History
Established in 2009.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion, Professor Marcio Cruz, chose Tampa to open his first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school. Open since 2009, Marcio Cruz BJJ school, has seen hundreds of students enjoy the benefits that martial arts training bring them. From children to elders, from house-wives to law enforcement, we welcome everyone who wants to change their lives.
Our instructors
Instructor Alonso Moreno was born in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Coach Alonso is a two stripe purple belt under professor Marcio Cruz. Alonso Moreno has been training Brazilian Jiu-jitsu since June 2009 and is an instructor at Marcio Cruz BJJ Academy.
Born in Chicago, IL, Craig Grams explored many martial arts. He began training in wrestling at age 12. Grappling always seemed natural for him. In 2005, Instructor Craig found a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu gym with professional and amateur fighters from the area.

Professor Marcio Cruz is the head instructor of Marcio Cruz Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Marcio «Pe de Pano» Cruz is a third degree black belt who studied under Master Carlos Gracie Jr., founder of Gracie Barra. Professor Marcio is considered one of the best Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighters of all times.
Marcio Cruz was one of the biggest stars of the Gracie Barra Academy in the early 2000’s. Professor Marcio conquered numerous titles, including some of his biggest achievements: two open weight black belt world championship titles in 2002 and 2003.
Professor Marcio Cruz is a six-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Champion, five-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu National Champion, eight-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan-American Champion and 2003 ADCC World Champion. People he has defeated numerous opponents including Ricco Rodriguez, Mike Van Arsdale, Roger Gracie, Gabriel Gonzaga, Paulo Filho, Fabricio Werdum, Xande Ribeiro, Marcelo Garcia, Saulo Ribeiro, Fernando Augusto, Jeff Monson, Fernado «Margarida» Pontes
