Love Freedom of Espresso. I always make sure to stop here for a coffee when I’m in Syracuse. They have so many delicious drinks and almond milk(my favorite milk for an iced latte). This spot near Armory Square is cozy, so grab a table and sip your coffee or take a walk around Armory Square.

It’s a cozy coffee shop with comfortable seating to get work done. Definitely has very good coffee and a good atmosphere. Try the organic roast! Nice place to catch up with friends, do work or just hang out in armory.

You guys! That barista from the UK is a true gem! I was in this Sunday(very hungover, I might add) and this dude was single-handedly making all the drinks. He was quick, efficient, and incredibly friendly. He literally asked every customer how they were and if they were up to anything for Father’s Day. Not only that, but he had genuine interest in the answer. He is a total winner of an employee. Also, my coffee was yum and thank you for having agave! The interior needs to be way more homey BUT not even that can detract from your coffee and your excellent employee.

Nice, quiet, clean and locally owned coffee shop. A few pastries. Friendly staff! Very artsy and community minded.

I travel around the country for work and always seek out the best local lattes(in my case, soy with a touch of vanilla, usually). FoE is in my top 3, along with Cartel Coffee(PHX) and Legal Grounds(Jersey City). Fantastically rich, flavorful espresso with perfect foam. There seems to be a different barista every day(not sure how they employ that many people), but they all know how to make a good drink. I read all the raves about Café Kubal and tried it out, but it’s not my cup of… coffee. I’ll stick with FoE.

Latte is excellent: smooth and rich. Environment is sparse(hence four stars). I love the free trade commitment!

Why bother with Starbucks, Panera and all the other pretentious«Coffee Shops with their barristas» What the hell are barristas anyway? At freedom of espresso they make damn fine coffee at a reasonable price. no frills, just the real McCoy. There is also one in N. Syracuse. Barristas, Jesus! Just make the coffee well and you’ll still get a good tip.

Noticed my review was removed. Maybe it was too harsh. But I’m just honest as we all should be on Unilocal since reviews are based on real experiences. Coffee is weak. You want strong coffee go elsewhere. They don’t have varieties of milk accessible. You want skim, you have to ask the counter. No food, they don’t have breakfast sandwiches. Place needs a renovation. It’s a small niche local joint. You would think they would have some charm and not yard sale furniture inside. I recommend they spruce it up, brew stronger coffee for a variety and offer food not just snacks. Not impressed and hard to come here with Starbucks across the street and Lofo around the corner. Take some tips from them. Cheers.

Quite possibly one of the best Chai Lattes I’ve ever had! The regular latte I had was average… The pastry I had was good… And the service was great! That’s the basics… So we love to explore and try new coffee shops, this place is pretty awesome! I will say that the photo of this place makes it look a lot bigger than it is. It’s not a huge space but there is enough room for about 8 tables or so. It is a good place to work from, as the internet works very well!

different that the buck, is that fair to always compare them to them? well, it is right across the street and all. well, its expensive, that for sure, but its good, so theres that. i got a iced mocha, small, i thought it would be a small, but this was a small, like cup a water small. 4.25. i bet its still got the same amount in a med, minus the extra milk, but i like a little more for my money. the taste is way better than an iced mocha from the buck, yet the line over there was the full length of their store, but freedoms place was emp-ty, just me, lonely ol me. whoooossshhh

I WANTONEINBROOKLYN. Which says a lot because I go to SFC in Brooklyn Heights, I live in Flatlands, and there are indie coffee shops on every freaking corner. But FoE coffee is so rich and not too acidic and just… mm. I really liked the pumpkin coffee. The biscotti are insane and probably an angel made them. Sparse interior, which I don’t mind but the seats could be more comfortable. Homeless people like to hang out outside and make faces at you through the window. It’s kind of funny. I hate sitting at crumby tables, they skeeve me out, so that is a minus. But there’s usually one person at the counter and it’s rough to do it all yourself. It’s not enough to take off points. Because COFFEE here is AMBROSIA and so are the baked goods. The hell is wrong with you people, going to Starbucks when this exists across the street. I mean, I go to Starbucks too. But this is an obvious choice.

It needs a facelift, but the coffee is good and has a plethora of additives for your coffee(honey, chocolate, etc). It is upsetting to see people going to the starbucks across the street and not supporting the local business(hypocrites). The barista was working hard and serving up good coffee. They probably can’t remodel due to the competition so give the, your business.

The place is nice & quiet. We got: Espresso-had a nice veena, but was a little watery. The cups were an odd choice for espresso, it should have a curved bottom. The flavor was stongly bitter. Soy latte: nice thick foam. The coffee was too bitter for my taste.

Fantastic place in downtown! As everyone has said before, Starbucks is across the street — check this place out first. Usually, local business tend to be less generous than the franchise/chain places. I am an avid supporter of local businesses — but I do understand the need for them to watch for their costs… HOWEVER, this place wins a few stars from me. 1. Generous! The amount of sweeteners shows you how stingy they are — and this place is very liberal with their sweeteners on the milk counter. sugar, syrup, the pink, the blue and the yellow stuff. They offer all kinds of milk as well. Napkin was on the same table — for you to grab as many as you want/need. 2. Espresso drinks: iced americano. Strong coffee — very impressed. I don’t drink flavored sweetened drinks — so i don’t know how they are but the ladies in front of me got iced almond latte and caramel lattes. they must be good! 3. Service: very friendly. VERY friendly. 4. Wifi — yes. wifi. 5. ample places to park yourself… for awhile… YES! Go check them out.

Directly across the street from Starbuck’s. Coffee shop location win. I really liked the feel to this place. After spending 3 days in Skaneateles, this was one of the first places I visited back in civilization. The barista was friendly and real — unlike a Starbuck’s droid. The atmosphere was exactly as you’d expect a local coffee shop to be, woodsy, real and completely void of $ 1000 cappuccino machines for sale lining the windows. I ordered a soy latte — my first in days since apparently soy isn’t available in Skaneateles. It was really better than acceptable and I’m not just saying that because the last several I’d had that week were pretty awful. They made a great latte. If I’m ever back, now I know where to get a great coffee in Syracuse — sweet.
