I’ve gone to Lexi every single time I’ve needed my hair for the past year. She always does amazing work on my hair and she’s extremely patient. I have extraordinarily long and thick hair. She always cuts it in the most flattering way for my face and uses products that are best for my hair type. The thought she puts into this process is almost as reassuring as her explanations and step by step details. She is absolutely the most amazing hair dresser I’ve been to and I will continue to go to her after her time at Salon Summit!

Came in today to get my hair done by my girl Lexi. When I called Tuesday to set the appointment the girl who answered was super short with me but oh well. When I showed up today, I was told Lexi had someone else on her books at the same time and I was moved to someone else. Sweet Jason at the front counter, bless him, ran around the ENTIRE salon looking to solve this confusion. Once he tracked down Lexi we got it all figured out but he was so kind and patient. Lexi did such a wonderful job with my hair and I’ll definitely keep coming back to her!

everyone was so nice and friendly. my hair was badly damaged from bleaching so I decided to chop my hair off short so I could regrow it. the conditioning treatment I got made my hair feel so wonderful again. I absolutely love my hair now and I can’t stop touching it

My friend recommended me here when she heard I was looking to get my haircut. Her niece at the time was a student on the brink of graduation. So I took her word for it and made an appointment specifically asking for her. On the day of my appointment, I checked in, had a short wait and headed to her station.
For only about $ 10 – 12, I was a given a hair wash, and cut and style that I absolutely loved! I think she was even impressed on how well she did. She was nearing her graduation so the only time I saw an instructor was twice. My request at first was for color and cut, but the instructor insisted that it would damage my hair if I bleach it so I was like, whatever I’ll just get a cut. I showed her a picture and the instructor than gave her a go to cut. The time it took was way longer than I expected but I understood since she was a student and wanted to make sure my cut was done right.
She cut and styled it towards the end, gave me some tips on how to style it. I was very much satisfied and in love with my haircut!!! Much props to this school for teaching their students well:) My only advice is, if you happen to get a cut from a student about to graduate maybe keep in touch to see where they end up so that you can keep coming back to them. I have no idea where she went and I lost contact with my friend so… Yeah lol

I was referred to this place by a friend and have been pretty satisfied with the services. There is a wide range of services offered for a great discounted price, and the quality is worth the little extra wait time. Since this is a school, the students need to be checked by teachers at various stages. Weekends and evenings are the busier times. For newcomers, I would advise allotting more time for appointments here, but I personally didn’t feel inconvenienced by it. I have done haircut, makeup, and hair styling here and felt very well taken care of by the students and teachers.

This place is simply amazing. I have been here on several different occasions and sometimes I request the same person and sometimes I get a different one to mix it up. I have never had any problems of been unhappy with the outcome of my hair. It normally takes about 2 hours for a haircut and an instructor is always close by. I went in yesterday around 4 and they closed at 5 so naturally was not gonna be able to get me in. I explained that I was nervous about going somewhere else and didn’t even know what I was looking for. Not only did I talk to someone who helped me figure out exactly what I wanted, but even offered to get someone there to cut it because let’s face it, no one wants to go to a random salon and get cut by a random person. They stayed after closing to get my hair exactly like i wanted. They didn’t rush or anything. I have also had my eyebrows done here and they have always been perfect. This place is my favorite place to go and the only place I trust to have my hair cut. I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t like it there!

I made an appointment for a haircut about two weeks ago. My appointment was for 1pm on a Saturday and I showed up and checked in about 10 minutes early. The place was noticeably busy but not unusually so as it has always been busy when I had been twice before. About 40 minutes past my appointment time I walk up to the front desk to ask why I hadn’t been seen yet since no one had talked to me or gave me any explanation. The woman next to the woman I asked yelled at me and told me that they were understaffed and very busy. It was very rude, short, and I hadn’t even asked her! The woman I was talking to apologized and told me I would be seen shortly. I understand being short staffed but I would have appreciated that being communicated to me in a polite manner without being yelled at. I ended up getting my haircut by someone other than the person I made my appointment with (with no explanation as to why) who was also a lot newer than I wanted (I made the appointment with a stylist who had recently graduated but still worked there because I wanted someone with a little more experience to do my cut and color.) Thankfully the person who cut my hair was a doll and she did great but couldn’t do the color I wanted so I only got the cut. The price was really reasonable but I left disappointed and needless to say because of the way I was treated I will never go back.

I used to go here a few years ago and then I followed the girl that I had been having appointments with to the salon she was hired at and then she moved to the East Coast and I went back to the chopping block! I like going to the Summit Salon Academy because although it always seems a bit hectic, mainly because of the sheer amount of people that are getting a service performed, the facility is clean, modern, smells good, and the educators hold a standard for their students. Each time you go in for a procedure, the student needs to explain to the educator what is being done, and they check back periodically to make sure everything is going according to plan, and then they come back at the very end for final approval and touch ups if needed. I will admit that procedures do take much longer than in a professional salon, but that is because they are learning! The price is right ($ 11 for a haircut from a level 1 stylist, $ 27 for special occasion updo, $ 40 for balayage highlights all over my head are a few things that I have had done) and with every level the student jumps, prices follow, but not drastically. If you build a rapport with the student you get and rebook with them multiple times (and tip well) you get great service and they really care about you and try to do a wonderful job.

I really have no complaints for the people, service, price, atmosphere, or results. I was there for 7.5 hours only because in bleaching my hair my bangs took forever and 2 applications to come up which is normal for me. I had a previous blonde balayage but I wanted it lighter and taken up closer but leaving the roots showing. The previous salon I went to was great, but I just couldn’t afford another $ 150 – 200 to get the ideal look I was aiming for.
Kasey who did my hair was amazing, patient, thorough, and wanted to make sure I left with complete satisfaction. The instructor was attentive and helped expedite the process as much as possible. I’m glad I have Kasey’s card because I will definitely be going to her in the future, even after she’s done at the academy. I have to support amazing talent like that. She’s got the whole package.
PS– Support these up-​and-​coming stylists and you will save $$ too! The instructor is right there to help and give tips and you will walk out looking and feeling amazing!

This was my first time at a student salon. Came in for a haircut, and overall it was a fairly good experience.
My daughter was the one who found the place and made herself an appointment for a color. When we arrived at 9am I was able to get an appointment for 9:15 for my cut.
My student stylist was very personable and obviously concerned about my satisfaction with my hair. There was a pretty significant delay in starting the haircut as she had to wait for her instructor to be available before getting started. But hey, this place is a bargain at $ 11, so the trade off is I have to give up a little more of my time.
I’m very satisfied with the outcome of my haircut. I’d say the quality is at least on par with my typical experience (Great Clips).
One note is that my daughter (who’s still getting her color as I type this) was originally quoted a price of $ 25, then that went up to $ 56 after they got started. For comparison, she normally pays $ 36 at the Gene Juarez school. But maybe there will be some explanation for the higher price. I will update later.

Liked my student stylist, hated the place. Super slow. 3.5 hours for a full foil and no time for a haircut, but the student was careful and did a good job. Don’t expect to get all your services in in one sitting, and schedule the earliest appointment you can. Your best bet is to make it a full-​day event.
Honestly, if 5:30pm to close (9pm) isn’t enough time for both a foil and a cut, then the last coloring appointments of the day should be around 3pm, period. There’s no reason chemical services should be rushed before salon-​close like that. That’s not the student’s fault, if anything I blame the school for scheduling a relatively new student that late in the day.
Their solution? Have two students with very different foiling techniques put foils into different sections of my head at the same time. Besides being awkward having two people hastily working on your hair, even these students knew that their highlights wouldn’t match.
My issue, and the reason for my low rating, is with the instructor; a blonde lady with a lot of attitude. Because my foils were put in slowly, half my head wasn’t processed and ready to go. The instructor explained that my hair was being «stubborn,» and that double-​duty bleach on top of the previous application would get the «stubborn» hair that wasn’t taking to the bleach. Also, apparently I needed toner to «even it all out.»
Say, what? I’ve been getting my hair bleached for 9 years, at various student salons no less. My hair bleaches evenly and quickly; no one has ever even entertained the idea of toner… We’d been moving at snail’s pace for hours, and suddenly everything was being crammed in before salon close, and it was my HAIR’s fault?
When I even inquired about pricing, as more bleach and toner suddenly became the plan, the instructor became very defensive about the pricing. Her quote was different from what i was originally told. She wasn’t present for the price quote, but when I pointed out the price discrepancy she became very sharp with me, as if I were lying, trying to shut me up by interrupting, multiple times, with the words, «thanks you!» Informing me that I would be paying the full price. Then she flat out turned walked away during our conversation.
When I later pointed out to her that she was being very rude, she informed me that I had been extremely rude to her student, who was crying in the bathroom. That confused me as, we were getting along fine. Sure I was a little annoyed with the pace of things, and was not looking forward to a long drive home with uncut hair, but that was it. No hard feelings When pressed tho, this instructor couldn’t tell me why the girl was crying or what had happened. Why? Because she didn’t know. She made an assumption, and went on the attack. Very, very professional of her. However I’m told tho that drama and tears are common place here. Why am I not surprised?
My hair was fine in the end, thankfully, and the instructor finally came to her senses and realized that the way she’d treated me wasn’t worth a dime, but it was the least professional experience of my life. I would not recommend this salon academy to anyone.

I wasn’t expecting a ton from a student salon but I had a great experience! I called this morning around 11am and was able to book an appt for 1 pm. I arrived a few minutes late and was taken right back. My stylist was Sandra and she was so fantastic! She did exactly what I asked and then some. They do have an instructor come before and after the cut but my stylist did such an excellent job, the instructor didn’t have to do anything to adjust or correct my cut. To top it all off, it was only $ 11. I love it!

I have been looking for a place that was reasonably priced and high quality for a year, finally I found it here. Have gotten two of the best cuts of my life! They take their time and check in with you often. I love being part of the learning process. Havent tried color yet, but ill review that when I do.

Amazing! The students are so thoughtful and they KNOW HOW TO LISTEN TO WHAT YOU WANT. I’ve never been disappointed with a service from here, and not to mention, the prices are AMAZING! Since it’s a student salon, the prices are crazy affordable just in case they mess up, which they usually don’t!
They are taught by educated professionals and they’re always around! It’s a really great place to get your hair done and I love coming here!

I understand that service can take some time due to this being a learning institution and they have to get approval from the instructor before they start, but that doesn’t mean that bad attitude is acceptable. I will say the job gets done for a reasonable price. that’s why I’ve been going there the past 5yrs, but would love it the gals at the front counter were nicer and showed better customer service.

They lie on prices. My color is four colors. Slow and not worth it.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
I went in for a cut and color only to be told by the instructor (Miss Burgard) that the condition of my hair wasn’t good enough for color. I was told to purchase these deep conditioning products then come back another time. I was quite irritated since I had taken the day off work and road 2 hours on the bus to get there so they did a strand test to prove to me that my hair wouldn’t accept the color.
They did the strand test and when the instructor (Miss Burgard) came back over, she said «Good news. Your hair lifted great and the strand turned out wonderful and none of your hair fell out. «She then proceeded to tell me that I should just do my haircut and a deep conditioning treatment (on the house) then come back next week for color! I took today off work to get this done! Why would I want to come back next week when I was there right now?
I was irritated, but said ok. Might as well get the haircut since I was there, right? WRONG! The student stylist washed and deep conditioned my hair then started the haircut. She barely trimmed the back of my head then went to get her instructor (Miss Burgard) to help her with the framing and layers around my face. The student stylist then came back and told me that the instructor told her that they weren’t giving me a complete haircut and that they would finish up the haircut next week when I came in to do the color! Why the hell would you give me half of a haircut and not finish it right then?
When I went to check out at the front desk, furious and in tears, she asked me how was my service and I told her the truth. IT SUCKED! My student stylist was super nice, but I didn’t get ANYTHING done that I had come in for! NO COLOR AND HALF A HAIRCUT IS NOT OK! Even the front desk lady was confused on why they didn’t finish the haircut and went to ask the instructor (Miss Burgard), but then came back saying that my hair wasn’t in good enough condition to do color (which was BS since they did the strand test) but gave no explanation as to why they didn’t finish the haircut.
I left there upset and in tears over the COMPLETE waste of my time. I hopped on the next bus and headed to a REAL salon to get my hair done. When I told the real stylist what had happened at the Salon Academy, she laughed and said NEVER GO THERE! She said the condition of my hair was just fine for color and it turned out BEAUTIFUL. It was a little spendy (the only reason I went to the school to get my hair done was to save money) however spending the extra money was worth it.

I went to TSPA yesterday and my results were horrible. Not even close to what I requested not of my foils were blended so my color is bleeding and i have uneven color on the top of my head. Mentors do not check work well or advise to fix it correctly. First and last time I will ever go.
I’m going to have to get my hair fixed now by a real experienced salon. So if u don’t care much about your hair go to TSPA. But if u love your hair do not risk it!

Busy! Not nearly enough seating. Had to stand at the front against the window and between the front door. Tried to avoid being run over by people rushing in from the rain. Very friendly girls working the front desk at check-​in. I suggest making an appointment.
My stylist, Kristy, was super sweet, very young, and did a great job with my hair. They are all students so be prepared to be there forever. They have to have an «educator» come over and go over the plan for your hair after they discuss it with you. Then get an educator halfway through, and then again at the end. The educators begin to form a line on busy days, so this can take quite a while. For the price though, I was more than willing to spend a little extra time.
I think the mandatory uniform is not just the typical all black, but leggings and boots. Don’t think I saw a single stylist without both.

I have been here about a total of 5 times and I would have to say that they are pretty awesome for a school!
I needed a quick bang trim and decided to stop by and see if a walk-​in was available since it’s right around the corner from my gym and I lucked out:)
The gal I had was great, I apologized for my sweating and I’m sure stinkiness and she was a doll about it! I wasn’t picky this time but I try and ask for someone who has been in school atleast 4 months,
The only peeve I have with schools is the time it takes to get you in and out:(but hey you don’t want to rush newbies, especially when it comes to your hair…
I myself have only had haircuts and/​or trims ($ 10), I have taken my daughter for a blow-​out ($ 12) and recommended a couple friends who have gotten all-​over color done ($ 21). They doing a pretty fab job for the price and they use Redken products which I love!
I have my Stylist that I go to when I need my «hair did» but for the in between or when funds might not be there, I will always come here as a substitute!!!
P. S. I would recommend calling for appointment and maybe even a consultation if your attempting something different but remember these stylists are students so keep that in mind:)
