Fine for an overnight, probably would not do more than that. Staff was fine, no complaints there. Continental breakfast does not start until 8am on Sunday and the office is locked until then. That was the weirdest thing, we wanted to get out and hit the slopes early. You would not be missing anything if you skipped the breakfast even though it is included or was for our rate on Orbitz. The coffee is old school gas station style, as in you can see through to the bottom of your styrofoam cup…

I get the 48 hour cancellation policy. It’s how you fleece people for money. But…
…we couldn’t get over the mountain to stay here. They were completely unwilling to even consider an exception. A seemingly small business run like a faceless corporation.
I’m sure that 48 hour policy only exists because they know how variable mountain conditions are, so if you can’t make it, who gives a fuck. More money for them.
Don’t stay here. They don’t give a shit about anything but your money.

This place is horrible! I book this online solely cus it was 3 star and for the wifi cus i need it and boy i was wrong. You CANNOT get wifi in your room! The wifi is only at the lobby. this is BS. $ 229 for a room and no wifi. crap. and How in the hell this place got a 3 star!!! FALSE. Wish i can give a zero star! looks like they were were painting it and never finished. The walls are dirty, the carpet is dirty (better have flip flops for walking in your room and show! This hotel reminds me staying at a shaddy hotel in tijuana back in my college days. I’ll never stay here again. I was better off sleeping in my car. I should of went to Reno. Tahoe Sucks!!!

No. Just no. For the price no way. This should be more like Motel 6 prices. To start, the carpet, ew, I don’t even want to know, water damage on the ceiling, mildew all around the tub and in the shower, weird duct taped microwave stand and soft spot on the floor in the room (I admit, I was a little afraid of falling to the room below). And OMG, the «Death stairs!» That’s what we called them. Or maybe «lawsuit waiting to happen.» Huge ice slick at the top of the stairs. I mean, get some salt and throw it down. 3 towels for a room for 4? only 2 pillows on each bed… the «manager party» in the weird side room when we arrived… the list could go on and on. This place just needs some TLC. I felt sorry for it. Sad little hotel.

The hotel is a bit old and dated, parking can be very limited in the front. For the price we paid, it was reasonable for what we got.
We were visiting the Squaw/​Alpine Meadows ski resorts and when we planned the trip, I was looking specifically for a hotel with hot tubs. and that was exactly what we got! The rooms are definitely a bit funky! The bathroom only has the toilet, the sink is next to the bathroom, and there’s a heart shaped soaking tub in the room right next to the bed. Well, there’s a half glass separation and a shower curtain. There’s a very large mirror next to the hot tub AND a very large mirror in front of the bed. Hmmmmm, exactly what do they think we are doing in the room??? I’m trying to keep this PG13, but it’s really rated R for adult content and behaviors. haha. In addition to all this, the blinds in our room didn’t really close, so I was a bit stressed about having pervs look through our window.
The bed is fairly comfortable, the sheets are a bit dated but clean. The heater worked well and kept us warm all night. There is a very small complimentary breakfast in the morning which includes waffles, muffins, oatmeal and cereal. The hot water was very limited and I had to ask several times as they kept running out. The breakfast room is also super small & we had to stand b/​c there were no seats available.
The staff were nice and the stay was decent. The location is really good, right next to grocery store, and several restaurants and bars so we could walk to dinner and get drinks. Convenience is important.

Decent hotel for the price. Had a heart shaped jacuzzi tub which was nice. Smelled like mildew, but not strong, it was tolerable. Nice continental breakfast.

Worst customer service ever. When confronted with mistakes made by their front desk/​reservation staff. The will change documented event to try and charge you for their mistakes. Poorly run. No wonder they only get 2,5 stars on average.

Totally gross hotel, would never stay here again! Price was the only thing great, but once again you get what you pay for.
Cons: ** Website states, free movies… hmm, how do we get free movies on our rooms since there are only 7 – 12 channels available on the TV. Checked with the front desk and yes they have great movies (VHS) that are available only to the «family room» sweet, can’t even watch movies in your room you have to go to this random room at the front desk to view them, and just hope it’s not already occupied!
** No screen on windows, rooms get stuffy and all you get is a standing floor fan. Lacks blackout shades too
** Booked a room for 4 people and we were stocked with 3 towels and pillows. Asked the front desk for more, «sorry I don’t have anymore pillows… really!!!
** Nasty cigarette butts just tossed on the staircase up to our room… does anyone clean here
* Beware that this hotel sit on the Main Street and parking lots surround the entire hotel, so if you don’t have the shitty floor far or AC going you constantly here the traffic noises, and God forbid you leave your windows open for some fresh air… constant noise! Not sure if there is an ideal room to have (our was of course was 1 away from the street)
** No hot tub or pool, but not sure if I would use it anyways do to the cleanliness of this place
** taking a shower is ridiculous, hope you like lukewarm water or better yet in the morning there is no warm water, what a joke!!!

Good location and convenient to everything, Luke warm to cold showers! Continental Breakfast was wipe out by the time we got to it.

As far as inns/​motels go, yeah, TCI is definitely above-​average. The front desk staff was friendly and allowed me to check in hours early for no charge. My room was clean and comfortable. It had a mini fridge and a microwave. The bed was really comfy and the heater worked very well. Yes, it had the outdated tube TV and a VCR, but, really, are you there to hang out and watch TV and a movie? Location right on the main drag can’t be beat!
I only crashed for one night and didn’t utilize the shower or heart-​shaped tub, so I can’t speak for that. It *was* a tad odd that the tub/​shower was right in the middle of the room. I was flying solo, and I didn’t even use it, so it didn’t matter. It was only a one bed room anyway, but if it was a group of friends, it might be a tad odd to shower/​bathe in the middle of the room.

This is pretty random, but the sheets were so freaking soft and amazing. It was seriously the best sleep of my life. Also worth noting is the towels were large and fluffy. This place has very high quality linens.

If you go to Tahoe city don’t stay here or make a reservation. I made a reservation here through
with understanding that if I had to cancel I would be charged one night. I indeed did have to cancel. After a lengthy conversation on the phone, it was understood I would be charged for one night. Well, fast forward to monday I still had the full charge on my account. They never processed the cancellation and put me as a no show. So I was charged the full reservation because. The desk person should have told me to confirm the cancellation with
, lame. America’s Best is better anyway.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times while skiing. The savings are not worth how poorly this property is kept. The carpet is stained and torn. The towels were rough and threadbare and very small. Lights didn’t work. More snow on the tele than outside. Wireless didn’t work. Heart Shaped Jacuzzi circa 1977 in the middle of the room; doubling as a shower which makes one feel like being exhibition while trying to just shower. The rooms are noisy as the construction probably lacked sufficient soundproofing. The staff are clipped, aloof and borderline rude. I repeatedly tried to say hello to the owner one morning as she was walking her dogs, and she ignored me. Ironically, this hotel is not pet friendly… and from my perspective, not guest friendly either. Avoid.

Check-​in/​Day 1:
The front desk staff and the owner are friendly and helpful. The room (#6) was clean, and I like the wood ceiling. The bath towels are quite small (about 4x the size of a hand towel) and the hand towels were a bit rough on my winter-​dry hands.
I wish the heart-​shaped tub was deep enough to really have a soak – it’s about the same depth to the overflow as a standard bathtub. The shower over it had good pressure, although the curtain doesn’t go all the way around leaving you a bit chilly during your shower. The water heats up very nicely, though.
When we were checking in the owner mentioned that she’s remodeling, so hopefully she’ll be able to include some things like deeper tubs, closed showers, and larger bath towels.
Day 2:
So tired! Paper-​thin walls. Uncomfortable bed that moves a ton with every movement you make. Pillows that are too flat on their own but are too thick to use two. Construction sounds early in the morning. Toilet doesn’t flush properly.
Day 3/​Check-​out:
A little less tired – I think things were more quiet last night. Still awakened by noise outside the room early in the morning. Check-​out was a breeze and the girl at the desk was very nice.
Overall:
I would probably stay here again, but after the renovations.

Old school motel, but good for the price in North Lake. You don’t stay in Northlake to hang out at the hotel. It is walking distance to the beach, park, supermarket, and restaurants. The Jacuzzi tub was an awesome treat!

I have mixed reviews for this hotel based on three different rooms. We stayed at this hotel due to blocked rooms for a wedding.
1. My mom stayed in room #15 on the second floor. It had two queen beds and was very old with terrible sheets. The first thing she did was check for bed bugs! The shower had a leak that dripped the entire night. There was no counter space near the sink. The towels are paper thin. The outlets wouldn’t hold a plug. No hairdryer. There were bug traps on the ceiling. The deadbolt locked us into the room, and when requesting assistance– the hotel employee just stood outside of our door without attempting to help. This room alone would get no stars.
2. My brother and his fiancé had the heart shape tub room #5 on the first floor. This room looked about the same era as my mom’s room, but slightly better (though there was open electricity on the wall behind the door). The heart shape tub was amusing, but it doubles as a shower and has about half a curtain– causing the entire room to fog up. If one person is taking a shower, the other needs to be very careful about opening the door or window!
3. My boyfriend and I stayed in room #1 on the first floor. This was one of the newly renovated queen rooms, and it was MUCH MUCH better! When you entered, you could still smell the new-​ness. There were hardwood floors, granite sink countertops, and nice plush beds! This was the only saving grace of the hotel, we were very lucky to snatch that room! They say they’re slowly renovating the other rooms, but so far there are only three new ones.
Otherwise, the hotel staff is generally nice (except for the guy who stood uselessly outside of our locked door). There is a continental breakfast which isn’t anything fancy (bagels, cereal, toast, hard boiled egg, OJ, milk, coffee– if you’re there early you may get some of the waffle mix). Moral of the story: pay the extra money for the newly renovated room or find another hotel!

Not a bad place if you’re looking to save money. Definitely dated but that’s what makes it fun!

Brought our own sheets and checked for bed bugs. Looked clean didn’t use our sheets but thought it was funny there was no fitted sheet on the bed.
They offer VHS tapes to watch but you can’t watch them in your room due to no VCR but you can watch them in the «family room» next to the lobby which was kinda cool.
We had the heart shaped jacuzzi shower tub in our room too bad water doesn’t stay hot enough to thoroughly enjoy.
They state they offer hair dryers by asking the front desk and when I did they stated it was in your room– uhm no it’s not and why state ask the front desk when clearly you don’t have them!
Complimentary breakfast was ok. I was surprised they had batter to make your own waffles which I enjoyed.
Interesting place, if needed to be in the area again and looking for a place to crash and save money. I would come back. We were participating in Tough Mudder at Northstar so this motel was convenient.

HORRIBLE PLACE!!! Smells, bed bugs, dirty! Do yourself a favor and do not even think about booking! In the middle of the night there was a drunk guy banging on doors and when I spoke to the front desk in the morning they said they knew about it but always give there rowdy guests 3 warnings before calling the police!!!
After all the grief we went through they ended up charging me TWICE and said «have your bank deal with it»
Run away from this hell-​hole!

I hate writing negative reviews, so I’ll preface this by saying that this review is ONLY for ROOM 33 and that I did notify the front desk about the room’s defaults so hopefully they will make the necessary changes (though the lady at the front seemed disinterested in my complaints).
— The blinds don’t close all the way! At night, you can see inside from the sidewalk. I’d like to think I pay for privacy when I pay $ 140 for a hotel room…
— The carpet is absolutely filthy. Carpets will understandably get dirty faster in a snowy place, but the carpet here looks so old and dirty I took my socks off once and regretted it. (see Photo)
— The bathroom had all sorts of problems. 1) The main concern was the mildewed shower head (see Photo). GROSS! 2) The painted tiles in the shower are peeling to reveal 2 different color tiles. I think it’s time for a retiling. 3) The toilet paper roll was almost done when we first got there. 4) Lots of dust on and around the toilet. Who cleans at this Inn? I hate cleaning bathrooms too, but I pay for you to do this!
— Odd lamps. Light bulbs without any kind of cover. (see Photo) Bedside lamps that only work with the light switch by the door.
— Continental breakfast was decent (see PROS below) but the front desk lady was very unpleasant. When we informed her that the coffee was out, she annoyedly said, «AGAIN?!» We could only respond with an «I guess so,» as we obviously didn’t just down 5 cups of coffee! Bad service irks me like nothing else. You work in hospitality! Not hostility! If you don’t want to serve me coffee, stop offering it! Lady also seemed annoyed that we wanted more than one banana to share amongst the three of us. If you can, maybe refrain from bothering her and scrounge around in the cupboards for anything you may need to ask her for. She’d probably appreciate being left alone.
— Top fifth of the TV screen in the room was distorted. Though, with only 6 channels to choose from, you probably won’t really care.
— Bring your own towel if you stay here. Their towels are paper thin and sandpaper rough. Good for exfoliation, as one of my friends put it.
Despite all my grumbling, there were some pros!
PROS:
— Hot shower
— Mini fridge and microwave
— No bed bugs (though… hotel guests should be able to expect this)
— Bed was surprisingly comfortable
— A mounted bottle opener in the bathroom (odd, but you never know when you’ll need one!)
— Proximity to restaurants and shops (lots within 5 min walking)
— Continental breakfast (bagels, cream cheese, cereal – Frosted Flakes + Cheerios, packaged muffins, oranges and bananas, instant oatmeal, coffee, tea) in a pretty, clean back room with large TV
— Fake fireplace heater (ooh, ambiance!)
Other info :
— Internet for $ 10 a day
— Free VHS rentals (I saw that they had SATC on top of all the VHS you’d expect, like Scarface, Liar Liar, and Fried Green Tomatoes)
— If you can, try to get a room on the ground floor. They looked nicer!
