expansive. Sometimes i ask for off the wall wines and spirits and Simon has never failed me, it may take some time to acquire but he eventually locates it!

Asked for help twice and was ignored. The help staff was more interested in socializing with each other and another customer.

This place is great. Not many places allow you to sample quality cognac and vodka but I was offered without asking. Very knowledgeable staff, friendly, warm, and welcoming. Prices are very friendly.

This is a great spot!!! Wonderful selection. I came in expecting nothing and WOW! A great selection and the owner is just a great guy. I was shopping for a weeding gift and he pointed me to exactly what I wanted. The champagne was right on price wise and when i presented it, it was the big splash I wanted. Kudos to Tarzana Wine and Spirits.
he also has a wonderful selection of wines and beer. If I lived closer, I would be a true regular.

Definitely one of the better liquor stores in the area. Great selection and the owner is very helpful. This is one of the few stores you can find exotic liquors like Sri Lankan coconut arrack, VSOA

Its ok. There’s so many other wine locations I would rather go to.
I love the woodland hills wine shop and Tarzana W&S seems more like a bevmo compared to them and of course there’s the westside Wine House which is great.
The owner and staff at this store is nothing like the other stores I go to, so I don’t necessarily see the need to come back here. Its really just like a large liquor store with fancy wines, spirits and cigars. But if you just need a quick stop shop, it’s convenient and they have a large selection of booze.

I called them to find out if they had a wine I recently tried with a friend… when I asked for the UPC code to have for future reference, the lady gave me a huge sigh, then gave me the last 3 digits and said «was that all?» I said «no, can I have ALL the UPC numbers?» She then went through the numbers so fast and her voice changed again and she became somewhat enraged. I said thank you and she hung up. She didn’t ask me if there was anything else she could help me with nor did she ask me if there was another selection I was interested in.
Sorry, I shop there for a lot of various wine and spirits, that is just plain rude of the sales/​phone staff. I didn’t realize asking for information regardless of my intent to buy there or not, was inappropriate.
I don’t think I’ll be going there anymore for anything. The owner can thank that irritated beeyotch who answered the phone.

The selection of scotch and wines at Tarzana wine and spirits is second to none. Very clean and nicely set up store. Prices are some of the best in the area. The cigar selection is def a plus. The staff here seem to know what they are talking about.

An excellent inventory of wines at great prices, as well as a nice selection of cigars in their walk-​in humidor.
Bought some bottles of Italian wine (Luigi Righetti Capitel De’ Roari Amarone 2005) for $ 30/​bottle that go for $ 44/​bottle at Monsieur Marcels.
One of the individuals that runs the place, Simon, was very helpful and courteous as well. It’s a bit out of the way for me, but it’s worth the drive.
