What a horrible experience! I had a Groupon and took my car in at a scheduled appointment time on a Saturday morning. They said it would be ready in 2 hours. I called to make sure, and they said it would be another hour. Finally, over 5 hours after I dropped it off it was «ready.» The seats were still wet but dirty, there was still debris in the console and it was not clean at all. They took another hour «fixing» it but it wasn’t any better. They only steamed the seats even though it said they would shampoo them specifically in the Groupon, they didn’t even wipe out the cupholders, my steering wheel was slippery from the wrong cleaner being used which is DANGEROUS, etc. I ended up getting Groupon credit back, but I lost a good chunk of change and an entire day on this. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! This place should be closed.

Details are important for a detail shop.
Not good on the details. Like actually washing under the spoiler of the car. Like including actual waxing with a wash and wax.
Save your money.

$ 5 at brown bear car was and my 8 year old could have done a better job cleaning my car. Nothing made me feel like they «detail» cleaned. There was still garbage on the floor, cup holders were dirty, I was sent home with a used spray bottle and instructions on how to spend 30 minutes to clean the tire rims. They had the van for 6 hours! How did they not get that done?! The carpets did not get put back and were very wet. The center consul did not get vacuumed out. I could still see my wife’s toe prints on the windshield from where she puts her feet on the dash. They tried to charge me tax on the full $ 250 value and not what I paid which was $ 125. Isn’t this a service and shouldn’t be taxed anyway? The fine print said $ 20 extra for it being a van yet they charged me $ 25. I bought this in the middle of August and they rescheduled me twice. They called at 3pm to say that it was done. When I arrived at 4pm it wasn’t done and I waited another 20 minutes. I could go on but I would say that I’ve wasted enough time on this. I’m not happy and feel that groupon and Kingz Detail should be ashamed for doing business and being a business like this.

I too bought a Groupon and for some reason, didn’t decide to read the Kingz Detail Unilocal reviews until after I dropped off my car. I even ended up reading the filtered reviews. Needless to say, I was terrified for a few hours that something terrible would befall my car but it all turned out pretty well in the end.
I can understand the poor impressions. Driving up to the place was a bit disconcerting. They’re a tiny business working out of a garage and don’t have a permanent sign. The receptionist takes your name and number, grabs your key and that’s it.
Four hours later I got a call that my car was ready and I came back and paid my $ 25 in cash. Now the amount of tax they’re collecting isn’t completely unexpected. They’re taxing the value of the service, not the amount paid for the voucher. Groupon details this practice on their FAQ page and I’ve experienced the same with other vouchers where I’m purchasing a good or service. From my Google-​ing, it’s not clear what Washington State’s stance is on voucher tax but that said, at a 9.5% sales tax, the amount is still not quite right. Additionally, I find it an incredibly poor business practice to not take credit cards nor provide a receipt.
Once I paid, the manager Trey, who detailed my car, did a walkthrough with me to show me what he did. I was quite impressed with some scratches that were buffed out and inside looked great as well. I thanked him and drove off. After a couple minutes, however, I realized that whatever polish they used on the inside had caused my car to smell like several over-​cologned men had been camping in my car for a week. The smell dissipated after a couple days, so it wasn’t the worst thing but it would be nice if they used something that smells less… masculine.
Overall, for the price I paid, I was pleased with the detail. I’m not sure I’d go back, unless I was getting the discounted price again but for what it was, it was a fine experience.

If I could give zero stars I would! I bought a deal on Groupon for a Royal Detail that listed off all these things they would do. I paid $ 125 and another $ 25 when I got there for tax. I picked up my car 3 hours later and noticed immediately that they did NOT buff out the scratches, they did NOT shampoo the interior, they did NOT even touch the trunk, they did NOT clean the windows, I could go on and on. There was even wax left on the exterior of the vehicle. I could’ve done a better job myself! I feel like I definately wasted $ 150 down the drain! I immediately called my friend who also purchased the deal and told her to contact Groupon for a refund! I will never go back & will never recommend this place to anyone!

This place is a joke. Bought a groupon to try it out and I could not get anyone to return my call for an apt. So then I went to Facebook stalking and finally got a reply back. When I did get an apt. Which was at 10am I dropped my car off, they said they would call me when it was done. I end up calling them at 3 pm to have them tell me they are behind and can’t get to my vehicle ! Why Did no one call me earlier !!! I had nothing but problems with this business. I will gladly pay full price at another detail shop, screw the groupon. Ill take the loss.

Detail, as a verb, can mean «to select for special service.» As a noun, detail can also mean «attention to or treatment of a subject in individual or minute parts.»
I received neither of those with my Groupon at Kingz Detail in Tacoma WA. After waiting two weeks to make an appointment (their voicemail box apparently was never cleared), I finally dropped my car off expecting the following services worth a total retail value of $ 250:
Hand wash and dry
Dash, vents, and console cleaning
Protective wax
Interior shampoo
Clay-​bar treatment
Cleaning of door panels and jams
Engine cleaning
Odor and stain-​removal treatments
Wheel rails, tires, and rims cleaning
Scotchgard application
Interior and exterior of windows cleaning
Cleaning and shining of pipes and chrome
Headlight restoration
Buffing and scratch removal
Instead, here is what I recieved:
Hand wash and dry:
Yes, I’m assuming this is what occurred, but it occured at the level of service one would receive from a car wash. Missing spots everywhere.
Dash, vents, and console cleaning:
Given the amount of splashes of Armor All or a similar product and the amount of spots that were missed, I can say that it occured. Console still was dirty, and the automatic shift had enough dirt to grow a Chia pet.
Engine cleaning:
Not a steam clean as one would expect, but an incomplete wipedown of the engine with Armor All, at about the service level one would expect of an underfunded, undertrained teenager.
Odor and stain removal treatments:
I’m not asking anyone to make a silk purse from a cow’s ear here, but I would expect some level of improvement here. Maybe they forgot, or they should look up the word «removal» in the dictionary.
Interior and exterior window cleaning:
More spots than a leopard, and more streaks than a college football game. Abhorrent is the word.
Wheel rails, tires, and rims cleaning:
More grease than a John Travolta movie.
Headlight Restoration:
Not even close.
Buffing and scratch removal:
Ummm…NOT!
To top off this experience, I was charged $ 25 in «tax» for this service. I paid cash and was not given a receipt. There is no Tacoma/​Washington state tax that is 20% of a service, and receipts are offered to show a breakdown of any «taxes» that are levied.
Based on my experience, this is what I truly believe when it comes to this transaction:
1) Customer signed up with Groupon, and sold far more than their capacity to service. This would explain the length of time to schedule and the filled up voicemails.
2) In order to cover the amount of work, they hired some inexpensive labor (2.5 hours of work at $ 10 and hour is $ 25, the amount of cash I paid.)
3) The underpaid staff is undertrained and rushed to do work. This would explain the lack of services I experienced. Additionally, Kingz Detail may be underfunded to handle this much in service without payment.
This is a terrible representation of the service that both Kingz Detail and Groupon provide, and based on my experience and the feedback on Unilocal!both businesses are being cast in the worst light possible. I will never return to Kingz Detail (and wait another two weeks for more crappy service) and I am hard pressed to even see $ 125 worth of value in this service that I could have done myself with better results.
They’re overloaded and it is not a good fit for their undercapitalized business model. This Royal Detail was fit for a king: My dog, whose name happens to be King. He wouldn’t care. Of course, he drools a lot and doesn’t pay for anything.

Do not go here. My wife bought the Groupon deal and when we dropped the car off one of the employees stole her car and went joy-​riding, ditching the car off South Tacoma Way with $ 2500 dollars in dameges done to it. The owner, Zaurel Blue tried covering for his employee telling us that we needed to wait to pick up the car cause an employee «accidentally left on a family emergency with our keys in his pocket» and not to worry the car was safe locked in the shop. He didn’t admit to his employee taking the car until the next day when we called the police. Thankfully the car was recovered and our insurance covered all of the damages, but now Mr. Blue is dodging all communications from our insurance company and we have learned he no longer has business insurance.

I purchased the Livingsocial deal for a full detail on an suv. My car is less than a year old, it’s detailed once a month. I saw the Livingsocial deal and thought I’d save myself some money, but it was a waste of money and time. I dropped my car off at 10am and was told it would be ready in 3 to 4 hrs. I picked up my car at 1:30pm. The car was washed, but haphazardly, the windows were not cleaned, there were smudges on the car as well as white gunk on the running board and the vents. The car was vacuumed and dusted, but they forgot to vacuum the truck. They must have used a spray car wax because there was overspray on the mudguards and several places on the car which they forgot to wipe. Pay attention to the bad reviews, I ignored them and now I regret it and I have to redo my car. I will never go back even if they offered to detail my car for free.
P. S. They tried to charge me $ 15, they called it a tax for the Livingsocial coupon, what nonsense. I called Livingsocial to confirm and was told that I should only pay taxes on the full value of the detail and that Kingz Detail should not be collecting taxes for Livingsocial.

I pre-​paid to have a service done and when I walked in they said I had to pay more! First they said the charge was for the fact I had an suv, then they said it was a tax. What? Then they proceeded to blame the third party company and not themselves. Worst customer service I have experienced in my entire life. Needless to say, I received all of my money back. NOT from them but from the third party. I will never return to this place and I suggest you don’t either:(

The Amazon and Groupon specials are a shady deal at best. U think you are getting the Royal package, but you’re not getting anything close to that!
Dropped off my Jeep the other day & was hopeful for a good if not great job. Told the guy in charge that I really wanted the engine cleaned, the wheels spotless, and the green moss around the windows gone. Before I left I asked if I was getting the Royal detail & the guy says «no, you don’t really get that with the Groupon deal!» I told him I wanted a good job & I left feeling uneasy about the whole thing!
When they called 3+ hrs later I was anxious to see how it turned out. When I walked up I could instantly see several spots of missed wax on the exterior. Shaking my head I walked around & checked my chrome wheels & they were filthy! It looked like they sprayed something on & attempted to wipe it off! A five yr old could’ve done a much better job! The green moss? It was still there! They didn’t even attempt to clean that:(They did a good job on the interior, the engine looked good, and the soft wax job on the outside looked good (except for the missed spots)!
When I got home & looked at everything more closely I was even more pissed! There was some spray gunk all over the back window, armor all overspray everywhere, and I had to get a rag and remove abt fifty spots of missed wax! I spent 20 mins cleaning up their «detail job!» I coulda (and have) done a much much better job myself. If the guy woulda told me that for the Groupon, u only get this & that, and anything else is extra… I could’ve accepted that. Bottom line; if you think you’re getting a good deal you are only fooling yourself! You get what you pay for in life… and boy did I find that out after dealing with Kingz «detail!» I wouldn’t go back if they paid me too!!!

In Short:
Do not go here, you will be sorry. They are epitome of «over promise, under deliver»… Way under deliver. They will not do what they say they will and they will not refund you.

That is 14% tax BTW! How does that work? They only accept cash and they didn’t give me a receipt either.

The Whole Story:
I just bought the first nice new-​to-​me car I have ever had and wanted to get it looking like new again. I was looking around for a service that seemed legitimate but was not over the top with their cost. KiNGZ DETAiL seemed to fit the bill, judging by what they say they provide on their website as well as on their Amazon local deal (it was $ 125 for their $ 250 Royal Detail package).
I wanted to get it done that day because it was my day off and I thought it would be nice to have the car cleaned before putting my stuff in it, so I called them before buying the deal on Amazon. They told me if I walked in then they could take care of me that day, but if I bought the coupon then I would have to schedule an appointment for later. I was like, «I don’t really want to pay $ 250″ to get my car cleaned.» Then she asked me why I thought it was $ 250 and that they usually do it for $ 125 (this when I should have taken the clue and went somewhere else). I ask her how long it will take them, she tells me that they will have multiple people working on it so about 2 hours, so I decide to do it. I figure I will wait while it is getting cleaned and get some work done.
I get there and parking is atrocious, probably the worst I have ever seen. Not because there are so many people there, but because of their terrible arrangement/​system. They are on busy Pac Ave with about 4 makeshift parking spots of their own and you have to drive your car over the curve to get into a spot, ridiculous and dangerous. I wish I would have given up.
It is about 2:30 or 3:00 PM. I park down some alleyway where there is a tow sign. I run in and the cute cashier tells me it will be 5 – 10 mins before a spot opens, which it was. I awkwardly back my car over the curb into one of their spots.
The guy sees some uninstalled amps in my trunk and ask if I want those installed for a total of $ 190 including tax. I say okay. I then proceed to wait inside their dirty makeshift lobby for an hour or two (dirty, another sign to go elsewhere). The guy comes in and asks to talk to me outside (because he doesn’t want the other customers hear him trying to scam me). He then awkwardly tells me that he forgot to tell me about the addition $ 20 shop fee. I hesitate and he asks for just $ 200. «Fine!» I say.
Another while goes by and he comes in and says he can’t install the amps because not everything is there. It is now around 5:30 PM and they haven’t really even started cleaning my car.
They then come and get me around 7 PMish and tell me that they «think» my car is done. I go look at it and even in the diminishing daylight I can see that the car is still quite dirty, both inside and out. I tell them that I am not satisfied and show them what I am talking about. Instead of just saying that they will do it, they start to make excuses about why they couldn’t get it done. They even get a little heated about it. After they calm down they then work on it for another ½ an hour or so. I am just so frustrated with the time it has taken and how bad it is that I just want to get the heck out of there that I just pay them and leave.
It was weird when I paid them too. Firstly, they only accept cash and don’t give you a receipt (probably because they would get a bunch of charge-​backs). Secondly, the total came out to $ 142 which was supposed to be $ 125 plus tax. $ 125+9.5% = $ 136.88… I don’t get it. Lastly, when I give the guy $ 143 cash, he asks me if I want the change. Really?! I don’t care about the 50 cents that much, but just the fact that he asked me if I want my change is just annoying and reflects upon the quality, or lack thereof, of the establishment.
Too many complaints, need more space to write.

I really wanted to be able to give Kingz a good rating because of the friendly check-​in and good deal through DealSavers. Unfortunately the detailing missed many of the not-​so-​small details. The exterior of the car looked pretty good – still some grime on the lower portion of the body and the headlights inadequately cleaned but otherwise shiny and nice. And much of the interior looked OK. But the trunk was not even vacuumed and the cup holder and the central console interior still had food and hairs in them. Guess I’ll have to do it myself the next time or find a more «detail”-oriented detailer.

I admit I should have said something right away, but due to anxiety problems I have trouble dealing with confrontation. I need to be able to trust a company to do it right the first time.
Windows: None of them had been rolled down to clean the bit on the edge that tends to stay dirty after you take your car to the car wash. The back windows had doggie nose prints when I came in, and while they were improved they weren’t actually cleaned all the way.
Console: The front section looked fine, but when you looked down by the gear shift and emergency brake there was still gunk in the crease at the base of the gear shift and the area around the emergency brake looked like it had been dusted lightly but none of the build up had been touched.
The ledge by my back window hadn’t been vacuumed well, if it was touched at all.
My trunk hadn’t been vacuumed out, maybe this isn’t something they do, but the thing was almost entirely empty and the extra effort would have been appreciated.
I have detailed my own car before, I expected better work from a company who does this for a living. The people who work there who I interacted with were lovely people. On a personal level I give them five stars, but the work itself needs to improve.
While I was there a man came in to complain about bad work. They reassured him the person who had done the work had been fired and they personally were making sure some missing clips for his vehicle would be bought and replaced by them from the dealership. That is a great way to make up for a mistake a good customer service, but it sure doesn’t help when these mistakes are repeated on the next customer.
In all it wasn’t one big thing, it was a series of small ones. When the name of the game is detail cleaning though details really matter. I will probably never return here but I sincerely hope that things improve so that their business can keep customers.

I had been looking for a detail shop for a few months. I finally decided to take a chance on Kingz due to a great offer on Amazon Local. They really did a good job. My Jeep Wrangler Unlimited was disgustingly dirty-​inside and out. The interior was coated in dog hair and the detailer did a great job getting rid of that. My Jeep looks almost new. There were a few minor issues (chrome around rear lights, tops of windows and mirrors not clean) that kept this from being a 5 star review. I would likely have overlooked that and given 5 stars anyway (because they really did an excellent job on the interior), but the parking lot was horrible to get out of… backing out onto busy Pacific Av past a huge power pole at the onset of rush hour was near impossible.
I will definitely go back and more often (for mini details), but I will be careful to get in early enough in the day to get out before traffic gets so bad.
