History

Established in 1960.

The practice was started in 1960 by Dr. Jordan Levinson and bought by Dr. Bruce Levinson in 1997. The practice has grown and in 2005, Dr. Joseph DiTota joined the practice. Eyecare of CNY specializes in the treatment of eye disease, specialty contact lens care and pediatric care. The office is one of the only offices to offer new technologies including CRT (corneal refractive therapy). This is a procedure in which the doctor fits the patient with a prosthetic contact lens for sleeping, enabling the patient to see ²⁰⁄₂₀ all day without the use of day time contacts or glasses.

Eyecare of CNY has two locations at 2901 Court Street in Syracuse and 105 Nelson Street in Cazenovia. All exams are made by appointment only. We do accept new patients and look forward to seeing you in the near future.

Business Owner

Dr. Bruce Levinson is an optometrist with advanced training and extensive experience in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye disorders. He places professional emphasis on nearsighted reduction therapies, therapeutic contact lenses, and children’s vision.

Dr. Levinson received his bachelor’s degree at Buffalo in 1988, graduating first in his major, forensic chemistry. He studied optometry at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, graduating at the top of his class.

After training at the Dimock Health Center in Boston, the Omni Eye Center in Atlanta, and the Augsberg Army Hospital in Germany, Dr. Levinson completed extra training with Donald Korb, (one of the most prominent contact lens practitioners in the country). He also worked at Cornea Associates in Boston. This was one of the test sites for refractive laser surgery (nearsighted surgery).

Dr. Levinson is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
