Jeff’s Used Tire & Service

BEWARE! Went here to get a set of tires for my car and at first I was impressed by the service. The staff was friendly and I had a set of tires and was back on the road in no time. Come to find out that later on as I was getting a tire rotation at another shop that they stripped by studs on my car. After an expensive bill I called them to try and tell them what happened they said it wasn’t their fault (they told me that they would check their cameras and see who worked on my car — I never received a call back). They also claimed that the shop I went to for the rotation had stripped them taking off the lug nuts (but if you put them on wrong they only come off wrong). I suggest to beware as I know my case isn’t necessarily the norm but if you’re paying good money for a service you want to make sure its done right and doesn’t cost you in the long run.

I privately purchased a set of used tires nearby Jeff’s Used Tires. I stopped in at the store to get them swapped onto my rims and leave my old tires for resale on a Friday at around noon. There were no other customers and no work was being done. I asked how much for the work, and Jeff said $ 20/​tire for mount/​balance and $ 4/​tire to leave the old tires. I thought the price was too steep and attempted to negotiate a better deal. Jeff said (twice) «I can’t adjust the pricing,» but what he meant was «I won’t adjust to market conditions.» I left without getting any service. I know Costco does this for $ 15/​tire, so there had to be cheaper options.
I did some research, and discovered that VVal-^^art offers this service all day every day for $ 10−15/tire (price is consistent across the chain, but varies over time).
If you shop here, you’re over-​paying in a competitive environment where supply and demand matter. He may well offer competent services, but obviously, if he’s regularly turning away business when he’s got nothing else going on, he has to overprice all his goods and services to make up for the down time. I believe there’s a good business to be done in used-​tire shops, but my experience suggests this isn’t a place where good business is done.

I wanted my old tires put back on the rims that I had provided, apparently that didn’t register… So I had to pay way more than what was quoted. Maybe you would have understood me if you hadn’t of cut me off mid sentence and Quoted me on what you «thought» I wanted. Maybe if you showed SOME FUCKING TACT we wouldn’t have an issue. What happened to the customer is always right. I don’t normally complain but I have a low tolerance for ignorance, and I’m sick of paying for other people’s mistakes.
And cash only? Really…

Had a flat about 2 miles away… all the big commercial dealers were closed because it was 5:15PM. Jeff’s Used Tire & Service was right there for me. The whole process was super easy — ATM was right next door and I was out in 20 minutes. Thanks for making what could’ve been an incredibly long evening… very simple!

Jeff’s is awesome! They have a great selection of quality used tires at a price that is more than fair. I had minimal time before work, instead of rescheduling me… They hustled and I mean hustle. I wouldn’t think to shop anywhere else!

We were in Tacoma visiting family and ran over a nail in the construction area near TCC, causing a flat tire on the car we’d had for 2 days. Jeff’s was the only place open on a Sunday and we couldn’t drive back to Seattle on the spare so we decided to stop by, and we’re so happy we did. The customer service is incredible! They’re friendly, knowledgeable, and quick. We’d definitely recommend Jeff’s!

This place is old school awesome service. Cash only, straight talkin, no nonsense honest work and tires.
I’ve bought multiple used tires and rims from Jeff’s and they have been so affordable and awesome and FAST every time I’ve come in. Most recently I ran over a piece of rebar on the freeway and tore the CRAP out of my tire. When I hobbled in to Jeff’s he was sympathetic and they took care of it right away. Imagine my surprise when it was COVERED UNDER WARRANTY? What? No tire is supposed to be able to run over rebar on the freeway. THEY ARE JUST AWESOME LIKE THAT THERE.
This is the definition of an old fashioned straight shooting shop. Stop buying stupid new tires and start hanging with Jeff.

I went to Jeff’s earlier today after reading several great reviews on Unilocal and elsewhere. The two guys working the shop were honest and attentive. I told them that I was looking for a cheap pair of tires to replace my worn down fronts and they guided me towards an inexpensive pair in the yard. Upon taking off my existing tires, they let me know that I actually only needed one tire. I was already prepared to pay for both tires but they passed on the opportunity to profit off of my ignorance. What a breath of fresh air in an industry that is saturated with ripoff artists and upsellers. Thanks guys! I will be bringing my cars here for used tires as long as I live in Tacoma.

These guys are awesome. I can always get quick, friendly service. They look out for the customer, and they are always honest.

I went to Jeff’s to buy a spare tire for my SUV. I chose Jeff’s mainly because of the positive reviews for them on Unilocal.
The guys were friendly and the prices were reasonable. I figured since I was there, I would also get my front tires balanced. After all was said and done, I left Jeff’s thinking I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.
About a week later, I needed to change my brake pads. I am pretty mechanical so I did the brakes myself. As I was taking off the front tire, one of the ones that Jeff’s just had off to balance, I realized something was wrong. One of the wheel studs were totally stripped and the lug nut was destroyed. I asked my neighbor who is a mechanic to tell me what he thought. He said it looked like whoever put the wheel on last, didn’t screw in the lug nut enough before they hit it with the impact wrench causing the lug nut to destroy the wheel stud.
I called Jeff’s to complain but whoever was on other end of the phone said I needed to talk to Jeff. I left my number and waited for him to call me back. No luck. Now I am driving around minus one lug nut.
While Jeff’s might be a good place to get a used tire, don’t let them touch your car because when they mess up, you are left to pay for the repair.

I’ve went back after my last experience with that one worker. I figured that I’m not going to take it out on Jeff for his employee who lacks proper personnel skills. I’ve probably been there four times in total. Jeff always gives good service. I’d recommend them.
