This is our home away from home. Our teenage daughters love it here too. Each little casita has its own unique charm. We normally stay in #4, but stayed in #6 this time. It will be hard to choose next time. They are both adorable. Lovey, the owner and her family are always friendly and helpful. One reviewer said it was noisy– I would have to strongly disagree. We often sit on the front porch and are amazed at the silence; especially since we are only a block off the main road. All we ever hear are crickets. My only hesitancy in giving it 5 stars is that the more people who know about this gem, will make it harder to get reservations in the future.

These little casitas are nicely equipped and in a great location. It’s about a block from the best restaurant in town, Michael’s Kitchen, and a couple of blocks from the Plaza. There’s also an ale house right next door, so it’s definitely walking distance from most of the action in town. The casitas have a kiva fireplace, separate bedroom, living area, and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full-size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, etc. The bedroom was a little tight, but the size is appropriate for the age of the casita. The mattress was a little firm for my taste, but they supply plenty of pillows, so I eventually made my own pillow-top mattress out of all of the extra pillows. The bedroom had a ceiling fan and a portable electric fan, which was barely adequate in the unusually hot weather. 88 degrees is HOT in Taos(sounds silly having fled the 106 Texas heat), but most places like this in Taos don’t have AC. The parking lot is really tight. We asked if there was parking for a 16′ trailer before we booked and they said there was. However, in reality, there is not extra parking and it was really tight turning into the parking lot off the street. They did accommodate us parking the trailer along the rail, but we felt like we were in everyone else’s way by doing so. The moral to the story is: if you are pulling a trailer, stay somewhere else that had easier, more convenient parking. The complex also had a hot tub, which I’m sure is great in the winter. I used it one night for a few minutes, but the weather was too warm to really enjoy it. There is a nice fenced area for the hot tub that had tables and a chiminea, which we enjoyed with our friends. The only real annoyance was that the facility lost power multiple times each nigh. Between that and the area noise(having to have all of the windows open), it was hard to get a good night’s sleep. Casita #2 also needs to have curtains or blinds installed over the door as it’s mostly glass and is a straight shot to the bedroom. All in all, the place is friendly and a good place to stay, especially if you’re wanting to spend time in the many galleries or shops around the plaza.

Loved the charm and quaint feel of the lodging! We will be back. Much nicer than a hotel given the amenities you have. Walking distance to shops and restaurants is a plus, as is the hot tub, bbq, and kitchenette. Great place for an extended stay. Lovey is a great host as well!

Lovey, the owner is great. Charlie, her dog(a fox terrier and chihuaha is adorable) Casita # 4 is great. I chose it for its size, kiva fireplace. Choice well made! There is a great hottub, DVDs you can check out, close distance to Taos Plaza, a nice little yard to walk your dog in.

Clean cozy and nicely furnished. Close walking distance to Taos shopping. The grill and enclosed patio were fantastic for our family reunion. Just missing a coffee grinder.

Taos Lodging is a great place to stay in the heart of Taos, New Mexico. It consists of 8 or 9 casitas — small, cabins consisting of one or two bedrooms, with complete kitchens and living areas. Rates are pretty inexpensive(about $ 120 a night for two), the place is relaxing and laid back(but no b&b feel, if you know what I mean). You have your own private area, can walk to the square and the heart of the Taos shopping dining district, have the use of a hot tub and charcoal grill(and even a small kids play area). I try to go back at least once a year — sometimes with the kids or other family, sometimes just with my hubby. We’ve stayed in four of the cabins and each is nice in it’s own way.
