First Discoveries provides a variety of high quality early learning programs for young children and their families:

* Preschool classes with low adult-​child ratios so children get the individualized care they need

* Research-​based curriculum to ensure that children are prepared to be successful in elementary school

* Half-​day and full-​day schedules, to accommodate the needs of South Tampa families

* Exciting summer camp with special events and field trips

* Afterschool programs featuring outside play, nutritious snacks, homework assistance and special activities

History

Established in 2008.

In 2008, First Discoveries opened a Child Development Center in South Tampa, located at Bel Mar Presbyterian Church. Founded by Ms. Cindy, the program focused on providing high quality early learning programs for young children and their families. Initially serving just seven children for a summer camp program, the child development center expanded three times in its first 18 months of operation and is now licensed for 90 children. Working closely with the Early Learning Coalition, First Discoveries earned a four-​star designation in 2014, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality programs for children. In 2015, First Discoveries expanded to include a sister site in Brandon, Florida. Both sites offer preschool, child care and after-​school programs, as well as amazing summer camp programs.

Business Owner

While completing her undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida, Ms. Cindy walked into a local preschool looking for a summer job and walked away with her true calling, to impact the lives of children and families through high quality early learning programs that focus on child-​centered practices. She earned her Masters degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of South Florida, and she has a State of Florida Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education and Exceptional Student Education. In 2002, she earned the prestigious honor of National Board Certification in Early Childhood. Ms. Cindy has taught preschool, kindergarten and first grade at private and public schools in Hillsborough County. In 2008, she founded First Discoveries Child Development Center in South Tampa, and today she continues to touch the lives of children and families every day!
