It’s cool and all that those of us with base privileges can get some good deals and shop tax free within the nearby stores. However, the commissary in particular makes up the difference for that with«service charges» added on to your bill. I’ve never found a good grocery bargain here that rivals any other local grocery competitor and therefore I don’t go out of my way to shop at the commissary.

As far as commissaries go, this one isn’t bad. It is pretty big and has lots of stuff inside. The produce section has a decent selection and variety of items which are most always fresh(a few exceptions exist). The deli makes sandwiches and slices a good selection of meats and cheeses. There is even a side door where you can come in for lunch and buy said sandwiches. They cook and sell rotisserie chickens, which smell amazing and will tease you the entire time you’re in here. Though I haven’t bought anything, I love their seafood counter, as there is always a decent variety of fresh and frozen fish and seafood. There is a live lobster tank, which is occupied sometimes. Lots of cashiers to include express, priority, self check, and regular. I’ve been several times during the day and the earlier morning hours in my opinion are the best. Not as crowded with people acting/moving as if they’re the only ones shopping there. As is usually the case, the prices are better than off Base stores in the area. Not a bad place to shop if you have access.
