Specialties
Artemisia is Northern New Mexico’s premier destination for one-of-a-kind handwovens and Art to Wear. We feature an eclectic collection of handwovens, along with wearable art and accessories made by American fiber artists or small design studios from all across the country.
History
Established in 2002.
ARTEMISIA opened its doors in March 2002 in Taos, New Mexico. The store was named Artemisia in recognition of the Italian painter Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 – 1652).
The original owner retired and the store was purchased by Yvonne Swartz in April, 2015. Shoppers will find handwovens from local and regional artists, along with one-of-a-kind art wear and accessories that make Artemisia a favorite destination for fiber arts lovers from around the world.

Business Owner
Artemisia was founded in 2003 and has become a destination for lovers of fine handwovens and wearable art. The original owner retired and Yvonne took over the reins in April 2015. Yvonne is a graphic designer and left a full-time management position in 2013 to explore other career interests and finally landed in Taos at Artemisia. Yvonne will continue to feature a collection of handwovens, artwear and accessories that have been crafted using a combination of natural fibers, brilliant colors, and rich textures.
