Tarzana Inn

I had a really disappointing stay. Our hot water knob was broken and the staff was slow to repair it. We were given the key to another room to avoid moving rooms (traveling with a baby makes that task hard). Wall paper was peeling off and in one spot stapled to the wall. The towels had holes in them. When our shower was fixed it still leaked hot water so I couldn’t have my daughter in the bathtub. They said they tried to call to talk to me about the repair but did not leave a message so I had no idea I needed to call them. they originally offered $ 20 off for one night because of the inconvenience — only after I asked — and eventually gave it to us for all three nights. Perhaps the most disappointing thing was the night staffs inability to help or address concerns. When I checked out they recommended I not stay with them again. I was somewhat surprised and felt that asking for a functioning now dripping shower and bath was a basic understanding of what we paid for in renting the room. A staff that’s willing to tell a guest to not come back because they wanted their shower to work seems to be a staff that does not want to work in the hotel industry. Repair issues happen and the best way to deal with them is to be an accommodating staff and ask the guest what they need. I was clearly the burden to them and they clearly were looking for the cheapest solutions to all problems rather than finding long term fixes. If a zero staff review was possible I would give it.

The manager Victor terrorized my good friend who is old & disabled. I got sick off the free breakfast and my email got hacked while on their wireless signal. I tried Tokyo Princess down the street and they are far worse. Don’t go to either if your life depended in it. Crappy run down places with scrappy run down people.

If this place can give a 0 star I would. I came with my in laws and try to get a room. He reserved the room before getting to Cali. No one mentioned there was a deposit when we called and for those rooms it was way too expensive. When he got there the guy slide he’s card with out even letting him know he needed a deposit. He told him he was getting charge 300 dollars total for one bed. That is crazy amount of money for that area. And when we told him that we changed our mind he told us we were getting charge 150 for canceling. THIS IS A Total FRAUD!!! DO NOT COME HERe. A cheap motel would be be better than this place.

Onpy hotel option in Tarzana is quaint, modern and cost effective. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants

My landlord had scheduled major service to my apartment to commence on Monday, May 2^nd, and they needed me to vacate for four days. They graciously made me a reservation to stay at the Tarzana Inn on Ventura Boulevard in Tarzana, CA and agreed to pay all expenses. I was to stay from Sunday, May 1^st through Thursday, May 5^th. Since they were going to be replacing an entire wall I knew there would be a lot of dust, so I took most of my personal electronics and some other treasured items with me for the «vacate”-tion. I had a lot of luggage and it’s difficult for me to lift things because I have repetitive stress injuries. On Sunday evening, I had a neighbor pack my things in my car and I headed to the Tarzana Inn.
I arrived at approximately 9:45 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2016, to check in As the clerk was checking me in I asked him if here could assist me with getting my belongings to the room, trying to explain to him that I had repetitive stress injuries. He said no, that he has injuries too, as he pointed to a small bruise on his right forearm. I asked if there was anyone else around, a maintenance man or something. He said no, and that I should have arrived early in the afternoon to check in. I started to say something else, but he interrupted me saying that he didn’t want to hear about it. Every time I tried to say something he interrupted me and at one point was screaming at me that he didn’t care. I asked him where the room was located he pointed in the general direction of my right and wouldn’t be more specific. He gave me my card key for the room and I asked if there were any luggage carts. He rudely said no.
I took a deep breath, sat down in one of the chairs in the lobby, and called my ex-​husband (who lives nearby) to ask him if he could come over and help me with my belongings. Even though he had just gone to bed, he agreed to get dressed and drive over to help.
I went back to the front desk and informed the attendant that my ex-​husband was coming to help me unload my belongings. He immediately flipped out on me and yelled at me and said he didn’t like the way I was talking to him and that he was canceling my reservation. He took a new key card, did some kind of code to it, then went out of the lobby (I assume to the room I was assigned) and then returned. I was shocked. I couldn’t believe that he was canceling my reservation. Hoping that the threat of being reported to his manager would make him behave better, I held my phone as if I was recording him and I kept asking him if he was going to honor my reservation and he kept screaming at me to get out. I told them I was not going to get out until my ex-​husband got there. He told me he was going to call the police. I told him that I would love for him to call the police because he’s refusing service for no reason and I have a prepaid reservation. Finally, he went into the management office and closed the door and would not come out even when new customers came to check in were banging on the door. So I started calling other hotels to see if I could get a reservation.
When my ex-​husband arrived I told him the situation. About five minutes later, the desk attendant came out of the office to assist other customers who arrived. With my ex-​husband now in attendance, the attendant said he would honor the reservation (gender discrimination?) but at this point, I didn’t feel safe staying there. My ex-​husband and I got into an argument as we were leaving and in my haste to leave (and because I couldn’t see behind me with all the belongings in my car, I didn’t see a black SUV and backed into it, barely scratching the paint on her car, but crunching my bumper pretty good. My ex-​husband became extremely upset, literally jumping up and down and yelling at me about our insurance rates going up, and telling me I had to «slow down.» I reminded him that I was not the one yelling. My ex-​husband and I spoke with the driver of the SUV and she agreed that the damage was cosmetic and didn’t ask for my information. Before I left, in order to make sure I had the right person I took pictures of three people that were around the front desk so I would be sure to be able to identify the man who had bullied me. One was the clerk who had been so bullying and rude, and at the time, I didn’t know who the other two people were.
I called the next morning to speak with the manager, Vincent Patel and told him what happened. After I told him, he explained that he had arrived as my ex-​husband and I were arguing and, from what he saw, that he thinks I was the belligerent one. I disagreed, citing the fact that actually my ex-​husband was the one who was upset, I was calm. He said that he had camera footage of the incident and the car accident and made noise that he was going to report me for a hit-​and-​run, even though the owner of the SUV didn’t want to exchange information.
I don’t know if I was treated this way because I’m a woman or what, but WTF?!?

Newly remodeled, clean, comfortable, modern rooms, comfortable beds, quite enough. Friendly staff. A pleasant surprise and a great value. Stayed 3 nights for business/​pleasure. No complaints.

Had to be in Reseda for the weekend and this place was fit the budget. I like that it was close to a lot of restaurants and grocery stores. Yes, it’s an older hotel but the room I stayed in was clean. Free continental breakfast too.

This hotel was very disappointing. Location, location, location. The location is way too busy/​loud. It is located on Ventura Blvd. so you not only get that noise, but you also get the 101 freeway noise and it’s situation right next to a 24-​hour gas station. The hotel staff is nice when you’re checking in, but when my car is involved in an accident trying to cross of Ventura Blvd. they denied us pulling our car into their spots because they are approaching the busy hour.
The grounds is maintained okay, the rooms surround an in-​ground pool. The hotel is two-​story and if you book on-​line and get the $ 99 dollar rate, you’ll find yourself facing the Blvd., the 101 AND the gas station. The noise is so loud that the fan in the room doesn’t drown it out. The room isn’t maintained well. You could see the wallpaper seams pulling apart, as well as the drywall tape/​cracks in ceiling were apparent. As far as a good night sleep, the pillows were the Walmart special at 4.99, like sleeping on a rock. The bed was hard and
noisy.
The «bathroom» was a small room with a toilet and shower. The shower door would hit the toilet and didn’t close all the way. You’re allowed ONE bar of soap to interchange between the make-​up/​sink area and shower. I actually put my sandpaper towels on the ground because i didn’t want my bare-​feet to touch the carpet. Yes the towels were horrible. We thought at least the saving grace was the free breakfast. NOPE! Fruit was bruised/​not ripe enough. They offered bland cereal and stale danish. The coffee was good, but we ended up eating somewhere else. The «dining» room featured 3 tables which were all full when we arrived.
The furniture was scratched, the TV had a 32″ screen but only utilized 19″ of the screen, therefore you couldn’t even see the characters. Our view was of the gas station and we enjoyed the sounds of cars filling up with gas as we tried to sleep.
If you just want to crash and quickly get out of there it is perfect! If you want to enjoy your stay then stay somewhere else.

Good Value. A basic, clean room in an upscale part of the Valley. The front desk was very friendly. Free parking very near the rooms. The carpets needed cleaning but their other rooms have larminates or hardwood. Maybe they will eventually change out the carpets in all the rooms. Older non franchise place. Nice crystal clear pool that people seemed to be enjoying. new flat screen tvs with cable. WiFi was a bit slow. Fast enough to check email.
No complaints for the money paid.

Personnel tres sympas, wifi et parking et frigo. Hotel tres simple, grande chambre, le petit dejeuner est tres simple aussi sauf que le choix y est limité (allez y tot car beaucoup de monde des l’ouverture, la salle du petit dejeuner tres petite car la plupart des personnes se servent et le prenne dans la chambre). Mefier vous de la clim qui en marche dégagé beaucoup de poussiere.

Infested with bedbugs!!!
After 2 nights we woke up with red itchy welts. We found dozens of bedbugs and eggs on the sheet at the foot of the bed. Had to move out immediately. Management refused to refund our money telling us we had brought the bedbugs to his hotel!
Stay away!

It’s a total 3. A clean, quiet, no frills place to sleep. Plenty of free parking, decent wifi, and clear TV.

So, this review is another one of those relative things. There aren’t that many hotels on Ventura, so you are limited in your options if you want to stay there — I will begin by saying that as far as hotels on Ventura goes, Tarzana Inn is near the best.
That said, I can’t say I had a great experience there.
(1) I booked a king bed online. When I showed up, I was told there were no king beds, and the manager had said so.
(2) My room had a drizzling shower that wouldn’t stop. After some wrangling and my gf calling the main desk, we did get a king bedroom (smoking).
(2a) The original bedroom had some slightly black, moldy stains on the sheet.
(3) The new king bedroom had the same curse as all smoking rooms at hotels these days — it was «under-​renovated»: Hard bed, hard pillows, smell, scenic view of a gas station, really, really, really metal-​framed shower (my gf bumped her head), and a not-​that-​hot weak shower head.
(4) The wifi seemed weak/​bad — I just ended up having to use my mi-​fi.
Here are the positives:
— The original room had a much more comfortable bed, albeit with mold on the sheets.
— Very nice lobby, and pool/​outdoor area seemed clean
— Renovation is going on, which may involve making rooms better
— Plenty of parking for patrons in the back!
— «Ok» price at $ 89, though sometimes more (imho not worth it). My gf summed it up this way, «This felt like a $ 50 hotel room», but I guess you’re paying for location?

Nice, quiet place to stay. The staff are very friendly. Really comfortable bed and an abundance of pillows! Very economical.

This place desperately needs a renovation. We stayed here last month while visiting family. For the rate and location, we did expect a bit more.
The shower looked straight out of the 70’s, every single piece of furniture was scratched up, beds were squeaky and there was a hoodie behind one of the chairs on the ground when we walked in which showed me just how much they «cleaned» the room. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Kudos to Victor and his lovely wife, as the new ownership has moved forward accordingly and has acquiesced to the needs and and variables of the property and guests. Victor remains a wonderful contact of assurance and apptitude. He is certainly an asset for Tarzana Inn and should be recognized for his great efforts.
There is still work to be done in certain rooms but we remain confident that these variables will be rectified accordingly, thank you

I was thinking it would be great based on the reviews and it’s location but it was pretty bad. The room was about 110 degrees and the air conditioning had not been turned on before our arrival so we were hot the whole night trying to sleep. In addition the floor wa
s so dirty it made our feet black just after a few minutes. It was so filthy we had to make sure nothing touched the floor. Breakfast total joke corn flakes and milk. Yes it’s convenient but it’s gross.

My husband booked a room on Tarzana Inn’s website. It was booked as a non-​smoking room because I don’t smoke and am allergic. When I got there they had it as a smoking room and it was all they had available. I ended up canceling and their only saving grace is that thy did not charge me for the room or a cancelation fee.
This would not have been so bad if I didn’t have such a hard time finding a room in the LA area. From Burbank to LAX EVERTHING was booked!
I ended up paying double and a half for a room 45 minutes away (with traffic) from my destination.
Thank you for not charging me, but I will not be booking here again.

The man at the front desk was pretty rude and when I asked for extra towels but he said that I can’t get any because the housekeeping wasn’t there anymore and it was only 5 PM. The room I am staying doesn’t even have a key so I can’t go out unless someone stays in the room or I ask them to unlock the door for me. They won’t give me the key to enter and I don’t even know why.
The bathrooms are also very tiny and the shower door is horrible.
And a little tip if you smoke, you probably don’t want to stay here or else you’ll get fined $ 250.
But anyway, I’ve stayed at way better hotels/​motels/​inns.

Preis-​/​Leistungsverhältnis stimmte überhaupt nicht. Das Zimmer roch muffig, die Klimaanlage funktionierte nicht richtig und das Frühstück war äußerst dürftig! Es gibt viel bessere Hotels in der Umgebung. Will man zu den Universal Studios, wohnt man besser am Airport LAX. Von Tarzana aus benötigt man morgens eine halbe Ewigkeit wegen der vielen Staus.
