History

Established in 1999.

In Step Studio was a way to formalize a series of dance classes that had been taking place at the local YMCA’s and other public practice spaces in Tallahassee since 1994. A commercial storefront studio enabled In Step Studio to offer more and varied dance instruction to students interested in trying out the different forms of ethnic dance that were not available at traditional studios. This also enabled In Step Studio to establish two performing groups with Troupe Arabesque for Middle Eastern dance and the Mau ‘oli ‘oli for Polynesian dance performances.
