History

Established in 1986.

Shear Art Salon & Spa has been servicing the hair and skincare needs of Tampa’s finest since 1986. Joanne Powers, Shear Art’s owner, opened Shear Art at the Village Corners. After spending 11 years in the heart of Carrollwood Village, Shear Art moved to the Village Center in order to accommodate its booming client base. At present, Shear Art provides services for over 15,000 Tampa Bay residents.

Shear Art features the finest hair designers, nail and skincare technicians, hair replacement and extension specialists. Shear Art’s designers have been featured in five international magazines and 2 national television shows since 2002.

In addition to being a community business, Shear Art hosts an annual cut-​a-​thon to benefit local charities. To date, Shear Art has raised over $ 100,000 for local charities.

Joanne Powers, President of Shear Art Salon and Spa selected as a spokesperson for Redken 5th Avenue NYC’s Shades EQ campaign.

Powers participated in a New York based photo shoot and video recording session for the launch of Shades EQ’s 20th anniversary. In addition, she served as a featured speaker in New York City on Thursday, March 20, 2008 for a promotional event.

As a salon owner, Powers’ career is centered-​around making the Tampa community beautiful. Powers has spent over 30 years growing generations of cosmetologists and this honor is indicative of her dedication to the beauty industry.

Shear Art Salon and Spa opened on April 15, 1986 with 450 square feet in the heart of Carrollwood Village. Twenty two years, six expansions, and 5,000 square feet later, Shear Art is a fixture in the Carrollwood community.
