Too expensive. Sad that they are marketing to USF kids as lower cost. Other shops in Brandon gives a 10% discount and prices are lower and customer service lots better. Worth the drive folks.

Super friendly fast and helpful. I needed my bicycle shipped and they gave me all of my options. Once I selected for them to box and ship, they took care of everything to box and would let me know the dimensions and weight for shipping. Super convenient.

I was in desperate need of a flat fixed and Hector at University took care of it in about 10 minutes. I had just filled up my bike tires the night before in preparation for a full day on them at Gasparilla. To my dismay, when I woke up Saturday morning one of the tires was flat, I called University and explained my predicament and Hector said bring it in and he would do it while I waited. He did and we had a great day riding our bikes. I will never take my bike for repairs or purchase a bike from anyplace other than University… Thanks again

Went in for service on a women’s Trek a couple months ago. Just minor stuff, the price was right and service fast. Done in a few hours on a Saturday.
Large selection of gear and bikes, good size service department. I’ll be back for a tune-​up soon.

Without a doubt the worst business sense I have ever seen. I tried to give them my cc information over the phone to put a down payment on a bike for my son. I am seperated from my wife and she was going to pick up the bike. Down payment was 50% +. 140 dollars. They would not do it without me in the store. Idiots, you have the bike. What do you stand a chance to lose, except a customer? I explained debit card, and they would have their money before we get off the phone. She tells me they have a problem with charge backs. Well that’s their problem and the cost of doing business. Apparently they are doing something seriously wrong if they get that many. Maybe service issues or inferior equipment is the cause of the charge backs.

Bought my father in law a bike for Father’s Day. Gave it to him early. He loves it. We bought a giant cypress with front shocks. The quality is amazing. I’m definitely buying my next mountain bike here. Great store and friendly staff

I bought my bike rack there in 2013 and it was a $ 300.00 bike rack. Well I had an issue with part of the rack that came apart so I contacted them and told them my situation. I was not very happy with this and felt like this shud have happened. When I called them to let them know what happened they were able to order the part. I have since moved to Sarasota so the drive back to Tampa was a bit of a distance to go. When I got there Connie had asked Adam to help her and without any hesitation, he did. He was a delight. Great attitude and made me feel very comfortable. He helped my experience be a positive one. So I thank you Adam for being so welcoming and making sure I was comfortable with the rack. Thank you again for making my experience pleasant! I would recommend this bike shop to anyone. They are very good to deal with! I will definitely be back or at least recommend you guys to my friends!

They give a military discount and they are awesome at fixing bikes that you get for free

If you are a cyclist, you should check out this bike shop. You will be like a kid in a candy store. They have a large selection of gear, from helmets to shoes/​cleats/​pedals to obscure parts and nutritional supplements.
We came to look at road bikes to replace my boyfriend’s 30 year old Trek. I had been nagging him to get a new bike for weeks but you know how men like to repair old things instead of buying new ones. Anyways, he ended up trying out some bikes that were on sale and purchasing a nice new one after all!
Hipster employee Jacob went through all the motions including fitting, trying out bikes and finally, financing. Perhaps it is because this store services USF students who are short on cash but I haven’t yet encountered another bike shop that offers interest-​free financing (upon approval) and I thought that was a great option.
I have been impressed with pretty much every bike shop that I have visited in Tampa and this one was no exception. It also happens to be the closest to home which is great, and right across from Toyota where I often spend ungodly amounts of time getting my car serviced. The customer service was great and the selection is pretty vast. They are open until 7pm on weekdays, and got really busy around 6pm, so I would give yourself a few hours if you are looking to get a bike since the process is very thorough. Enjoy!

Bought a new mountain bike for my growing like a weed son! Had to hide the bike at my office prior to Christmas and got so many compliments & wows on the bike.
I paid way way less than everyone thought, that was awesome!
But the winner was the son! Total win!!! loves it!
They also serviced a BMX bike for him and its literally like new!!!
So going back for anything else bike related!

We always take our bikes to University Bicycle Center for the repairs and general service. Manny Sr. does a great job! He’s kind, and gets the job done!

I have 2 cannondale mountain bikes that were in need of service. They did a great job and took pride in their work. The service manager Manny SR was phenomenal. Walked me through the bike and discussed the work that needed to be done; there were no surprises. Very happy with the shop.
While waiting, one of the sale reps (Adam) took the time to walk me through the road bikes and even fit me for a bike. He never tried to push a product and was very detailed in showing the bikes within my budget and skill level. While I have not purchased a road bike yet, this place will have my business when I decide to take dive into road biking!

I’ve been in the market for a new bicycle for several months, and I’ve been shopping the various stores in town to talk with the employees and look at the wide selection of bicycles. As I started this quest I could tell the difference between a racing bike and an off-​road bike, but truly had no idea whether I wanted a commuter or a hybrid.
I knew that I didn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a custom carbon-​framed racing bike, nor did I want to buy a cheap piece of crap from a discount superstore. That’s where Manny and the team from University Bike Center (UBC) have been tremendously helpful. They patiently took the time to walk me through the various options and explained the pros and cons of each style of bicycle. I told them I was interested in a bike to ride on the Upper Tampa Bay Trail and to use as I tooled around the neighborhood.
The commuter bike seemed to be the best fit for my needs, and that was then followed by an extensive set of measurements to determine the correct frame height, placement of the pedals, location of the handlebars and so on. Once we had all of that information filled out on my profile it was time to start shopping for the various bikes. (As you can see this whole process is a lot more involved than simply picking out the blue bicycle with the little silver bell on the handlebars, or the black one with the baseball cards in the spokes of the front wheel.)
Since those initial visits to UBC Bikes, I have gone to several other bike shops around town to ask similar questions and see what else I can learn. I’ve rented a few bikes and taken them out for a spin on the trail, and I’m about ready to make my purchase. The guys at UBC Bikes have one me over with their professionalism and their quality of merchandise, and this is where I’ll be making my purchase.

Poor service. I’m not mad at them, just poor service in the parts department. I brought in a broken chain and asked for a replacement. Service guy took one look and handed me a new chain. He didn’t ask to compare to see if it was the right length and I didn’t know enough to make sure it was correct. That is why I handed him the chain. Granted it was the last 20 minutes of the day, that’s why I handed him the chain. He didn’t want to help me, he just wanted to sell me something. I don’t need to go back, I’ll go to the other bike store around the corner. Go for sales, not for parts. Shortening a chain is easy, I learned later that night. It would have taken him no time at all.

The only big store I would shop at, Manny has worked hard for many years building his store from a small house full of bikes to a top notch big store, Plus he sells cannondale my favorite race bike .

This local bike shop has never failed me! The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about everything in the store. My friend took her bike tire in for a fix and they did a thorough diagnosis, finding another minor issue they were able to also fix for only $ 1.50. They are really looking out for your best interest. I took my broken bike locked that I got at another store to University Bicycle Center and they fixed it for free!

Drove from the ‘burbs becuase our local small bike shop did not have any bikes that suited DD. This place is two stories of bikes!
Very knowledgeable and attentive salesman helped us make a decision and find a great bike and accessories.
They included extra tun-​ups. And we drove back to get them, no extra pressure to buy more — but we did pick up a few more accessories anyway.
It’s been 3 years now and DD needs to go to college in Utah. Unlike my local shop that was going to overcharge her, UBC will box for less than $ 50 and make sure the total dimension is 129″ so we don’t have to pay for over-​sized box shipping fees.
I don’t know where the negative comment from a long time ago came from. While we were there they were very busy, but I did not wait a long time to be helped. There were a LOT of experienced bikers in there — so I know they would go where they got the best prices and service.
They stayed available to us till we made our decision and I appreciated that. Also, their bike repair is very experienced.
Plenty of parking — great central location. Highly recommend this place for all of your biking needs.

These guys are awful and do not take their jobs serious. My first experience here was with a salesman who wondered around the store aimlessly not thinking I actually wanted to buy anything.
I decided to give them another chance. I wanted them to match a price on a bike that I had found somewhere else and they were supposed to call me back. Never did so I called them. They claimed they had been very busy and had not had the chance to call the other store. The guy said he would call the other place immediately after we hung up. The day passed on, still no phone call back.
These guys DO NOT want to sell you a bike. Go elsewhere.
