Attorney General State of FL

For those moving to FL from the East Coast where the office of State Attorney General is both a powerful office and consumer’s friend, I expect you will be disappointed in FL. If you experience problems stemming from a unresponsive contractor to a service industry repair or even identity theft, be prepared to go it on your own. You are likely to get more support from a local TV station, assuming they have a consumer complaint reporter, then you will receive from the State of Florida. It seems to me this is a con artists paradise as there appears to be little legal protection from scammers. After I had my identity stolen, the response from the Attorney General’s office was basically not our problem. Fortunately the sheriff’s office in my county was helpful but I still had to tote 95 percent of the responsibility in getting the problem resolved. I’m a CT guy for most of my life and accustomed to a strong Attorney General: not the case here.
