Dr. Susman is absolutely amazing. After I moved, I needed to change doctors, and a friend of mine suggested her.
The office is in an easy to find location, small and cozy, and the staff are nothing but helpful and accommodating. I get anxious and nervous during any appointment and they are supportive, well-​trained and a delight to be around, given the circumstance of going to the doctor. Samantha is a delight, specifically, as she’s caring and makes sure you’re okay (I was experiencing pain during a visit and she checked on me and asked me if I needed anything).
I’d recommend Dr. Susman highly.

This is an update to my prior review from 10 days ago. Since the doctor saw my first review she mailed me lab results– results that were very concerning and worrisome based on a layman reading them– completely cold with no explanation on what they mean, along with a note telling me she saw my Unilocal review and is therefore dismissing me from her care.
Not that I would ever be going back based on the worrisome experience I had with her and her staff, however this is COMPLETELY unprofessional to send lab results cold and dismiss me because you got your feelings hurt by a negative (but accurate) Unilocal review. If I were the doctor I would certainly want to know more about the experience her patients are getting with the staff when she’s not there– wouldn’t you? For the record (and please check if you do record conversations) here’s a verbatim exchange I had with the staff member at the front desk answering my phone call about a concern I had with bloodwork paperwork that had been incorrectly filled out:
Me: «hi there, I just saw dr Susman and she gave me this form to hand to the lab for my blood draw. I noticed she marked here that I wasn’t on any medication but I am. I’m wondering if she did this for a reason and it’s correct or if it’s just a mistake and should i change the form myself?»
Staff: «it’s probably fine.»
Me: «okay…but would you mind double checking for me when she has a second? I just would feel better.»
Staff: «she probably wrote it for a reason, but if you want you can just change it yourself. It’s fine.»
Me: «uhhhh…well I know but if you could just check for me when she is free I would really appreciate it. I can hold.»
Holding…
Staff: «ok just asked her. She made a mistake. Just change it yourself, it’s fine.»
A nurse or staff member at the front desk cannot and SHOULD NOT just take a guess to what a doctor’s intentions are on a medical form. I’m sorry if this review hurt your feelings Dr, however now after receiving negative and potentially life changing lab results in the mail by you with no explanation, other than you didn’t like my Unilocal review, I stand by this review even more so. This is downright inappropriate and unprofessional behavior all around.

This is based solely off of this doctor’s staff. The lady with the «sweet sounding» voice is actually very rude and condescending when I had questions for her. If you don’t like your job, move over, there are plenty of unemployed people who can take your spot.

I went to dr sussman when i was 5 months pregnant with my 1^st baby. I just have to say i am so lucky i found such a great Dr. Her and her office are just wonderful. Her staff are very nice and on top of their stuff. Her office is cute and very welcoming. Her additude is very relaxed and nice. At all of my appointnents i felt all my concerns and questions were addressed. She did an ultrasound at every visit to check on my baby and make sure he was healthy. She always was respectful of my wishes and gave me a wide variety of options. At 39 weeks she offered (did not pressure me at all just asked) to induce me. I went in to tarzana providence hospital the next day and was induced. In the end i needed and emergancy c section becuase my baby was in distress which TERRIFIED me. I had never had surgery so i started having a panic attack. I was crying and screaming, She was there by my side comforting me the whole time even though i was being rediculous and freaking out. Im emberassed over my behavior but she was nice to me the whole time telling the other dr. s that i was just scared and to wait to let the anesthesia kick in. I ended up needing to be put out for the surgery but i awoke to a very healthy happy baby. I am most pleased with the fact she made quick decisions and did what was best for my baby when it came down to it. I would definitely go to her again for another baby, i trust her completely with my and my babies lives.

I was very impressed with the office décor, it felt like I was in a Living Room and not a sterile operating room. This was my first visit with Dr. Susman for my annual exam. The wait time in the waiting room was longer than preferred by not unexpected for an ob/​gyn (like it or not, the maternity patients usually get first priority and if I had a critical health need, I’d want to moved to the head of the line.) No problems with the office staff and Dr. Susman came across very personable and re-​assuring. I will definitely return.

I really don’t understand the good reviews on here… Dr. Sussman is not that great. I was seeing her for prenatal care. She doesn’t take the time with you that’s needed. Every appointment felt rushed and I didn’t get answers to any questions I had. The «Doctor» changed my due date twice. They «lost» my labs. I had a rash break out all over my face and when I called they said I don’t know go to urgent care… if you want to. The nurse with the glasses was extremely rude and just didn’t seem happy to be there, she never smiles. The waiting room is very, very tiny (it’s not the one in the photo on Unilocal!) Its always crowded with people often standing blocking the doorways. I even had to wait 2 hours to see her once. I really started having major concerns about what would happen when its time to deliver my baby. I mean they couldnt get ANYTHING right! So I switched to the doctor that delivered my previous baby and I’m so happy I did! I just couldn’t trust Susman to deliver my baby especially if something went wrong.

This is my second pregnancy with Dr. Susman. I wouldn’t go to any other doctor. She is friendly funny and caring. Her staff Samantha and Annie have always been supportive and informative. I have recommended Dr. Susman to two of my friends and they were really happy with her.

I’ve been to Dr. Susman’s office twice so far for prenatal visits. I switched to her at 16 weeks and I’m so glad I did! Her office is clean and the staff is friendly. I think she is a very nice doctor who I feel super comfortable with. I love that her office has an ultrasound machine and I’m happy she will be the one to deliver my first baby! :)

I like to think of it as a serendipitous mix of fate and destiny to have stumbled upon Dr. Susman’s office. My first visit to her, I was immediately impressed by the fragranced aroma, warm, rich, vibrant colors and mixture of textures in the front office. The sprawling abundance of all the latest fashion and lifestyle magazines also piqued my interest.
The very pleasant, courteous and warm staff members, guided me to the back weighed me in, and directed me to the bathroom. The attention to detail and meticulously clean facility beyond impressed me. To my delight as I sat on the throne and felt the warmed toilet seat… I knew that I had truly discovered the most amazingly awesome doctors office.
So finally I get the pleasure of meeting Dr. Susman and she instantaneously radiated so much warmth and graciousness that it made me feel so comfortable and safe. My examination was quick, painless and so human. Dr. Susman treated me so awesomely that I know without a doubt that she will be the doctor to one day deliver my children and as long as she’s practicing she will be my doctor.
My latest experience was a bit more unexpected, yet Dr. Susman and her staff accommodated me to the upmost. Once again, I felt so much warmth, welcomed and nurtured during my experience.
I sincerely would like to thank Dr. Susman and her staff members for not only completely taking care of my medical issues but for the extraordinary manner in which they did so. Thank you for being so kind, warm, nurturing and comforting to me. I know that this may sound exaggerative, but it’s honestly the most fitting way to describe my treatment. Dr. Susman especially and her staff treated me as though they genuinely loved me. And for me, that has touched my heart in an indescribable manner. There are literally no words to express the gratitude that I feel. May you all continue to heal, care and warm hearts.

Fantastic office and great doctor. Seamless care, communication, paperwork, billing ect. Appointment times can be late… but heck she’s delivering babies all day too!

The staff is worst ever. So rude! So stupid. Horrible. I use to see dr susman then i changed dr then i wanted to go back see dr.susman. Staff was so rude telling i cant keep changing doctors. And i was asking if the places they send me to to do ulterasound. Accept my insurance. That did not make sense to them. so stupid and rude. I like dr susman but i hate her staff

The staff was rude but Dr Susman was very worth it. I came in with an unusual situation which had been troubling me and I appreciate the kindness with which she treated me more than I can say. She was also grounded and experienced and I liked the fact she did the ultrasound herself. Caring about people is a very important quality in a doctor.
Back a few months later, a new location which is very pleasant and much less hectic than the old one. The staff is still just ok, but Dr. Susman is absolutely lovely — down to earth, kind, practical, listens and much more experienced and knowledgeable than other gynecologists I’ve seen. I don’t hesitate at all to recommend her.

Called to make an appointment as I’m looking for a new obgyn ! So rude the receptionist put me on hold in the middle of my conversation and left me on hold for 5 minutes ! Hope they don’t treat all there new clients this way.

I have been going to Dr Sussman for several years now. I find her to be one terrific Dr! She is prompt & caring & her office smells wonderful & very clean! I would recommend this terrific Dr to any woman looking for a new OBGYN

An open acknowledgment is the least return I can render to you for saving my life. With a 15-​year, long-​standing and incapacitating case of uterine fibroid tumors, defying all treatment attempts and causing unbearable symptoms as they grew in size and quantity, I felt as if I was going to either bleed to death, have a heart attack due to a dangerously low hemoglobin level of 3.7, or commit suicide. I was ready to do anything to permanently escape the never-​ending, physical and psychological torture of this disease of unknown origin.
If it wasn’t for your extraordinary expertise, skills, disposition, advice, professionalism and service, surely, one of the above may have likely occurred. Therefore, I am compelled to assert that you are both great assets to the medical profession and epitome of every patient’s wish in having experienced, empathetic, understanding, approachable, and respectful surgeons, on their side — especially when in the midst of a storm. Before, during, and after my surgery, you went above and beyond, consistently displaying each of these fine qualities.
From the moment I landed in the emergency room and throughout my 14-​day hospital stay, your expression of undying care, concern, and compassion was unparalleled. Every attempt was made to minimize my fears, tears, anxiety, and multitude of other nerve-​racking emotions which made my journey easier. You even went as far as explaining various aspects of the procedure during the preparatory phase with utmost clarity and patience.
While words may appear inadequate in expressing my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude, I sincerely thank you for performing a successful partial hysterectomy on me in February 2009. After removal of five pounds of fibroids, I headed down recovery road, victoriously. Because of you, my life, health, and well-​being has been fully restored. Thanks to you I am, now, fibroid-​free, pain-​free, happier, and healthier than ever before.
Surgeons like you are rare. Therefore, I am fortunate and thankful my life was placed in your remarkable and expert hands. Like towers of strength, both of you, your OR team, and medical staff at Sherman Oaks Hospital and Tarzana Medical Center, exponentially, extended my life. P. S. I am inspired by all that you do for others and have written a candid memoir detailing my 15-​year battle against fibroids. I wrote it to help those suffering in silence, as I did.

Dr. Susman and her staff are wonderful. I never have to wait very long. I’m usually in and out for my routine prenatal appoinments in 20 minutes.
She is very empathetic (when delivering me bad news about my miscarriage) and enthusiastic (about my current healthy pregnancy). I would think my pregnancy would be business as usual for her but she seemed almost as excited as my mother!
I’m not a super needy pregnant lady but when I do have a question I just send her an e-​mail and usually have an answer within a few minutes. She must check her e-​mail between patients.
Her office is more like a spa than a doctors office with heated toilet seats and scented candles. I always look forward to my appointments!

First of all: EVERYONES BABIES SHOULD BE DELIVERED BY THIS AMAZING WOMAN.
I have been going to Dr. Susman since 2010. I found her after a horrific experience at an OBGYNs office during my second pregnancy. She was like a ray of sunshine. The office is like a friggin spa. It’s decorated nicely… smelly candles burning… lish furnishing… private changing rooms… high-​end soaps and lotions… HEATED TOILET SEATS for cryin out loud! And yet… NO pretentious assholes! The women who work in this office are awesome. Dr. Susman is AWESOME. She’s open-​minded, progressive, constantly updating her practice and policies. She’s friendly and always has the time for me when I’m there. Anyone who reported otherwise really must have caught her on a crazy busy day (also…keep in mind… there are babies being born next door in the hospital and sometimes she literally has to leave patients waiting and racr next door to deliver a baby and then race back so cut her some friggin SLACK yo). She is super reluctant to use interventions like forceps, etc during birth. She was very supportive of me wanting a natural, drug-​free birth and didn’t treat me like an idiot but actually TRUSTED ME unlike so many doctprs. She really loves the babies and the Mamas and I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my life or my kids’ lives (even though I will NOT be having anymore). She is still my oB though and I actually love going to see her every six months. Who do you know who says that about a doctor??? Also… regarding someone’s complaint about billing… the receptionist doesn’t do the billing. They use an outside billing specialist (like most medical offices) so you can’t blame the poor receptionist for errors. And keep in mind these people deal with hormonal bitches all day every day with a smile on their faces so if their smile isn’t there when dealing with you ask yourself — are YOU being a hormonal bitch? Maybe you should check that instead. of expexting your ass to be kissed.

I wouldn’t think of anyone other than Dr. Susman to deliver our children. I was immediately impressed 7 years ago when we were referred to Dr. Susman when my wife and I were starting our family. We now have 3 healthy, amazing children :). My wife was very concerned about finding a doctor that was board certified. I was excited when we went to our first appointment and learned that Dr. Susman graduated from my alma mater, Tulane! It didn’t hurt that she was a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Navy, either. Ever since then, my wife and I have referred our friends to her to deliver their babies and they have all loved her and her staff. Maybe it’s the heated toilet seats or the soothing candles in the office, but my wife would not think of going to any other doctor for her care. Happy wife, happy life!

I went to Dr. Susman only once and was very disappointed in terms of her inquiring about me. It seemed like she was not really interested in having me as a new patient based on how little of a history she obtained or questions she asked.
Then I had a MAJOR problem with her billing department and I ended up over paying. They still have not refunded my money. They don’t return phone calls. I find her billing department and office staff totally inept. I would never go to her again. I do not recommend this doctor.

Dr. Susman has a great bedside manner and her office is very comfortable. She makes the effort to create a great atmosphere so patients don’t feel awkward around her. Her staff is efficient and knowledgeable. The heated toilet seat is also a surprisingly great plus! There are times though that I feel rushed, especially when there are lots of patients waiting. Be prepared for a bit of wait, but it should be worth it.
