The Woman’s Group

I was referred to this practice group by two of their patients who spoke highly of them. The first time I called the office, I waited 25 minutes just to speak with someone to make an appointment. The scheduler was competent and did her job efficiently. The appointment was scheduled for three weeks from the date I made it. I was told to complete the patient forms online. A week before the appointment, Dr. Serrano canceled my appointment due to surgery I was told. My appointment was rescheduled for two weeks later despite their having cancelled my original appointment. So here we are, 5 weeks later, which is ridiculous.
I showed up for my appointment today and was handed a binding arbitration agreement they wanted me to sign. Having reviewed it, and reading that it waived my right to sue them in the event of their malpractice, I wasn’t comfortable signing my rights away. I asked if it was mandatory to be signed in order to be seen, and I was told yes. Because I wasn’t comfortable signing same, I left the appointment without being seen.
This practice should advise their potential patients about the necessity of this form ahead of time to give the patient time to review and consider the pros and cons. They should also allow you the right to decline signing instead of blocking your access to courts. This arbitration agreement really only protects the practice, not you as a patient.

I didn’t even get to schedule an appointment yet and I already don’t like the place. Called the main number on the website, only heard a recording and waited at least 10 minutes and no one answered the phone. I then called the number for the office I wanted to go to. I pressed «0» was on the phone with a person and they asked what insurance I had and I informed them Coventry. She proceeded to tell me «oh I don’t know if we take that insurance I have to transfer you» REALLY??? you are suppose to schedule patients and you don’t know what insurances your office takes??? I was transferred back to an automated line selected the option I needed then waited another 10 minutes and no one answered.

How is it that as the first appointment they are 45+ minutes behind. Each year it gets worse. I’ve been going to the practice for 18 years but it’s probably time to end my loyalty. If I showed up 45 minutes late they would make me reschedule my appointment and not see me. So disrespectful.

I gave them two tries. I won’t go into all the ugly details but here are the few reasons why I won’t be going back
1. Front desk ladies (both times) are not very friendly or helpful. I asked why I owed so much when I have two insurances and my co pay is only 20. I was informed that it was due to my deductible. I then asked if she had ran it through both of my insurances. She said that they only run one. I asked why she said «Because we just don’t» REALLY
2. Dr. had no personality. She seemed bored. Second visit we discussed the results… We can actually test you to find out if you have XYZ or we can just manage your pain with pain meds or just wait and see what happens… REALLY again REALLY
3. When I checked out (both times) I asked for an itemized receipt so I could submit it to my FSA. First time not an issue. Second time the woman was like «what do you mean, itemized?» A little snotty but I was like whatever. I explained, she then gets up and makes a copy of the sheet that the Dr. had written on. Hands it to me and tells me that is all she has.
4. Since they only run one insurance for both visit (15 May and 29 May) They had me pay close to $ 300 when I should have only paid $ 40 for both. My insurance company paid the 29 May visit on 16 June. I had to call the Woman’s Group billing department to ask were my refund was on 23 July. When I spoke to Jeanette and asked why haven’t I received my refund for both, she told me that someone would have to go in and pull a report to find out that I over paid. I said «So are you telling me if I don’t call and ask for my money back that I would just never get it back?» She said «Well Ma’am we have OVER 1000 patients!» I let her talk then I starting asking some other questions and she started to talk over me.
As of 1 Aug, I have only received a refund for one of the visits. It’s not that I am hurting for money but what if I was, what if the next person is? I had gotten out of the military and asked a few friends where they go. One of my friends said she, her mother and Aunt go here. Once I mentioned to her what was happening she said she has had the same issue and now when she calls to make an appointment she asks how much and then when they are wrong she makes them run it again even before she gets there.
To me this is unacceptable– do your job correctly. All the fancy furniture and your English accent lady on the phone when you call doesn’t make up for the rest of the incompetent and rude people.

I spoke with my OBGYN regarding the Depo shot for birth control. When I spoke with the physician about the possible side effects of the shot (blood clots, hormonal changes — anything!) she immediately dismissed my fears and told me the only thing I might experience was tenderness at the injection site.
Fast forward a month later as I am having increasingly heavy bleeding, a month-​long period, and lightheadedness from losing so much volume. When I finally got into my primary care physician, I found out my hemoglobin was incredibly low and the only reason was the Depo shot causing me to bleed so heavily. My NEW OBGYN (I moved out of state shortly after starting the Depo shot), immediately put me on a new birth control to minimize the bleeding and said this was a very common side effect of the Depo shot that my provider should have mentioned.
Don’t be fooled by the pretty office — know all the facts before you go to this group and take any meds they prescribe!

The Woman’s Group is a group is filled more with fancy furniture than competent people. I went there originally because my mom suggested it. That turned into an issue. The things they said to mother were so unbelievably inconsiderate to my mother that I am embarrassed I ever gave a cent to this place. My mother’s disease is not curable and the idiots that work here clearly either don’t understand that or they just are smart enough to care. Not only does my blood boil that they said that but my own experiences just made this place despicable and I would stop any woman from entering.
If you are not pregnant don’t even bother. I have tried year after year to schedule my routine yearly exam and each time, I schedule it for 7:30am because god forbid i have to make it to work. I sit and wait until 8:15 — 8:20 without being called. I walk up there to ask why i haven’t been called and on FOUR, YES FOUR occasions, I have gotten, «You haven’t been called?» No dumbass I have been sitting here for an hour because I respect your arriving 15 minutes before scheduled appointments rules and you still screw me. Then they have the audacity to have their MORNING MEETINGS IN THE RECEPTIONIST AREA! Yes so while i worry about my ass getting chewed out by my boss, they are laughing and giggling like school girls. Seriously whoever thought that was a good idea needs to wake up. I even decided when I changed insurances to give them one last chance and the lady on the phone went… uh yea you are going to have to go online to see if we can take that insurance. Seriously. You are sitting in front of a computer full of insurance providers that you take.
To sum this up SELL THOSE FANCY COUCHES AND HIRE COMPETENT PEOPLE. Hell even nice people would be an upgrade.

I’ve had it with this office. I’ve been with them for my yearly women’s exams for the past three years and it has become evident that they are just there to run an office and don’t care about the patients well being.
If you’re like me and get the dreaded yet extremely common YI before/​after your menstrual cycle, and think you can just call in and say «hey, me again, it’s that time of the month and i’m suffering and i’m an adult so I know my body could you call in the medication for me?», forget it. I have had it called in for me before numerous times to save me the $ 50 and hassle of going in and now all of the sudden its «against their policy» to «treat over the phone.» First of all, you don’t even talk to your doctor, the call always always always goes to the medical assistant’s voice mail where they take a whole day to call you back. Second, i’m not asking you to treat me over the phone i’m telling you what I have and asking for the medicine to be called in and as my doctor, or my doctor’s assistant rather, you should talk to the doctor and have her call in the medication, since I cant talk to her myself. When the medical assistant finally called me back at 4:30pm on a Friday this time, she said «its not our policy to treat over the phone, and we need you to come in.» I told her how its been called in for me many times before, where they just not following the policy then? Her response: «The policy may have changed since then (you don’t know when your companies policies change?) or someone may have gotten the information from the doctor to go ahead and call it in and unfortunately the doctor is not in today.» If that was the case, shouldn’t her initial statement have been «I’m sorry the doctor wasn’t in today and I wasn’t able to have her confirm to send it in.» not some generic customer service response of «i’m sorry, its not our policy…»
What if I was out of the country and had the infection, would I have to board an airplane and fly home to come in so they could confirm what I already know and give me the medication? I’m not asking for barbiturates or anything scary, i’m asking you to call in a simple prescription for Diflucan, lady. Do your job.
This is the second time its happened to me, the first time the medical assistant called me back once and left me a message telling me I had to come in and when I called her back again leaving a voice mail (because again, no one answers the phones there) she straight up did not bother calling me back at all.
That’s some prime medical care right there, ladies.
Not to mention, the wait times are absolutely ridiculous and the nurses chat loudly and eat candy in the «room», which is more of a hall way, where you get your vitals taken.
One star only because their call center recording has a nice British lady accent and their waiting room looks like it came out of a Rooms-​to-​Go showcase.

After trying to transfer out of state during my last trimester and being a week late for a appointment in my previous state due to extreme circumstances, I tried to get into this office ASAP and was told I could get in.
I came from a wonderful practice never long waits, beautiful office, the best patient care I have ever seen. Thank you DR. Capet at Austin Area OBGYN. I guess I expected somewhat of the same treatment and never made it to this uncaring practice. I also forgot to mention that during my first call I told them I was feeling very sick but they dont care as «I am a new patient» and they cant see me yet. The process went like this: I called a week and half before my insurance was to expire and spoke to Patricia in the South Tampa office. She said you need your documents sent for review so my former office expedited them. They apparently received them and let them sit on the desk a few days and never bothered to call me to schedule an appointment. I left voice-​mails they didn’t bother to return them so now its the 31^st and my former insurance is expired after today. My new one wont be reinstated for a few weeks which I TOLD Patricia upfront that I needed in and she said oh we will get you in. After some screaming today since I am being treated like its not a big deal she says oh we wont take you anymore if you are going to talk like that as she dances around the fact that she dropped the ball and blames the Dr. for barely ever being in the office. Mind you I sat on the phone prior to this call for 10 min on hold. But that seems to be the norm every-​time I tried calling I was on hold for long wait times. Customer care is terrible here I have never seen such poor practices and non-​professionalism. Beginning to wonder if this is the norm for FL as I had such great care in Austin. Hoping to find a better practice that doesn’t treat you so poorly during such an important time.

The office itself is impressive. I was blown away by the décor and the pre-​exam chat with the nurse practitioner in her office. It definitely made it less awkward when we got down to business. And while I had her attention, the experience was great.
And I guess a long wait to be brought back is somewhat expected in a doctor’s office. Where they fall short is the lack of attention and communication once you leave the office. Their answering service message was not changed when they decided to close in the middle of the day, so it continued to say they were at lunch until 1:30pm. Messages left on voicemail do not always get returned and when they do, it can be days later. This is über frustrating if you’re trying to call about a prescription. After I spoke with the front desk to reschedule an appointment, they had me down for something completely different. This led to a lot of confusion with the nurse practitioner. As a fellow health care provider, I find all this to be highly unacceptable.
Don’t be fooled by the tablets they tap away on. They don’t improve communication from the front of the office to the back of the office. I wanted an office of only female providers out of preference, but if it means I get all this headache and stress with it, I’ll go somewhere else. One day, my dear hubby and I will start a family, and I don’t want to be stressed about miscommunication and inefficiencies that are so easily controllable.

If I could give them one trillion stars I would. What do you say about a team of doctors that keep you and your unborn child alive and well despite the most horrible set of pregnancy issues? Dr. Cohen and Dr. Roush, you are forever in our hearts.

Heartless, soulless people! Go at your own risk. My biggest regret is choosing them for the delivery of our first child. They left us stressed looking for a new provider with two months to go when we had a change in policy because of my new job! I strongly don’t recommend!

This is THE BEST doctor’s office I have ever been to! You walk in and think you’re in a hotel lobby. Beautiful décor, comfy couches. The receptionists aren’t dressed in scrubs or business casual, but sport blazers for a classy look. Who knew that would make such a difference on first impression? I was actually glad I chose to wear a dress that day so I wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb in the fancy environment.
The back is just as nice as the front. The exam room, of course, has the exam table, but the waiting char in there isn’t a regular doctor’s office chair. Again with the nice furniture that could be found in a nice hotel lobby.
And finally, my doctor. She’s actually a nurse practitioner, but she was great. I especially liked that she wanted to chat in her office instead of the exam room. It seemed more professional, but more personal at the same time, like she really is taking the time to know me and help me. I didn’t feel rushed whatsoever, and she answered my questions, gave me suggestions, and really gave off the vibe that she cared.
The only bad thing was the long wait time, but I guess that’s expected at every doctor’s office.
