Grassi’s Flowers & Gifts

Just ordered flower bouquet for my sister’s 60^th bday. Woman on the phone was efficient and helpful. She found a record in their computer of an order from the last time so she had all of the address and phone info at her fingertips. Since I live in SoCal, I always call Grassi’s for flower needs for my family and friends in the Tacoma area. My sister went to school with Ken Grassi and has always taken great care of our family.

We ordered flowers from Grassi’s over the holidays for my step-​mother. She loved them and said they were beautiful.
While visiting her, we saw them and she was right — they were beautiful. However, we were very disappointed with the size of the arrangement. We ordered the largest version and she received the standard small arrangement.
My sister followed up by phone with the florist and was treated horribly and accused of lying. The gentleman she spoke with (Ken) did not even offer an apology. Disappointing to say the least. We won’t be shopping here again. Mistakes are understandable, but bad customer service is not.

I have been using this company for over 23 years and I have only had one problem which the store was very nice about fixing. The employees have always been kind and good about my requests and my arrangements are ready when I arrive. I highly recommend Grassi’s.

I purchased flowers for Valentine’s Day through FTD and the order was routed through Grassi’s. I paid a premium to have the flowers delivered in two business days, set to arrive the day before Valentine’s Day. When I arrived home from work on the day of the scheduled delivery date, I had a note on my front door indicating Grassi’s attempted to delivery the flowers. This was a massive inconvenience. My expectation was to come home to delivered flowers.
The note also provided the phone number of the delivery driver & main store. I called the delivery driver and left a voicemail requesting a call in return, and I never received a response back. I called the main store, and the woman was very friendly and helpful, although she concluded that I would not get flowers the day for which I had paid a premium for.
It is approximately 3:15PM on Valentine’s Day… no sign of a flower delivery. If they arrive today, then I sure hope they are the best damn flowers I have ever seen.

The only reason I’m giving this florist one star is because I cannot give them 0 stars. Their owner has a terrible attitude/​lack of respect and could have easily fixed my situation but chose to instead be rude in spite of the mistakes made by his business. In short do not expect a courteous response if they make a late delivery! I will never be using them again.
I ordered a bouquet for a friend’s birthday on a Saturday (through the FTD website) and was guaranteed same day delivery. Though the payment had gone through on my credit card, they called me and told me it was declined. I assumed it had to do with Paypal and their unending random «holds» and «freezes» but when I investigated further later I found they already had gotten their money.
I called them on Sunday and the woman who answered was very kind and apologetic for their mistakes, and let me know that someone would contact me the next day which is also when the bouquet would be delivered.
The bouquet finally made it Monday afternoon but I never heard a word back from them. Today (Tuesday) I called to ask for them to at least refund the delivery charge since it was delivered 2 days late. The owner (or at least he claimed to be) told me it was a matter between my bank and I in a less than kind way. It was pretty surprising considering my bank statement officially shows they got their money on time, but my flowers were late.
What an embarrassing way to do business.

Really don’t think they even deserve one star. Co-​workers in Pennsylvania sent flowers to my grandfather using this florist when he had a heart attack. The little roses and daisies are wilted and the arrangement is just horrible. When we called, the owner wanted us to bring them to him or be available for someone to pick them up. What part of «heart attack and hospital» did he not understand? I asked if I could text him pictures. He said no. When I said I would be posting a review he told me not to threaten him and hung up on me. Nice! I have plenty of pictures should anyone want to see them.

I went in to the shop and discussed a flower arrangement for a friend’s 50^th. Peonies are in bloom so I thought that would be nice, didn’t want some ‘pre-​canned’ thing. We discussed other blooms to go with the peonies and settled on lilies. My friend loved the arrangement and posted a picture on facebook. That’s were my dissatisfaction came from. There may be one peony in there (if I look really hard) and no lilies. There’s gerbera daisies, roses, iris, mums etc. Although the arrangement was nice I was very disappointed that it didn’t resemble what I had ordered. I won’t be back.

I ordered a flower arrangement for mothers day through their website (and I do mean their website) Grassi’s calls me back up the next day and says I quote in a message «I don’t know where „YOU“ got your pricing but the arrangement you picked is more expensive and more expensive to deliver». I called back and said «I ordered and paid for it through your website» After he repeated the same tag line. I said that’s not my fault it was the price I paid through your website? «Well I can give you less flowers or i can cancel the order». I stated that «you should honor the price I paid». He said I’ll told you what I can do and I’m canceling the order.
That’s the rudest I’ve ever been treated.

This is the biggest joke of a floral/​gift shop i ve ever encountered. My order was placed well before the scheduled delivery date, and when they didn t deliver on the date (my daughters 30^th bday) they called my daughter and told her that someone had sent her a gift (ruined the surprise) and made up a bunch of excuses about why the arrangement (100Dollars) of what should have been nostalgic candies. They then called her the next day while she was at work saying we lost your address. When her gift finally arrived it was a basket with crunch bars, smart pop popcorn, regular candy, and yes several bags of cheetos and FANTA soda pops. This store is right across the street from an AM/​PM, my hundred dollars went to 12 dollars of junk food from the gas station. WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE, basically theft.

I searched high and low to find a florist that would deliver on Sunday in the Tacoma area. None of the online floral retailers would deliver on Sunday so I googled and called local flower shops. I finally came across Grassi’s Flowers & Gifts. The gentleman who answered the phone (I don’t recall his name) was was kind enough to make an exception and agreed to deliver two flower arrangements this past Sunday. He was very pleasant and was patient as I described what I wanted. I specifically asked for soft pastel colors, nothing too bright, nice and full, with roses and lilies. I asked for one of the arrangements to be in the $ 250 range, and the second one too be around $ 100. I also requested that the arrangements be coordinating, but for the small one to not be a mini-​me version of the bigger one. I felt very comfortable with our phone conversation and had no doubt in my mind that the arrangements were going to look beautiful and appropriate for the occasion.
The flowers that were delivered were not what I expected. I’m partially at fault as I should have emailed them an image of what I had in mind. For $ 250, I expected an arrangement like Loving Grace on Teleflora, which I also found on several other websites for around $ 180. Anyway, the flowers from Grassi’s were far from this (see photo). They were very bright (yellow, orange, purple, pink, red), and although large in size, it looked airy and did not quite have the full look I had in mind. Also, the two arrangements looked pretty much the same, other than the fact the the $ 250 arrangement had a few more flowers. I thought that they would be two different arrangements with a coordinating look. I understand that maybe they were unable to include more flowers as prices are inflated during this time of the year. However, I am very disappointed that they did not use soft pastel colors as I specifically requested.

I sent a bouquet to my mom and asked for something contemporary and eye catching. She received standard large bouquet in a standard glass vase with tropical foliage and flowers. While the flowers look fresh, the design was anything but contemporary and eye catching and looked a little messy. The problem is that by their website, they look like the best shop in the area. Maybe the postal service will get a boost from the gifts I send my mom in the future…

I kinda have a hard time coming to flourist for flowers b/​c I often believe they are over priced… and… They are…
Anyways. I came here and they had a 5^th element. People who likes to talk to you and help taylor your flowers to who ever your getting it for. They also talk about the newest trends of flower hood. They want to ptroect it so that it reaches the destination and for a few days after. Come one come all. just for the experience. :)

I will be using Grassi exclusively. They are a bit pricier than the other florists I visited but the quality of the product is well worth it.

I went here to get my wedding flowers on pretty short notice. It was Saturday morning and the florists were getting ready flowers ready for a large wedding. When I popped in to request a simple bouquet and boutonnière the first response I got was not pleasant. The lady I worked with mentioned how busy the florists were, how a couple of hours was not enough notice, so on and so forth. Also, while the lady was talking to me, my friend reached over to touch a flower on display, thinking it was fake, and the lady freaked out at her (literally freaked out!) because the flowers were calla lilies and sensitive to fingerprints (a simple verbal warning would have been sufficient and preferred over a 3-​minute lecture on the delicacy of the flower, how my friend should not touch them again, etc). I frankly told the lady that I didn’t need the flowers if it didn’t work with the timeline I had and after she beat around the bush with me for a few minutes, decided that they could squeeze in my flower order.
I didn’t have a specific bouquet I wanted (my only request was that the ribboning be a shade of green) and I had a budget of about $ 100, so I didn’t have any real expectations. When I stopped by later to pick up the bouquet and boutonnière I was really impressed. The calla lilies in my bouquet were beautiful (funny that my bouquet turned out to be one with calla lilies — I guess that previous lecture came in handy in retrospect) and the ribboning was elaborate and elegant. The boutonnière was a perfect match to my bouquet and both that and the bouquet turned out beautifully in my photos.
I highly recommend this florist shop but I would suggest that you place your order in advance.
