I had an amazing prenatal massage with Julia last weekend and it was far superior than the other prenatal’s I’ve had. She has AMAZING technique and has clearly been practicing for many years. I would highly recommend her! The spa itself is very clean, peaceful and they offer many wonderful services.

I booked an appointment at what I thought was the Galibakken Resort location (not knowing the main location was in Tahoe City). After waiting for a few mins without seeing anyone I called and found out I was at the wrong location. Oops! The front desk was so courteous and accommodating. They sent someone to Galibakken right away in under 10 mins. They didn’t dock my massage time either which, to me, was worth the five stars alone. Not to mention my therapist Colleen did a hell of a job working out my
knots which were way passed due for some tlc. I fell asleep during the foot reflexology at the end :) Thank you Lighthouse for the great customer service and excellent massage.

Horrendous Experience!
My friend doesn’t have Unilocal.When I heard this, I needed to post to warn others.
My friend had an appointment with Christine, the massage therapist. Instead of focusing on my friend’s needs (as is customary for a massage and good customer service), Christine started by making several inappropriate requests which focused on her own needs. The therapist then attempted to charge my friend for time spent on the THERAPIST’S NEEDS (while she wasn’t doing any massage).
When my friend objected to being charged for non massage time, Christine started a rampage of personal attacks including making fun of why my friend came in to get a massage in the first place.
Christine the massage therapist was most likely having a bad day and wasn’t professional enough to leave her personal issues out of the office and decided it was okay to take it out on my friend (who simply wanted a good quality massage).

Called for two same day 60 minute massages for a friend and myself and was able to book both. When I got there they were able to accommodate my request to change to 90 minutes. The women at the front desk were friendly and helpful. My therapist, Julia, was awesome, good technique to address my needy areas.
My friend, who has some back issues, received a very customized gentle Swedish and cranio-​sacral massage. She was very happy with Brooke’s attentiveness and skill.
Lobby/​rooms were clean and serene. Plenty of parking, which is a big bonus in my book, but just remember to park down below behind the main Safeway building.

Had a GREAT experience at Lighthouse Spa during my latest Tahoe vacation.
Located in adorable Tahoe City, the spa truly combines the «spa» & «Tahoe» feeling together in one. The actual spa is a bit hidden, located on the 2^nd story in the back lot area facing the water.
I got a 60 min swedish massage by Brooke followed by a 30 min refresher facial by Amy. My massage by Brooke was absolutely heavenly. She asked me where my problem areas were & really worked on them. I also really appreciate how much pressure she used! Often times I feel like masseuses are afraid of using too much pressure, but Brooke was not & CLEARLY knew what she was doing the entire time. I pretty much floated out of the room after I was done with her because she was so great. My facial with Amy was equally as great. I appreciated how much restraint she used during my facial. She told me upfront after looking at my skin that it was in pretty good shape, and that she would only some work in certain areas.
An amazing experience & I will be back during my next vacation! I highly recommend visiting them for any spa needs that you may have in the Northern Tahoe area.

Booked a couples massage for my best friend and myself. My friend enjoyed her massage but mine was absolute agony. I have a high pain tolerance but I was constantly flinching and wishing for it to end.
Over 24 hours later and my lower back is still in a lot of pain from the ‘massage’.
Another weird thing was they never had us fill out a release form, nothing official at all.
Last disappointing part — the website said we would get chocolate truffles with our package. Even after I asked, no truffles!

Fantastic massage! My therapist was super nice and had great technique. Ahhh…

My daughter and I each had a massage and body wrap. It was the icing on the cake to our relaxing day. They were able to schedule us on the same day and one of the massage therapists extended her day to accommodate us. I highly recommend!

I took my daughter here to celebrate her graduation, and help her unwind from a stressful semester. The space is small, but clean and cozy with fabulous lake views! We had an hour and a half massage, and I cannot say enough positives about both of our ladies. I have been having some sciatica pain, and was able to get relief as well as instruction for helpful stretches. I do not have even one «helpful, but negative,» critique!
Lighthouse takes Spa Finder cards, and books with as little as one hours notice since their therapists are on-​call. Located upstairs, behind Safeway. No showers available.

So, I booked a massage and a facial here for my best friend’s birthday. The entire staff is amazing. From booking over the phone, to follow up calls, and even a call warning is about the parade and how it may delay us, they were amazing. When you are looking for the place, let me save you some time: it’s behind the Safeway above the gym.
Our massage was 50 minutes with Erica? I believe, and it was amazing. She did a lot of deep tissue work with light stretching, and it was perfect! She definitely can find your knots!
My facial was the 60 minute deluxe? with the girl with long blonde hair and super green eyes (I can’t remember her name). That facial was also AMAZING. I never fall asleep during spa visits, and I fell asleep. She is super soft handed, and the product smells great. It is the Dermalogica line that she uses. Either way, my best friend says it was the best facial she’s ever had.
I only have a couple suggestions:
–Offer more types of facials. I would have loved to add a microderm abrasion, or a peel, or something for a little extra.
–Hot tea would be nice also, as we are up in the Tahoe mountains.
–The waiting room and the entrance are connected pretty closely, and if I was shy, it might make me uncomfortable.
To be honest, it’s a small, super hidden place, and they have created a beautiful, relaxing spa with the space they have. This place could easily rake in the customers if they expanded in space and spa options a little.

I was in town for my first snowboarding adventure and remembered last minute I had a spafinder gift card. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, even after I made my appointment last minute and then changed it even more last minute! They honored my spa finder gift card no problem and the Unilocal check in offer as well (note: value is based off a Swedish massage).
The actual facility is clean, calming, pretty, and has a great view of the lake. There is no locker room, so like other spas in this area, you just get ready in your room per your therapist. The therapist was great and worked on exactly what I told her needed some help. I’ve miraculously come away from my first snowboarding weekend NOT SORE! I think greatly based on two nights in the hot tub and my hot stone massage :)

Searching for a spa for an upcoming vacation, I was between this place and Massage on the Lake. After speaking with the Lighthouse Spa, I decided to book because 1. They took Spa Finder gift cards, and 2. They had a Unilocal deal going on. It was going to be cheaper to go here. The woman on the phone put the Unilocal deal information in the notes section. So the day comes. My massage was fine, not spectacular, but not complain worthy. But when they charged me (I paid for myself and 3 other people), they didn’t apply the discount. With a waiting room full of family members, I decided to just call later rather than make an awkward situation. Today I called and the owner is issuing my «account» a credit for $ 44– the amount of the Unilocal discount. This is going to an account for a place in a city hours away from my house. So essentially, I get store credit to a city I’ll never be back to. There was no way for them to issue the credit back to my gift card (I paid with both cash and gift cards). Long story, but my advice is to head to Massage on the Lake. After reading the Unilocal reviews of both places, my gut was telling me to go there from the beginning.

My husband and I enjoyed a couples massage in a room with a gorgeous view of the lake. Both of us greatly enjoyed our massage service and won’t hesitate to come back on our next trip to Tahoe.

Took my girlfriend who is a massage therapist herself for a couple’s massage while vacationing in Tahoe City. Our experience went above and beyond expectations. The attention to detail and quality on the massages was outstanding. We would recommend these folks to anyone looking for a professional and thorough massage.

The receptionist Amy was absolutely lovely. She helped us find cool jewlery stores and was very accomodating. Even though we had to wait a bit for the massage therapists to get there because they were stuck in traffic they saw us within an hour of us calling which is very short notice. Totally worth it. Our massage therapists Cindy and Jamie were wonderful. They have very tallented hands and can find all the knots and are skilled at relaxation with therapeudic massage. Thanks girls we appreciate it and will definetly come back on our next vacation up here :)

This place was wonderful: affordable, luxurious, and willing to schedule me at the last minute. Highly recommended.

With some time to kill in Tahoe City, my friends and I found a Unilocal deal for Lighthouse Spa and decided it was the perfect way to spend 30 min before our friend with the car picked us up. My masseuse was Renee and she was awesome. Sweet girl, knows the body, and is enthusiastic to give advice on releasing stress areas of your body (apparently I have to stretch my mouse-​using hand more!). I like a little bit more of an all-​hands rubbing and squeezing rather than fingertips finding pressure points, but it’s not as if I communicated this beforehand so my fault.
My massage table was heated, had a gorgeous view of Lake Tahoe, and Zen-​like music to space out to during the massage. The waiting area is a couple of not terribly comfortable (or large) padded benches, but they make use of what space they have well. The cucumber water was a nice touch, but no sauna or shower was also kind of a bummer. (Especially because after my massage, I was pretty greasy from the oil Renee used. I had to use the sheet on the massage table to wipe myself down before putting my clothes back on.) Given these things, I’d rate Lighthouse Spa a 3.5 rounded up to 4 for being so accommodating for 3 walk-​ins.
I’ve been spoiled by some amazing massage places in San Francisco so my expectations are high, but if you find yourself with time to spare in Lake Tahoe and want to escape the cold, Lighthouse Spa would be a solid choice.
