Eye MDs of Puget Sound

I was assessed for lasik in January (I am not a candidate) and got an Rx from Dr. Geissler. As it turns out the Rx was too strong after having the glasses made up at a national optician; and Eye MD’s response was that I should come back in (during my work hours) to get reassessed.
I chose instead to go back to the national optician (whose services I have used for the past 10 years without errors) for a reevaluation (although as far as they knew, it was simply my annual exam). Their assessment revealed a lower Rx. When I asked why their Rx was lower, they informed me that while the machines prescribed a higher Rx, the practical exam (putting lenses in some «Frankenstein frames» and having me read charts and papers with them) determined that I actually see better with the lower prescription. Sounds reasonable right?
Well, when I wrote Dr. Geissler’s office dissatisfied with their service (Rx) the doctor wrote me back and blamed every other element in the process (it was my fault, the optician’s fault, etc.) other than himself — he’s an egotist, and a snob. He dissed the optician I used, citing «a reputation for poor quality». Well Doc… that «poor quality» optician can do what you clearly cannot… give me a correct Rx. Your pretty office and plethora of machines cannot ensure a correct prescription — why would I ever trust someone like you to cut my eyes?!

I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Geissler, who I have now seen twice. I am 25 years old and was experiencing eye pain and dryness. After my second visit seeing him, I will not be returning for my follow-​up appointment. If you are a patient who does NOT like to be well informed, educated or know the reasons behind your medical care, then he is the one for you. Personally for me, I was very upset with his presentation.
He makes little to no eye contact during conversation and is very closed off to any questions you may have for him. He often times dismisses your concerns or cuts you off during conversation. He appears to always be in a rush to leave the room and does not have time to answer questions. Multiple times he made comments about my age and dismissed many questions I had and stated, «you have trust issues».
On top of this, expect to wait minimum 40 minutes before seeing him. Aside from the long wait, his very poor bedside manner and his disregard for any questions, I have no doubt he is a good doctor from a knowledge and educational standpoint. In my opinion, definitely not worth the wait. The other staff all appear friendly however.
I left his office feeling very uninformed and offended at his sarcasm and his disregard for my concerns. Again, if you don’t want to be educated or well informed then he may work out great for you. But if you’re anything like me, I’d stay far away.

I had a successful left and rt cataract surgery in July 2015 and now have ²⁰⁄₂₀ vision in both eyes. My experience at the Eye MDs of Puget Sound, Tacoma, WA clinic. I am pleased and satisfied with the outstanding patient care I received from start to finish during this surgical process. Dr. Geisler Ophthalmologist MD and his professional staff team (Kevin, Rachel, + all others-​receiptions, appointment coordinator) were consistently supportive and competent.
All costs, meds, and procedures were thorougly explained. Assistance was provided for questions, prescriptions, and concerns when I requested help or information. My sight is the best its ever been.
I highly recommend this medical provider and his team.

As with the previous reviews you wait forever! I have also never been to a doctor’s office that takes your email and harasses you with spam!

The doctors and equipment here are top-​notch, and deserve 5 stars; we got thorough eye exams, accurate prescriptions and felt confident in the docs abilities. That being said, I would give the office staff zero stars; the receptionist is always rude and they need to reassess the time they book and their routines, as everyone ends up taking forever to do everything (showing up early does you no good; you will still wait long periods for every little portion of your exam). No one ever apologizes for the ridiculous wait times; you may sit in a room alone for 45 minutes to an hour between seeing a nurse or doctor.
Expect to take half your workday off to get your eye exam done, but if you are tired of shoddy exams and needing to have your Rx done and redone, you may have to weigh the pros and cons.
We will go back, but not without 3 – 4 hours worth of things to read/​listen to, and a meal packed for ourselves/​our kiddos. I also would book farther out to get either the first appointment in the am or the first appointment after their lunch break… with such bad time management, you don’t want to get there after they have several patients ahead of you to get further behind.
It’s a classic example of a business that has enough demand to not change their customer service policies.
