Tampa Golf Range & Learning Center

I don’t know what type of driving ranges most people came up going to, but this place is better than most ranges I had access to growing up and in college. This isn’t TopGolf, nor do I want it to be. Today was my first time here and I’ll definitely be back. I was pleasantly surprised with how much range space was available where you didn’t have to hit off of a turf mat. I was able to find plenty of real estate to hit off of fresh grass. I was able to hit all of my wedges and irons off the grass and not have to worry about getting sprayed in the face with filler and sand, like most places I’m used to. I don’t bomb 350yd drives, so having a range of 250 to the back doesn’t bother me. The trees in the back funnel to a point toward the rear, which I like. It helps me get a better feel for how much my hall is tracking or leaking one way or the other. Prices were great and they accept debit/​credit cards which is a huge plus for me since I rarely have cash. If you’re wanting a country club experience where you walk up to a stacked pyramid of range balls waiting for you, then no, this isn’t your place. If you want to work on your game in a casual place where no one is there to judge your swing or your choice of clubs, this place is perfect. Btw, the range balls here were just fine. Not mint condition, but they are srixon range balls that were in good shape.

After a little (okay, a LOT) of begging, my boyfriend convinced me to join him in hitting some balls at the range last Saturday. I am far from athletic and can hardly swing a club, so golf really isn’t my cup of tea. However, I figured I’d might as well give it a shot! We never would’ve found Tampa Golf Range & Learning Center without GPS. it’s set pretty far off of N Dale Mabry. The surrounding area is residential and it basically looks like someone bought a couple lots and threw a mobile home on it for office purposes. The range certainly isn’t much to look at but it gets the job done.
As we all know by now, the weather has been pretty horrible lately. Even under those circumstances, the range wasn’t nearly as wet as I figured it would be. A few areas did have standing water out in the field though. There’s also a putting green, but we didn’t end up using it. The prices were very reasonable as well– I believe it was $ 11 for 110 balls. Only half of the stations have artificial turf. The rest were grass, but some of them were roped off due to the rain.
The only thing I didn’t like was that there were two dogs out in the yard that were very cute, but not so friendly! They barked at us when we walked toward the building and did not want us going near them. I appreciated the fact that there weren’t many golfers there. although that’s mainly because I’d be giving them a good laugh with my horrific golf swing! I am sure I will get roped into going to the range again, but I actually had a good time when all was said and done.

A small neat little practice range tucked away in a residential area. Once of those, «And, where did you say it was??» places.
The prices are reasonable for the bucket of balls. While we were there, including us, there were about 6 people. We brought our granddaughter who was learning how to hit the ball. It worked for her.

If you’re a real long ball driver, you’ll reach its boundary. Years ago for me. Now, I can almost throw the ball as far as I hit it.

This place has so much potential… Unfortunately the balls are very old and beat up. The grass tends to be grabby and the practice area is in need of an overhaul. Great property and friendly employees. Just needs some improvements to be 5star.

The price is right for this place. My only complaint was that some of the golf mats were on an angle, making it difficult to keep the ball in one place. Tucked away in carrollwood, I’m not sure a lot of people know about. I for one hope it stays that way but that’s just me being greedy :)

This driving range is tucked away in a residential neighborhood and can be easily missed if you’re not paying attention. The facility is pretty small but that could be a good thing as long as you can find a parking spot. You won’t have to compete with too many people and a good place to clear your head while driving some golf balls after a long day of work. Beware in the evening it’s a mosquito fest, as there are a lot of them and I found many dead ones on my car as well. The place overall has some potential given its location but I think some additional investment would be nice…
