M&T Parking Garage

They get two stars because the parking is $ 5.35 for an entire day… a price that hasn’t risen in over 10 years. I’m sure they’re due.
They lose points because:
— The staff are miserable, and won’t lift a finger to help you. For example, in winter, when the up-​ramp right after you get your ticket/​swipe in is completely covered in snow and virtually impossible to drive up, the staff will just stare at you, rather than grab a shovel and take 20 seconds to clear off the ramp. (It’s generally covered with snow/​ice from cars and gets really slick… I think if they weren’t just staring at you from their wee booth in mild amusement, I wouldn’t mind as much).
Example #2, when you come up to the window to pay, they won’t lean forward at all to take your money [the window is far from where your car’s window lines up] — half the time, they drop your coins (that $ 0.35, remember), and either force you to crawl around on the pavement to find them, or just give them more money (then presumably taking the coins off the pavement as well).
— They have these huge speed bumps… I’m not sure why, as it’s impossible to speed through there because of the corners you have to take, but they jar your brain every time you cross one.
— It takes forever to get out of there if you’re leaving at any popular hour (3:30, 4:30, 5:00, etc.) If you’re super unlucky, you’ll be behind someone who insists on taking a left out of the garage, rather than just going around the block… you’ll be sitting, breathing car exhaust, for a good 15 minutes.
Aside from all that, great garage. Joking aside, it’s the best downtown, which is… sad.
