In recent years, the Campus Recreation building has been totally revamped and it is better than ever! There are group fitness classes as well as personal training options for whatever suits your needs. The Rec Center also has an indoor heated pool with eight lanes for swimming laps. There are several intramurals and sports clubs for those with a competitive nature. Different types of equipment and balls are also available to be checked out on a first come, first serve basis. Use of all the Campus Rec facilities are free to current USF students. USF faculty, staff, alumni association members, and several other groups can also pay a membership fee for use of the facilities. The Campus Recreation center has two levels filled with a variety of exercise equipment. If you can think of it, chances are they have it! There are two free weight sections surrounded by dozens of weight machines. A large cardio area with treadmills and stationary bikes is in the back corner. Sanitary wipes are provided to clean any equipment after use. Another benefit are the huge locker rooms where you can pay a fee to have your own locker, with the option to include shower towel service. However, there are limited student lockers available daily with lock codes. Being inexperienced in the gym, I found them a little confusing to navigate! Luckily a friendly gym-goer gave me some assistance. I have found that overall this is a great gym with helpful staff and friendly members. If you feel uncomfortable in a gym setting, feel free to take a guided tour of the facility and attend a group class. You will not regret visiting this wonderful recreation center!
