Tampa Bay Outfitters

This is a nice outdoor store and expedition outfitter tucked away along South Howard Avenue. Sleeping bags, Patagonia hiking wear, tenting gear, sunglasses, and some board shorts. It’s all here. Winter coats. It’s cold out so now is the time to get bundled up. Especially if you have to venture north to colder climes such as Pasco.

I visited here to get a couple items for an upcoming trip. They carry a wide array of outdoor brands like Arc’teryx, Patagonia, Ex Officio, Yeti, Suunto, Eagle Creek, etc.
The service was friendly and I was greeted immediately. They also were very helpful in helping me locate the items I needed. The store itself is small but definitely has the key outdoor items and outerwear you would need.
Obviously, the price of the items are going to be expensive as the items are higher end outdoor items. But if you have that expectation and aware of what the prices run, you won’t be shocked.
Personally, I’m a Patagonia guy and they had a pretty good selection considering we’re in Tampa. I also got a good deal since it was Black Friday week.
Parking is easy and free. It’s right next to Panera Bread.

Great customer service and they carry a ton of great brands that I love — Patagonia, North Face, Merrell, Salomon, Osprey, Black Diamond, Keen, and many others.

Props for convenient location tucked away in the same plaza as Panera on South Howard, and an impressive selection of gear packed into relatively small square footage.
So I was really excited to come across this place – until I encountered the extremely lacking level of customer service. I have been in twice over the past two weeks and both times the staff gave me an unsettling vibe that I was inconveniencing them simply by being there.
This afternoon I stopped by to return a Patagonia T-​shirt that my girlfriend had gifted. I was hoping to exchange for a different color, but they did not have my size. I asked if they could order my size in that color – no big deal, right? I was startled to see how perplexed and frustrated that this guy was at the idea over the prospect of ordering a size that wasn’t in stock. He refused, and failed to be helpful in any way except to suggest that he could call me at some point «if that color ever comes back in stock, but I’m not sure that it will.»
I try to support local business whenever possible, but in this case I was happy to have my money refunded, walk the quarter mile back to my house, and order exactly what I wanted from

Had to pick up a new psi of Costas. They had a complete lineup and other gear for the outdoors person.

This is such a surprising location for a store like this, but I was pleased with their wide selection for both men and women — in clothing and in shoes. I love that they carry many of my favorite brands like Patagonia, Prana, The North Face, and Smartwool.
This type of store is geared toward those that like to have adventures — jackets, shirts, undergarments, socks, shoes, etc. that will be perfect for exploring outside, no matter what the weather. Yes, many of the coats in stock right now would probably be overkill for Florida, but perfect for a cold weather destination vacation.
Don’t miss the sale rack at the back of the store — many of these brands are pretty expensive, but good deals can be had if they are on sale. If you get on their mailing list, they will shoot you a line when they are offering specials.
The cashier was friendly, the store was clean and organized, and the one dressing room was roomy. Parking can be a pain since they share the spaces with Panera Bread, but they do seem to have a quick turnover. Definitely worth a visit!

Real nice and friendly

This review is long overdue as I have been shopping at this store for years and absolutely love the service and variety of clothing & gear they sell.
It is so great to finally have an outfitter in Tampa who can provide not only top notch clothing & gear but knowledgeable advise on all the items they carry. No more long drives to Bill Jackson’s or taking chances on mail order items.
Don’t forget to check out the sales rack where i have often found some wonderful buys. But even if you don’t find it on sale, their prices are reasonable for the quality of merchandise they carry.
This store is the first place I check out when an adventure trip is on my travel schedule.

I wasn’t super psyched on going here, but there is still a good amount of outdoorsy/​fishing gear here. Not my type of clothing, but a pretty good store for the guy or girl who likes to hike/​fish, etc., which is why I am giving this place 4 stars!

Tampa Bay Outfitters carries an excellent selection of outdoor clothing, travel gear. and backpacking equipment. The guys that work at the store are super friendly and knowledgable.
Check out the clearance rack for some amazing deals. I found a fleece North Face jacket for under $ 50!!!
Parking is a little limited since they share a parking lot with Panera Bread. There is addtional parking behind 717.

This is a great store to have in our area considering there is nothing even remotely close to it with the exception of maybe adventure outfitters. They carry patagonia, marmot, north face, etc. They have camping gear, mountaineering, surf, and hiking boots and shoes. The space is not huge but they maximize it. The prices are high but I guess that goes with the brand. They do have a great sales rack in the back which you can occasionally find some treasure on. Good spot overall
