History

Established in 2004.

In the summer of 2004, the Meridian Hookah Lounge opened its first location near the University of South Florida, in Tampa, FL. At the time, hookahs were still very much a foreign concept and convincing people to give it a try was no easy feat. Armed with five measly flavors, but a bold, new idea in hookah, it didn’t take long for the Meridian to win over fans.

After more than three years of refining our concept, in December 2007, we opened our second location near the University of Central Florida, in Orlando, FL.

The Meridian’s story isn’t complete, however, without also recognizing the countless people who’ve helped make it a success. Together we’ve achieved uncommon results because we all share some things in common: our love for the Meridian and a belief in its ability to do a world of good.

From the marriages sparked, troubled minds quieted, friendships set in motion, and everything imaginable in between, the Meridian continues to make its mark as a world-​class hookah lounge.

Meridian is a very conversational environment with a comfortable atmosphere. The music that is played is chosen by whoever is hosting that night and therefore there isn’t a lot of different genres being played (No one wants to listen to musical theater for 3 hours) but they do take requests. The flavor combinations they have are impeccable and the flat rate fee is a little high but well worth it. The servers are always down to have a conversation or to recommend a flavor which is always nice.

I love this place! Coming from Ft Myers, I’m used to hookah lounges that are more like mini clubs, but this was a nice change. They have nice, relaxed nights when it’s a great place to take a couple friends and relax or maybe study for school, and they have nights with Djs or other entertainment that spices it up a little. Their prices are reasonable, and they have a student discount, as well. They have a large number of sitting areas for you to choose from, and normally I end up sitting w a new group of people every time I go; everyone’s very friendly. The only problem I’ve ever had is some of the waiters (I guess is what you’d call them?) not knowing how to correctly pack a hookah, so it smokes too harsh or not enough.

I enjoyed this place went on a little date and it was so much fun I like that it’s very chill and a conversational environment. The shisha they offered was so good!!! & very reasonably price. The servers were so nice and accommodating.

I am a frequent visitor of this place. They have a multitude of hookah flavors, and I enjoy the chill atmosphere, and music. I often come here with a few of my work friends when our shifts are over since it’s nearby. I even had my 23rd birthday here. The employees are very nice, and have always been very friendly to me. There have only been a few times, in the multiple times I have been, that I was annoyed with the service I received. Sometimes if they sit you in the back I feel like they forget to check on you. the lady helping us kept saying she’d be back to check on us, and didn’t come back for at least twenty minutes, at that point I just got up and mentioned to the hostess up front that we needed a new bowl, and she alerted the lady. Other than that I usually never have problems with them checking up on me.
Definitely recommended for a cool & chill place to hang out with a group of your friends.

The meridian lounge is the first place I ever tried hookah, shortly after turning 18. I’m 22 now, although they’ve changed it quite a bit, I still love it. One change is they raised the flat fee of ten dollars to twelve. But, it IS a flat rate and entitles you to unlimited hookah. A lot of establishments have you pay per hookah, which can get pricey. Its such a laid back hangout place. Its kind of on the dark side, but I like it. They also have a stage for musical performances, which I unfortunately haven’t seen yet. I knocked them down one star because they took away my favorite couches! Although old and worn, they were the sink-​into type of couches, in my opinion they kind of made the place. The new ones are stiff. The menu of flavors is ever growing, and anyone can find a combo they’ll enjoy. Love the staff, hookah, one of my all time favorite hangout places.

I love meridian hookah lounge! It’s the best place to smoke hookah! $ 12 for unlimited hookah from 8−3am, it’s awesome. Friday night is black light night and Saturday night is open jam. Anyone can play or sign up on stage, it’s a blast.

This is the first hookah lounge that I’ve tried in Tampa, and I really enjoy going to this place. It’s VERY reasonably priced (especially compared to the places that I regularly go to in the Chicagoland area). Plus they have a student discount because it’s in USF Bulls Country. But the best part is the fact that it’s a shisha buffet, so you get unlimited flavors and can change them every half an hour if you so choose. It’s a medium sized space but it doesn’t feel cramped. They aren’t stingy about the amount of hookahs they bring to your group and the staff is friendly enough. There is also live local music if you’re into that.

I’m kind of partial to this place because this is where I had my first hookah and fell in love with shisha. I have since moved out of the city and have visited a couple times when I am around.
I love the chalkboard walls. I love the cover charger for unlimited hookahs! I love the friendly people that always start up conversations over the most random things. This place is very hip and modern when it comes to hookah, but you aren’t going to find a lot of people in their mid to late 20s as I have seen everywhere else. Decent music.
