Coffee Connexion roasts their own coffee in over 20 flavors and styles. They are the only roastery to roast at over 6000 feet using «Fluid (or air) Bed Roasting». Fluid Bed roasters are designed to attain fresh, consistent flavor by roasting to a specific bean temperature rather than color.
History
Established in 1990.
Coffee Connexion started brewing high quality coffee beans in July 1990 at their coffeehouse in Tahoe City, CA. Established by Jeff and Robin Dworkin, the new coffeehouse had one of the first espresso machines at the lake and served gourmet baked goods and sandwiches.
In 1996, after six years of buying various green beans from suppliers in Southern California, Jeff and Robin decided to buy their own roaster. Jeff travelled to Corvallis, Oregon in the fall of 1996 and bought their fluid bed roaster from Mike Sivetz of Sivetz Coffee Co. After learning the fine art of roasting from Gavina Bros. in Los Angeles, Jeff began purchasing green beans from Royal Coffee in Emeryville, CA. Roasting in Lake Forest, the Coffee Connexion Roastery was born. Through local friends and connexions, they soon had a solid foundation of wholesale customers, many of which are with them to this day. Robin and her husband Jeff started brewing high quality coffee beans in July 1990 at their Tahoe City Coffee House. A few years later they bought their own roaster and began roasting their own beans.
Robin now runs all aspects of a small business from bookkeeping to delivering coffee. She enjoys the lake, the forest and a good book.
