We are a division of RILEY’S (on Park St.) that specializes in bringing popular, gourmet sandwiches from around the country, right here to Syracuse. We roast our own meats, we make all of our sauces, soups & spreads from scratch. Our bread comes in from local bakeries fresh every morning. We buy all of our product/​produce from local farms and other small businesses.

Our menu changes every week to incorporate the latest recipes and the freshest ingredients.

Office catering and delivery are also available with sufficient notice.

History

Established in 2010.

Darwin in the joint venture of Daryl McGrew & David Holtman… two friends with over fifty combined years of food service experience. We both have a passion for food, and with the help of co-​owner Terry Riley we have succeeded in bringing that passion to the Syracuse downtown community. Having crossed the dreaded 3 YEAR anniversary hump, we are very proud of our customer base and repeat customer percentage. We are happy to know the majority of our customers by name and we are excited about the growth and expansion of our business. Stay tuned for new locations and recipes as we continue to work hard to continue bringing you classic dishes from around the country. Darwin is our first business venture.

Business Owner

I started in the restaurant business at the age of twelve, bussing tables in my family’s Italian restaurant. I fell in love with the business then, and have worked some aspect of the restaurant business ever since. I worked my way to a Business degree from Syracuse University while waiting tables at Syracuse’s famed Riley’s Restaurant. Upon graduation Terry Riley (Owner) helped me in getting Darwin open, a passion project of mine for many years. It’s off to an amazing start, and continues to grow with each day, week, year… Darwin is my first business.
