Mainstay beers are 1897 Pale Lager, Prairie Line IPA, Dirty Skoog Double IPA, Potomac Citra Pale, and Grit City Porter. Many more seasonal and specialty beers will rotate throughout the year. Our brewery and taproom is located at 610 Pacific Avenue. It is a family-friendly environment. Soda and juice available. We don’t serve food, but it can be ordered in from one of the many nearby restaurants (we have menus) or brought from home. Growlers are available to-go and our beer is distributed to local bars, restaurants, and grocery stores. Buy shirts, hats, souvenir glasses and more at our taproom.
Street parking free on Pacific Avenue and Commerce Street after 6: PM on weekdays and Saturdays and free all day on Sunday. Otherwise meter is 25 cents per 15 minutes (Happy Hour discounts offset parking costs). If you park on Commerce, you can take the exterior steps along the side of our building to our Pacific Ave entrance.
History
Established in 1897.
The history of craft brewing in Tacoma goes back much further than you may think. The Pacific Brewing and Malting Company, formed in Downtown Tacoma in 1897, grew to be one of the largest breweries in the Northwest. The brand was hugely popular along the entire West Coast. Success was cut short by state-wide Prohibition in 1916 and the brewery closed its doors shortly thereafter.
Now, nearly 100 years later, Pacific Brewing & Malting Co. is back in Downtown Tacoma. Reformed by a group of local beer enthusiasts with a love of Tacoma and its rich history.
