Violet Nails Salon & Spa

I called and made an appointment for 5 p.m. on a Wednesday so that I could go there after I got off work. The only reason I had to wait is because I was a little early. Ellie took excellent care of me. She had a lot of work to do, as my previous acrylic nail tips were poorly done. She made me feel comfortable. She gave me exactly what I asked for. She made me feel special, and that she was glad I was there. I will never go to anybody else for my nails as long as Ellie is in town.
Eventually I may even be brave enough to get a pedicure. My feet are in horrible condition.

I went on a day that was not even busy and had to wait over 30 minutes for a mani. I ended up leaving because I did not want to pay for another hour of parking. The new renovations don’t make sense either. They expanded the salon, leaving one side an empty pedi station with the reception desk, the center is an empty mani station that resembles a kitchen, and another empty pedi station on the other side… this was all separated by walls too. It made the entire salon feel incomplete and a bit creepy. I also asked a tech for a bottle of water, which she never brought me.

I have been to Violet Nails several times and have never been disappointed with the service I received. Even though I have moved across town and attempted to find a nail salon that was not chalked full with FSU students, I still come back to Violet Nails cause I have not found a better place. Today, I had exceptional service for a gel manicure which is reasonable priced ($ 28). I was slightly concerned because the shop was renovating and everything was kind of disorganized and messy visually, but the service was still just as great. Do not expect a complimentary drink at this salon, and you may have to wait for a bit, but the important part (the nails) is consistently great.

Ive been frequenting Violet Nails for all of my mani pedi needs for some time now. Ive always had a good experience. Clean, professional, friendly staff with great results. However today I went in for a pedicure and noticed a lot of new staff. I still went for it. I was disappointed to walk out after spending $ 30 on a pedicure (including tip) that felt rushed (even though they were not packed). Bottom line, the nail stylist who was assigned to me did not remove all the dead skin from around the nails and did a poor job on the paint job. I was reading during the pedicure and did not notice until I got home and my nails almost immediately started chipping that she failed to use a top coat. I could have done a better job myself and pocketed the money. THey will not get my business again.

This place was great and so close to campus. They have a huge variety of colors to choose from, all great brands (Essie, OPI, etc.). My pedicurist noticed a brown spot in my toe nail and asked if it was a bruise. I said maybe and she tended to it carefully. It ended up being dirt and she easily cleaned it. She was very careful and used a great salt scrub that made my feet and legs feel so smooth. She showed me a tray of lotions to choose from. Very nice and my toes came out looking great!

This was the best pedicure I have received in years… I needed a nail salon within walking distance of my hotel. Unilocal stated that Violet’s was a 10 minute walk away. Fingers crossed. I arrived and was quickly seated. I asked to be reseated because I was one of three pedicure clients in a very small area. There were several chairs open and my request to be reseated was honored. (The shop does present as having one too many chairs/​stations-​sometimes less is more-​but I digress)
The services were impeccable! The nail technician identities problem areas for me and provided extra care to those areas. After a thorough scrubbing session, she offered a tray of scented lotions to me. I selected a lavender based lotion (stress reliever). And closed my eyes as she scrub my legs with a sea salt based scrub followed by a lavender scented leg massage. I was scrubbed and moisturizer! I actually was very happy at this point.
A second technician emerged to begin my manicure. She was young and vibrant. Listened to my color palette request and selected a color for me. Another young and vibrant technician completed my pedicure by gently filing my toe nails and GENTLY cutting my cuticles. She provided a perfect polishing of my toenails. I love to see young people perfecting their craft!
These are my only issues:
— I was not offered a drink
— NONE of these amazing technicians introduced themselves to me. They are all talented in their craft but remain nameless. A brief greeting followed by «I am _​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​_​and I will be providing your nail services for today will elevate this experience and add tip dollars to your pocket. (Trust and believe)
— There are too many chairs and stations in this shop. the salon presents as cluttered and unorganized when I can’t properly get to the drying station or when the side table of my pedicure chair will not open because it’s too close to the neighboring chair.
Bottom line: I will definitely return to Violet’s during my next Tally visit. Go get your feet beat.

This place is very unprofessional. On top of that the parking is horrible. So I walk in as a new customer and every is looking blindsided. So I proceeded to park my car and come back in. I wanted a pedicure which I was lost on who was who. A young lady come over and fill the bowl with COLD WATER without CHEMICALS. Mind you the bowl had old skin from the previous person… I politely asked to be excused. Never go there it’s not the best.

I enjoyed my first experience at the nail salon prior to renovations. My experience ever since has been okay. My nails always look great. But the close quarters until the renovations are done can drive you crazy. It’s tight. The owners or the people I think are the owners are very bossy and rude when they speak to some of their staff. I shouldn’t want to take up for your staff member every time I visit because I don’t like how you talk to them. Why are you asking the nail tech when she is going to be done with my nails, when there isn’t anyone in the shop that needs a fill? You just want to be nasty.
Recently my sister went to visit, just last week. She parked, got her ticket in the parking garage and got her nails done. She told me a staff member went to the car for her and got her a new ticket during her visit. When she left, the car had been towed. Why? The parking spots we usually parked in are now for residents only. Why didn’t a staff member say anything? We are patronizing your business and the parking changes over the holidays and you don’t tell your customers?! So that $ 105 we paid to get my car back was the last straw. I’m going to miss my regular nail tech, but her co workers and the parking associated with the business changed everything for me. I’m will not return.

First time coming to Violet. The prices are pretty reasonable and the location in College Town is great. With all the nail bars in town, it’s a little surprising that they don’t serve drinks. Nice atmosphere, clean place.

This is a GREAT nail salon. The nail techs are professional, patient, kind, and doting. I received an eye brow wax, pedicure, and an acrylic full set nails for $ 70 in total. I give them 3 stars for the following 2 reasons:
(1) Nail tech did not inform me up front that receiving «coffin» style nails was extra
(2) The acrylic did not fully cover one of my nails
I’m new to Tally and this was my first stab at finding a nail salon that I can visit on a regular basis. Despite these issues, Violet has full recommendation.
The next nail salon I plan to try is Belleza. Look out for my review of that place in a couple of weeks!

Did a pretty good job on my nails. Only downside was the language barrier made it harder to communicate what I wanted. But other than that, the salon was clean and I would definitely go back. I got a polish change for only $ 6 and a pedicure for $ 25! That was definitely the way to go since I usually chip my nails way faster!

Wonderful customer service! I came in for a polish change and was seated right away. Didn’t take 15 minutes and at a great price, $ 9!

Love this place. Pedicures are always so relaxing and thorough. Staff is kind and know what they’re doing.

I’ve come here a few times and each time I got a different nail tech. They all did a good job with with mani and pedis. There’s a great color selection at the salon especially the gel options. I didn’t give it 5 stars because the techs can be unprofessional and pushy with upselling.

If I could give this salon 0/​5, I most certainly would. This past weekend, I had a wedding to attend and didn’t want to have to deal with touching up my nails so I decided to get a gel manicure at this salon, since it was on my way home from work and had plenty of openings. The manicure itself lasted about 20 minutes in total. Some would say this to be a good thing, since you’re in and out quicker but as a service and as a treat, I would have preferred it if my girl had taken her time and really pampered me. She didn’t ask about any allergies or preference when choosing which lotion to apply and filed my nails back and forth instead of filing in one single direction LIKE THEY ARE TAUGHT (Filing back and forth weakens the nails). The color selection was average, and they didn’t differentiate between gel and shellac, and when I asked for shellac (when applying shellac, the nail beds are not roughed up so your nails stay healthier and stronger than with gel) I was given gel, and no other choice. This isn’t my first experience with gel, and every single gel manicure I’ve had before has stayed on for a minimum of two weeks. Before the first week, my middle finger nail on my right hand broke so I had to file it down, and today marks the week and one day point and I have 1) discoloration (the color is uneven and streaky) 2) chips and tears 3) signs of cracking in the polish. I would have expected this with a normal nail polish manicure, but NOT a gel. I am livid. I will most certainly NOT EVER be coming back to this salon, and will take my business elsewhere.

Best Nail place in Tallahassee worth the wait! Also a great place to get your eyebrows waxed with Katie the owner. Family owned and operated!

I have been going to violet nails since they first opened and I keep coming back. When I was first there they were a smaller operation with less chairs and less employees. Honestly the service was a bit better than. I have just figured out when to go and when not to go. The best time: when they first open at 10am.
I never get fake nails put on and I LOVED that they did not even offer the service for the majority of the first two years they were open. It kept the environment dust free, smell free, and it kept people cycling through. Getting tips or a fullset takes a long time and they do not have the space for it.
They have a ton of different colors, almost too many for me. I wish they had some more traditional colors. I do not wear blues or purples. Their gel nail polish manicure is a great value at 20 dollars and you don’t have to pay extra for taking off the previous gel polish if you get the manicure. They do a great french nail with the gel as well.
Their basic pedicures are 25 dollars and include a scrub, massage, and hot towels. Their chairs are comfortable. They used to give out buy 10 pedicure get one free cards of which I cycled through two. Not anymore now that word is out on this place.
I also get my eyebrows done occasionally and they really make them look natural. Just cleaning up my look. The price is right, 8 dollars.
They have nail polish that will match the gel polish so if you don’t want gel on your toes (and why would you?) then you can still match without having to guess. I LOVE this. Particularly during football season when I keep my nails garnet colored.
My gel polish lasts a solid two weeks sometimes three. I have found out that only getting a polish change the gel does not last as long. Maybe because the cuticle and other things the manicure take care of. I am not sure but the price difference means everything is cleaned up and a massage. Worth two dollars for me :)
They had to hunt around for unscented lotion but they do have it. I cannot use scented on my hands. The only thing I would say is make an unscented lotion to those who don’t like anything else or cannot tolerate it on sensitive skin.
So many places in town do the same job (or worse) for a higher price. It might be by the campus but I am glad I don’t have to drive to midtown for my nails. It is clean and comfortable at Violet nails. They have my business for the foreseeable future.

Would not go again. Rude and inattentive workers. gel manicure chipped after 1 day. They Would not honor Unilocal coupon and didn’t take American Express card.

Here is today’s update. I’m honestly impressed no one has reached out to me since it’s very clear, by my picture how poorly my nails were done. I went into this salon ¹¹⁄₁₃ a week later today 8 of my nails are lifting from the barely filed base. The only nails still doing well are my pinkies and thumbs. So I got 1 week out of nails that should last 2 – 3 easily! Don’t waist your money I cannot stress this. Now I’m paying three times the amount to fix it. Yay.

I was visiting Tallahassee and needed a manicure. This salon got good Unilocal reviews so I gave it a try.
There was a bit of a wait (the shop is small-​ish) but it wasn’t a long wait. They have a very large non-​gel polish selection and all the instruments and stations are very clean.
The nail tech was good and gave me a very pretty manicure. I thought the price was reasonable ($ 15 for a regular manicure). I would have given 5 stars if, like most places, a hand massage was included.

Simply, my favourite nail place in Tallahassee. If you go, be prepared to be there for a while– there are only three technicians, but they are wonderful and so nice! I came in for the first time on my birthday and halfway through my pedicure, they brought out cupcakes and champagne for my friends, and sang happy birthday to us! They have spectacular specials if you like them on Facebook, and their prices are very reasonable. Their pedicures last forever– I’m on week three on mine and I still don’t have a single chip! I even trimmed down my nails last week and the polish stayed perfect on the rest of the nail. The sisters are so sweet and they remember all of their regular customers. I’m so excited for the construction on Gaines to end, because they deserve more traffic!
