Apex Apartments

This place is an awesome place to live! My room mate and I fell in love with it at first sight and we’ve lived here for a month now. The close proximity to the mall as well as countless other stores, restaurants, and amenities makes it convenient to do shopping/​run errands quickly. The facility itself includes a 24-​hour gym and sauna, on-​site tanning services for free, hot tub open year-​round, pool for in the summer, business center with free printing, free coffee daily in the lobbies, two lounges that can be used for parties/​social gatherings at any time, a movie theater with free cable and a fitness room with a projector with workout classes to follow along with.
The building is secure, requiring a key to get in the front lobby’s and a clicker is needed for the garage which has enough spots for each resident to have their own at only $ 50 additional per month. The staff has been nothing but pleasant and eager to help. They will hold packages for you at the leasing office and send you email notifications to come pick them up. Several times a month they host a social gathering with free food, games, and prizes. There is also periodically a raffle for those who have recently signed a lease or recommended someone who signed a lease.
Downtown Tacoma (Pacific Ave) is located approximately ten minutes away and is only an $ 8 über ride away, making it super convenient to enjoy a night out on the town. It’s also located approximately 20 minutes from Fort Lewis for those in the military and traffic on I5 rarely gets backed up. Some apartments overlook Mt Rainier which is beautiful to see on the rare sunny days.
Also! If you recommend someone to live here and they sign a lease you get $ 300 off of your next months rent! *wink wink*

Moved in with my girlfriend and our friend, just under a month ago and, for me personally I couldn’t be happier. The apartment has a good feel inside and the view is great! Everything is very easy to use: the gym. The sauna. The tanning bed. The free coffee machine. The theater, to the swimming pool, dig. My only complaint would be the other residents. No smiles. Rare greetings, and overall rudeness. The ladies at the front desk are more than delightful. Always saying good morning and taking time to converse about anything, dig. The area around the apartment is great, always something to do and it’s nice that work is a short walk down the street. Love it!!!

Been here just shy of a month and have no serious issues.
The perks:
–Great location. Almost everything you could need is within a few miles.
–Secure. Front door was fixed to fully close and I have had no issues with feeling unsafe.
–AMENITIES. Like WOAH. Gym, yoga room, nice hang out spots, pool, conference room, kitchens for everyone, theater. Washers in apartment.
–Staff. All very kind and flexible.
–Nice updated apartments. Newer appliances, high ceilings, windows galore.
Cons:
–Rent is higher than other places in the immediate area. If it wasn’t so great I’d deduct further. BUT IT IS.
–Could the building be better kept up? Yes. But I blame the majority of that on lazy tenants. Sort your recycling, take your dogs outside. Be kind to the communal areas.

So today I read a lot of bad reviews on this place. I think some people have forgotten the point of leaving a review. From the sound of the bad reviews they are complaining about stuff the apartment staff either isnt responsible enough for or just isnt high on the priority list. Yes there is some recycle clutter from time to time. This place is packed full of people. What were you expecting??? Yes I once smelled the theater movie room and yup. I did smell puke. But it may have been a bad batch of «smelly good» stuff. I remember I have smelled some scensey stuff that smelled like fresh stomach vile. Any who. Here is my review on the Apex Tacoma based on the almost 6 months I have been living here.
These apartments offer a lot of amenities.
Gym (nice updated equipment) sometimes things break. I use the gym as often as I can. I see a lot of people use it as well. Nothing last forever. Warranties and maintenance on anything sometimes just takes a while to fix or replace. (this goes for anything else in my review)
Massage therapist (he or she is no longer here but 40 bucks for a whole hour isnt a bad deal!)
Sauna (takes about 20 – 30 minutes to heat up to 120 degree’s which is a bummer so remember to get it going prior to your work out!)
Pool and hot tub (Very nice what can I say, they keep it as clean as they can for as often as it gets used which is every day!) The outside seating is very nice!!! Nice updated lounge chairs to tan in, as well as basic lawn chairs and tables for your relaxing pleasure) 8P
Pool table room (nice table!)
Foosball table (loads of fun! looks brand new!)
Loung/​living room/​Kitchen common area. This is pretty cool. Kitchen is nice. Can go down there and make a mess instead of your own! (please be responsible and clean up after yourselves!) This place is nice lots of places to sit down at! Big screen tv (about 50 inch ish tv with cable woooh!)
Aerobics room (This is cool lost of preset video’s you can put on and work out too, plenty of elbow room.)
Conference/​business lounge (located in the A building, need to have an important business meeting? Well its there for that and more!?)
As far as amenities go I may be missing some. But as you can tell so far there is a lot!
Lets talk maintenance and staff. (Pretty friendly, they do their job. Some of them are new and not just new but new new! So cant put to much blame on them for never do this as a job before. Management is fairly new. Not sure if they are new to managing.)
I have called maintenance quite a few times. Sometimes I had to wait a few days or longer. There are a lot of people that live here, things break. But the half the time the maintenance service wasting their time picking up after other people who leave their trash right in front of the garbage shoot or are too «tired» to walk their stuff down stairs to the recycle. So sometimes between that and fixing their work orders they can be a little slow. But I know when I have to pick up after others when its not even my job let alone responsibility, I get held up a little to and thus making me a bit slower as well.
All in all I would rate their maintenance 5 stars alone since they never had to come fix the same work order after it was fixed the first time. So kudo’s in that department.
Now moving on to the actual apartments themselves. Yes this place is a tad pricey. One might have high expectations when facing the type of… costs… it costs… to live here (whew!) But I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, as far as most cases go.
I got the bigger apartment. Yes it costs my arm, half a leg and well lets say I wont be having anymore kids now… right? yup anyways. Its nice, nicest apartment I have ever lived in, and I have lived in a few. I have seen nicer apartments but for Tacoma these are probably some of the nicest. I would say definitely top 5 nicest apartments in Tacoma.
Power bill is relatively low. I pay average of 50 bucks for electricity and I have ton of stuff plugged in and turned on all the time! But thats typical for any sort of «Dense» apartment living arrangement.
Utilities (water, sewage, trash) is a bit pricey but eh what are ya gonna do? Move out?
Parking. Now this is a sensitive subject. Remember if you live here do live in TACOMA!!! Which is not that bad of a city. But crime and dirt bags are everywhere right? So yes cars get broken into, outside and yes someone got their wheels stolen off their car while they were deployed. If you can afford to live I would recommend to afford good coverage on your vehicles as well, of course if possible. I am not to sure about the security camera’s and how legit they are. I know some work and well I guess some are just there for show? I cannot confirm or deny this. But I have delt with after hour security and got no results from them. I hope they find a new security firm to do business with.

I have been living here for a year and plan to stay much longer. I was a part of the transition to the new management and they are doing an incredible job at renewing the complex!
Bad neighbors are leaving regularly while more and more good ones pour in! I have had multiple friends move in and family members! I look forward to seeing the progressive reform that continues through the new staff who are quickly becoming friends. There is no better community based complex in the area!

Things are starting to look up here at the APEX. Yay!!! for positive changes. Lousy neighbors have been taken care of, I can sleep again… peacefully and maintenance is taking a turn for the better too. I guess if you speak often and loud enough, change does come.

The elevators smell horrible (like urine) maintenance was informed and they only said that the facilities guy was out for another half an hour… 2 days later it still smells horrible. U can tell they tried to cover it up with some air freshener but now it only smells like air freshener and urine. These people are horrible at maintaining the common areas clean. To management: don’t even try to say it is due to the constant traffic created by the pool facilities, if you know this is something to expect you at least try to prevent it becoming an issue.

I’ll keep it short– We broke our lease and paid the fees associated (which are not cheap) to get out of there. My health and safety were not worth living there for another minute. I am so happy to be out of there and in a complex that actually cares about their tenants. Do yourself a favor and do not rent here.

So they once again give tenants a bill in the middle of the month for utilities when they should have gave it to us on the 1^st of the month with rent. If we don’t pay it in 5 days we will get evicted. Funny huh? Because I paid what my statement was in full on the 1^st then get additional fees and I have to pay it when they want it instead of just putting it on our next months rent. This place is a JOKE! Do not ever rent here, EVER. Don’t be fooled by the nice amenities and nice location. The amenities are a joke because you have to pay for them, location sucks because there’s never ending traffic. Save yourself $ 1000 and rent somewhere cheaper and make the commute. I will never refer this place to anyone. Btw, only giving a star because there’s no option to give NO stars. Get new management! Maybe your tenants will be happy!!!

This place sucks! Lived here for a year and couldn’t wait to move. The new management sucks and they don’t care to do anything about complaints. The lady upstairs from us had a dog who was always barking out the balcony as early as 6am and I let the office know 3 times of this and they never did anything about it. They kept billing us incorrectly. And the construction is never ending. Not to mention that the walls are paper thin and the windows do nothing to block the noise. We had 3 fire alarms go off and there was no fire it was due to something always breaking. The garage door was always broken! I can go all day on how much this place sucks. Don’t move here!

Worst upscale apartment to live in! Horrible customer service. They spend more money and time in making the amenities right before taking care of the people that live there. They are so inconsistent in what they tell you. One person says one thing and another person will tell you another. It is totally not worth the money to live there. There was multiple times I came home at night and the police department was parked outside obviously dealing with tenants living there. There’s so many upscale apartments in the tacoma area now, don’t waste money at this place!

Judging by the recent reviews, management appears to continue being terrible. I lived here in 2012 for a couple months. The apartment itself was nice. However, the «gym» is small and the equipment is always broken, the theater smells like feet, neighbors are loud, I’ve seen pets relieving themselves in the hallway, and finally the management is the WORST.

New floor next to the elevator is already dirty and it does not wash off. It’s a bad idea to change the tile floor on a concrete floor. After one year of use, this floor will be like in a pigsty.

Views are great… Under new management but they don’t seem interested in putting money into upgrading the amenities. The gym equipment is broken down and barely working, the hot tub has been broken for months now and all we get is «it’s a few more weeks» to get it fixed… Just call a guy and get it done. The theater smells like puke and the equipment needs to be upgraded for blueray.
You can’t clean the windows from inside your apartment (design flaw) and they haven’t had a window washer out in the year I’ve been here. So the wonderful view is through cloudy dirty windows. I have a 2 bed 2 bath with 2 parking spots and a storage locker $ 1680/​month

Under new ownership and outstanding management team. Strongly encourage all to take a look. My wife and I can finally live here and truly enjoy all it has to offer.

my husband and i have been living here for 2 years now i love our apt i just have problems with the neighbours as any apt complex ive had to call about the downstairs neighbours but nothing was done that was last year i think they moved now. but when you live on the 4^th floor you cant call about the 5^th floor making noise bc they own that apt themselves ours is super loud and stomp around i can hear everything they do! love our apt lots of windows and space for us, parking garage get that for sure you will need it! the gym is horrible everything is broken we went today bc our gym we pay for is closed on easter. the pictures of the gym on their site isnt the one they have. the tanning bed is ok its level one its free but not very strong. i love the pool no one really goes to it during the week.

The Apex apartments are reasonably priced and well maintained. They have terrific views and very good access to shopping and the freeway. Management is great! The only problem we had with Apex was the neighbors. Often there would be fights in the halls and parking areas on the weekends (between tenants and their guests). Tenants would have loud parties at night, and were generally discourteous of the property. Management was doing their very best to clean up the place when we left. I would bet this place will be 3 star worthy in a year or so.

I lived here last year and it was nothing but issues! My car was broken into in the garage, and the security cameras were fake so we never got any thing resolved. My neighbors were fake rapper/​gangsters who were up all night playing loud music… talentless and tactless! I think the apartment manager was friends with them because I used to see them going int apt 312, Where he lived at the time. There were always parties at the managers apartment too. Super loud all night
long! Also smells like weed by his place and although i made complaints, nothing wasbut ever done. There were tons of questionable people living there… trashy people. Seemed like a lot of fake gangsters and nasty strippers! Even the managers girlfriend is a stripper! My friend saw her at Deja Vu… Haha! So if ya ever need a lap dance… you get my point! BAD FOR BUSINESS! The place is just shady… I always felt unsafe with everything from leaving my car in the garage, to being in my apartment even with the door locked. Im NOT into living surrounded by fake rappers, gangsters, strippers and a bunch if drugs. If you are, this may be the right place for you. On a positive note the leasing girls are always very pleasant and helpful. Also, the amenities are pretty nice! Just not enough to make up for the filth that lives there :(
